I wish the dream world made less sense. Don't get me wrong, there are other things I'd love to change about Freddy, but if I talked about them all I'd be here all day so I'm just gonna talk about the dream world.
The dream world is just a grey filter that has either snares or pallets in it (90% of the time it's snares bc pallets are bad), there's nothing about it that screams "dream." In my mind, dreams make zero sense, so I would really, really love if things in the dream world just...made zero sense.
Let me provide examples that I think would make the dream world infinitely more engaging:
    1. Generators make incorrect sounds. Gens that are almost done are silent, gens that have zero progress sound like they're at 70% completion. The gen shakes and cackles when you miss a skill check.
    2. Every time you break a totem, when you fall asleep, it looks as if it's still intact. You may break it again, but to the awake survivors, you're just fanning your hands over the remains of a broken totem. You walk towards a lit totem in the dream, and as soon as you touch it, you hear someone blow the candle out and giggle.
    3. You open a chest and find a key. You pick it up, and now it's a flashlight.
    4. The lights of the exit gates are always on in the dream, it doesn't matter if the door is truly almost open or not.
    5. To really drive it home, these effects only happen sometimes.
Idk I think it'd be fun and silly :)

That's a fantastic idea, I'd like to add obscured text to your list as something that always happens while dreaming. I've heard somewhere that you can't read while dreaming so any activity you're doing will be impossible to read while maybe the progress bar goes weird every now and then.

Absolutely, survivors need a reason to awake themselves, you don't get the feeling of urge when you are sleep except if Freddy brings some addons. You need to play with the concept of what the dream world is to Freddy, a sandbox, a toy box, a space that it's been use to play with his victims.
You can add something like a punishment for survivors who are not waking up, like a slow after an amount of time being on the dream world or screaming for not reason, bleeding, less FOV. Something to make the dream world more of a thread. When you face Freddy the only thing to be worry about are his snares or pallets, but when that happens you just go to another loop. You can just being sleep the whole game and that's it.
Of course, if you are going to give more power to Freddy on the dream world you need to take less when his not on it. He'll need to use his old power to put you to sleep but more quickly than before, so he doesn't waste that much time.
And more thematic and gimmicky addons, like a teleport that makes all the gens bleed when he use it, being a stealth killer on the dream world with no terror radius or only hearing him laughing when his close, survivors on the dream world sees freddy instead of awake survivors for brief moments.
They have infinite posibilities with this character but they are not using it from fear to the community. Would rather face a killer that makes an unique experience than a OP kit. lol

Yeah I see many comments saying they should’ve made clocks the way you woke up rather than skillchecks and to actually make him stronger in chase while they were in sleep, it would’ve been the kind of 0-100 danger level killer that would make Freddy unique. Instead it’s more of 40-75

And then they get mad at me when I say he was a p*do from the beginning, but it was cut. If anything, 2010 was more accurate to the first ever script than the OG movie.

@@gayfrog6015 First of all, you can't just ignore the original concept for something original and say 'Hey it doesn't matter 'cause it didn't come true' if it's only because for being afraid of scandal and lawsuits. Evil to begin with? This is one of those characters that pretty much have no reason behind them. And it's not like it was the evil within him. In cinema and virtual world if something's truly evil it's see-able in some ways, some sign. There were non for freddy. Most people were trying to explain this by him being a psychopath, which was actually confirmed in movies at some point or another. And yeah let's talk about his movies, because thro out all of them fallowing the original script, each had tried doing it in it own way. We had some catholic bullshit, genetics, hell, psychopath, pretty much everything that was ever tried in horrors. Honestly I always loved Freddy in movies, and he was my on top 1 killer right with Ghostface, but for how he was preying, killing, features and definitely not for story behind him. I still have some place in my heart for Freddy, and have fantastic ideas they could rework him in fantastic way. And think he should get a new series, as actual series and not max 3 hours movie.

I write notes on killer ideas of my own for dbd and that power can do great work. I had the idea for a killer blob that could press itself flat for mindgames at loops plus going underneath pallets and leave oozy puddles that slow survivors.
Then they could let Freddy spawn all sorts of new things. I need fake chests that'll inflict deep wounds upon me when I open them, the ability to go through vaultable windows out the closest vault point to Freddy wherever he is on the map towards him, and fake generators that hold me in place, pistoning my arms to make me scream for Freddy.

What I have heard and seen from the old freddy is most people didn't understand how to use his power. You weren't supposed to put someone to sleep and chase them, you had to juggles your prey and slowly the match would become harder and harder for them. The main reason people didn't like him is because they didn't understand how to use him. Definitely not the most powerful but those who played him well made him a force to be reckoned with.

Can confirm as an old Freddy main, juggling between survivors was the name of the game. Sleep as many as you can and supervise them, if you notice the aura going into specific animations like healing then you knew awake survivors were around there to put to sleep, let them suffer endless slowdown, let them hate having to fail a skillcheck just to be put back to sleep seconds later, a fun time even if SWF were hell on earth. Sadly nowadays idk if that Freddy would even function with how Hit and Run style killers are always booted out of the room the second they step inside, he was already one of the worst, in current metas, I feel like old Freddy would be impossible

  • @Lusius8879
    @Lusius8879 3 года назад +93

I'd actually argue the dream pallets specifically fit Freddy perfectly. You yourself said about the teleport "it turns a safe place into nightmare and fear", which is exactly what the dream pallets do. They turn a pallet, which is the safest place in the entire game, into your death trap. Once you know he is running his pallets instead of his snares, you constantly keep paranoid to remember which pallets were used already and which were not. Which is why making them an add-on instead of base kit works even better. You don't realize he has them, untill you already fell for it. Every time you face a freddy, it's like "does he have snares or pallets?" to me, Freddy is defined mostly by toying with his prey. He is a predator with a twisted humour. I think that new freddy mostly nails this. The toying part is represented in the pallets, teleport and snares. They can turn safe situation into death traps and mind games, really strengthening that feel of the survivors just being his personal toy. When I play Freddy, I truly feel like I am just messing with the survivors untill I feel like finally going for that final blow. And the fact that he is invisable from far away to awake survivors, blinks in and out of vission for awake survivors at medium range and the fact that asleep survivors suffer from permanent oblivious effect and hear his lullaby constantly. It really adds to the feel of a constant threat, no matter what you do (similar to Plague with cleansing vs staying sick). His blinking in and out of vision and the timer also perfectly resemble the micro-sleep and inevitable fate of sleeping. To me, freddy in game is all about mind-games. Is my teleport real or a bait? Is this pallet real or fake? I could run to this safe loop, but I'd probably die if he snared it. Did I just see freddy in the distsncd, coming this direction? I hear his lullaby, but where is he? I constantly feel uneasy when going against him, cuz I never know if my next move will safe me or kill me. And I constantly feel like I controll the survivors while playing as freddy. It feels like I am just playing with them and letting them screw themselfs over, to then finally relieve them from their nightmare. To me, freddy feels nearly perfect.

Oh man you're making my old Freddy main flare up so I gotta vent:
Ok, good things about the rework first. The environmental manipulation is pretty par for the course for Freddy so that's accurate.........aaaaaand that's it. Old Freddy was UNIQUE. There was no other killer who saw auras in basekit like Freddy could; Doctor DOESN'T COUNT because his clones are intermittent and do not show up to him until Madness Tier 3 unless you use an addon. Freddy had weird stealth, slowdown, Dream transition mindgames, and was all in all the most strategic killer of them all. I made an entire guide on him called "Freddy For Masochists" which is still on Steam because I just can't take it down after pouring so many hours of work into it. He was VERY underrated, very much like Twins. Was he perfect? No. But he wasn't god-awful either and he was a unique boy. His old addons were so varied and wacky: there were some that made his Dream Transition function differently for fun mindgames, there was a jumpscare addon in Red Paintbrush, there were Dream Transition movement speed addons which while not great did have fun synergy with speed perks, there were ACTUAL slowdown addons (none of this 4% bullshit, TWENTY FIVE PERCENT!!!) that could create an oppressive endgame, and there was the glorious heavenly beautiful most strategic and powerful feeling addon of all Class Photo. WHAT'S NEW FREDDY GOT!? Duuuuuuh tiny slowdown buff. Duuuuuh, faster recharge. Duuuuuuh, power debuff addon with bloodpoint bonus. Duuuuuh, everyone's in Dream World. Duuuuh, tiny buff to visibility which is too weak to actually affect your gameplay. And not one, not two, but FOUR Blindness and Hemorrhage addons (WHY ARE THEY STILL MAKING THOSE!?). He's BLAND, HOMOGENOUS, and worst of all way too powerful with way too little effort. Old Freddy DESERVED his victories, he took WORK to use and when you put the effort in to learn his strategic power you were rewarded handsomely. New Freddy spams snares and teleports.
If I was in charge of reworking Freddy, I'd take him right back to old Freddy. MAYBE I'd tweak the values on the Dream Transition time and MAYBE I'd keep the teleport or add in some other environmental things to give Freddy some extra oomph to his power to keep up with modern gen speeds/chasing. But he was pretty fine the way he was and I have won PERKLESS AND ADDONLESS games with him at red ranks. The poor guy was never given a chance to shine and if Twins end up in the same boat as him or get nerfed to oblivion I am quitting immediately and never looking back.
    Rant over, sorry.
This video was great and I enjoyed your thoughts. I can agree now that Haley's Freddy was indeed a better fit for DBD despite missing Englund's charm.

Here is a idea, what if Freddy could interact with a alarm clock to become completely invisible and put him into a "nightmare" state (which would pretty much be his launch power, where he cannot attack survivors) , interacting with the clock would immediately wake all survivors up but make them oblivious temporarily.
While in this "Nightmare" state, Freddy cannot attack survivors unless he tags them with his "dream beam" before hand, but as a evolution of that power the longer he holds down his dream beam on a survivor the more disillusioned they become, shifting in and out of the dream realm, being able to hear Freddy, mixed terror radius noises or even hearing nothing at all.
Once the survivors fall asleep Freddy can attack them.
Survivors would only be able to wake up from other awake survivors while Freddy is in the "nightmare state".
Freddy could swap between his "Nightmare" state and "Mortal" state at will through the clocks. In his mortal state he can place traps, but they are disabled in the nightmare state.
I also think Freddy should have unlimited traps/fake pallets in the "Mortal state" at the cost of them disappearing after awhile (either 30 seconds or scaling with the amount you have active). Freddy would only be able to teleport in his "Nightmare" state. I don't think Freddy should have any generator slowdown effects affiliated with him.
    TL;DR
Freddy should be able to switch between his two versions of his kit, one for stealth and teleport ambushes and one for traps and effective chasing.

Okay, so here's MY idea for an another rework: we return to the old ways with Freddy having to pull survivors to the dream realm to hurt them, BUT he has to do it by hand. Let me explain - Freddy roams around in the dream realm, completely invisible in the real world, survivors in the real world only see his red zone and hear the terror radius, those are the hints where he is and that you need to hide. His actual model is invisible. When Freddy hits a survivor three times, they don't actually enter the injured or downed state. After three hits instead, their body collapses and they enter the dream realm. There, The survivors are back to their "healthy" state, and THEN Freddy must down them normally, like any killer would, except he isn't slowed down as much by pallets or hitting survivors.
That is because getting out of the dream realm is relatively easy - the exit gates are always open. When a dreaming survivor exits through the gate, they return to their sleeping body in the place they were downed and can resume playing normally. And escaping the dream world must be that easy because getting killed in the dream world is an *insta kill* No second chances, you get hooked there, you're done. Just like in the movies - The main goal is to NOT fall asleep at any cost and if you do, get the hell out of there because you're outmatched.
Edit: Also as PuzzlePeace pointed out, it should be weird and abstract, But... I have different interpretations of how that should be done... For starters, Some pieces of terrain are invisible untill you walk very, very close to them, like two meters from them. Some pieces of terrain are instead false and you can walk through them, they just kinda fade out when you approach (Like the entity deleting the terrain around the hook when you sacrifice someone). If the map has a basement, It doesn't have any lockers and takes a form of a burning brick room. And instead of Hooks, there's a furnace... All a symbol of Freddy and how he died. The basement should also be the only place you can sacrifice the survivor (Also you can't escape Freddy's grasp in the dream world), since having to walk all the way to the basement everytime will slow him down enough for it to balance out the other strengths

Keep the teleport, keep the snares and pallets, but give him all of his stealth, aura reading, slow down, and most importantly, let him put people to sleep again on a 3-4 second timer instead of 7 seconds, and to avoid survivors popping gens in his face while falling asleep, survivors who are falling asleep can't work on gens/totems/exit gates until fully asleep. Old freddy had and imo still has so much potential to be a strong AND unique killer, BHVR just has to actually tweak him instead of just nerfing him into the ground any time he's strong.

To be honest, all I want for Freddy is to have his power reworked one more time into a hybrid of his version now and the old version.
Here's kind of an interesting idea I've had for Freddy if they did some kind of rework for a second time:
Each survivor starts the trial fully awake unless affected by addons.
    ----------
Awake Survivors - Cannot see or nor be seen or harmed by the killer, and suffer from the Oblivious status effect. This stage lasts for 15 seconds before transitioning to microsleep
Microsleeping Survivors - Can faintly see and be seen by the killer (similarly to the dream transition effect, but it progresses/regresses linearly depending on the distance) within 24 meters and can be attacked to immediately fall asleep. This stage lasts for 45 seconds before completely falling asleep.
Asleep Survivors - Can fully see and be seen by the killer at any distance and are aware to the killer's terror radius (32m). Action volumes and failed skill check penalties are doubled, and performing altruistic actions will reveal your aura while outside of a 32 meter range. This stage lasts indefinitely until a survivor is jolted into microsleep by a failed skill check, or fully awoken by another awake or microsleeping survivor.
    ----------
Freddy Krueger's Dream Demon ability will allow him to collapse into a pool of blood and become completely invisible and undetectable. While traversing invisibly, his movement speed is moderately increased. Releasing the ability will cause him to lose control of movement and slowly appear over 3.5 seconds, after which he will regain his terror radius and return to normal movement speed. After use, the ability will go on cooldown for 30 seconds.
I'm definitely no balance expert, so I'd love to hear how this sounds because something like this sounds like it could be more fun and interactive.

Like make the transition shorter, make his "terror raidus" in the dream world bigger(probably 32 meters), and make the effects different(like make them hindered, slower gen speeds, and slower healing). But the way you wake up isnt as simple as it is now. When you become asleep, the time on your profile will start and after 60 seconds the clock furthest from you becomes active. Or if freddy hits you, then he'll knock you out of the dream world where he has to pull you back in again. And keep all his other elements like the teleport and previously stated clocks. But remove dream snares and pallets since they suck and dont fit with freddy thematically.

my simple rework of Freddy. You are completely invisible and undetectable to anyone who's awake but you can't interact with them in anyway. This results in massive tension as they work on gens and do other things because they never know where you are or who you're stalking. This rework requires removing a majority of the alarm clocks. and spacing out the remainder of them. I would be fine with there being 5 alarm clocks. 4 that spawn in semi random locations close to the corners of the map and one that spawns semi randomly somewhat close to the center. you probably need to shorten the time it takes for a survivor to fall asleep. maybe 30-40 seconds and Freddy has add ons to shorten this. This way, your main gameplay as Freddy is silently stalking a survivor until you know they're close to falling asleep and then pouncing when they do. keep the snares and pallets as well bc a true to life Freddy needs to manipulate the environment in some way. he loves his mind games. also, as an alternative to teleworking to generators I propose a possibility of teleporting to any survivor who's been asleep for more than say 5 seconds. Mechanically it should operate almost just like Hags teleport. you could even include a phantasm to warn them you're coming. I think a cool add on would be one that doesn't trigger that. just like Hags. thus would incentivise survivors to keep track of their sleep cycle and give him a good mixture of map pressure and slowdown but only against misplays by the survivors. Which would not only be more lore accurate imo but also balanced because you would get punished for misplacing your timer but you could also be rewarded for keeping a good mental timer and good map awareness. just an idea 🤷🏼‍♂️ it's possible that teams could be so good at this timer mechanic that Freddy couldn't get a single hit against a team so maybe it requires some rethinking.
Edit: As for his ultra rare and very rare add ons, they could be things that allow him to instantly put someone to sleep in a certain range through a very specific action. IE. Kicking a Gen if someone is within 24 meters. or vaulting within range, so on so forth.

here's my concept for a freddy rework-
freddy keeps his teleport, it just isn't visible to those not above 50% tiredness. he can place down new dream pallets, which behave like a normal pallet, but cannot be vaulted by survivors.
freddy quickly puts people to sleep by being within 10 meters of them. tiredness does not regress. at 50% tiredness, you can see freddy sporatically. at 75% tiredness, you occasionally cannot tell the progress of generators, as it will "flicker", going from your current progress to 0% to 100% to some random progress before returning to your current progress.
when asleep, you cannot wake up on your own, as another survivor has to wake you up by finding an adrenaline syringe around the map, a special item that spawns randomly every so often, and using it on you. while asleep, generators are constantly "flickering", skillchecks for generators have false activation areas which only reveal themselves just before they show, and freddy can see your aura when outside of his terror radius.

Tbh, I don’t mind Freddy’s power, I see these comments say shit like “He’S a DreAm DeMOn, HE ShoUld bE abLe tO Do AnYthIng…” yadayadayada… if you read his lore it states that the entity toned down his power over in the dream world, most likely to have more control over him. This means that he is no longer thinking ”how can I toy, torment, and kill my victims in the most creative ways possible?” And more like “what’s the most efficient way to catch the survivors in the fog to appease the entity keeping me here given my limits?”. Remember, those who oppose or displease the entity usually get a horrific punishment as seen with the trappers hooks going through his body, disappointment is ‘probably’ not an option in his mind. His traps, his ability to teleport, even his perks reenforces this idea of pushing to keep himself safe given his limited power.

I've got a nice bullet point list of changes from when I played old Freddy that I think would make him close to perfect.
      1. Reduce the number and reliability of methods that survivors can use to wake up:
      A. Sleeping survivors do not receive skillchecks when healing themselves with or without a medkit
      B. Adrenaline does not cause survivors to wake up
      C. Decrease the chances of skillchecks occurring while on a gen to at least old Wool Shirt levels, if not old Blue Dress levels (monitor for future changes)
      D. *If* further buffs are necessary after testing, survivors who are healed from the dying state do not wake up
      2. Decrease his terror radius from 24 meters to either 20 or 16 meters.
      3. Do not give Freddy a movespeed decrease when his beam contacts a survivor
      4. QoL improvement: This would be the hardest to implement, and is hardest to describe. Essentially, when old Freddy put survivors to sleep, there would be a 7-second dream transition. During this transition, Freddy would flicker in and out of invisibility for that survivor.
The very best Freddys in existence min-maxed this by moonwalking at the exact moment that they entered their last invisibility state in the transition. The survivor would assume that the invisible Freddy was still going straight so they would keep looping, where they would then get bodied by the counter-rotating Freddy. (Here's an absolute god demonstrating, and the man who made me a old Freddy main: ruclips.net/video/0rTtr7pUe-Q/видео.html )
Old Freddy needed a QoL improvement that emphasized this style of play. In addition to the blue glow and dreaming hud indicator, Freddy needed indicators for being visible/invisible to his targets. That could be a purple hud and purple glow indicator, a two-toned sound, anything really.
I personally think the best implementation would be to bind each survivor to one of his knife fingers, with the left/top surivivor on the hub being bound to Freddy's index finger knife, and the bottom being bound to his pinky. While in the dream transitioning, the bound finger knife would gain a glow, similar to the survivor's blue glow, that turned on when the survivor could see Freddy, and turn off when they can't. This would communicate with new players how to correctly chase transitioning survivors, and the flicker would in time create an intuitive knowledge in players of when it starts and stops.
Do all this, and I think Freddy would be a very hard killer with a high potential. It's just small tweaks to some numbers and perk & item interactions, with some QoL improvements to clarify the best uses to his power.

But there's a solid core of horror in the early movies which is really what they need to be mining. And indeed, that's probably a large part of the thinking behind using nu-Freddy, because in a way it's also trying to mine the actual horror that made the first movies such good horror movies.

BHVR nerfed Insidious, a perk that reduced your terror radius to 0 after 2 seconds of standing still. They upped Insidious to 8 Seconds to reach 0 terror radius, just to spite Freddy

I must be one of the few people that thoroughly enjoyed the remake. Jackie did an amazing job as Freddy and liked the darker tones of the character. I was definitely excited when they announced Freddy to be joining and I mained him during his old days, even getting to prestige 3. I love the original movies of course and I understand peoples disdain for the remake but I honestly love it.

So, about remake Freddy liking kids.
(Don’t quote me on this) but to my knowledge the original Freddy was either going to be a pedo, or actually was but it was never explicitly stated.
If I am remembering correctly, they wanted Freddy to be a terrifying monster, but more ways than just his dream powers. His charisma was meant to be that extra bit of scary due to how almost likable he seemed to be whilst being so deplorable. In the remake went all the way in and made it explicit.

Freddy is an interesting case as a slasher that unfortunately works against him in places like DBD and also Freddy Vs Jason; he’s pretty limited in how he operates based on sleep it works well in his movies because we can get attached to the group of teens dealing with him (yeah I hard disagree with the idea that we only rooted for Freddy; I love Nancy Thompson) and see their fears and how creative Freddy gets in the dreamworld where he kills them. It’s less ideal when he’s going up against stuff like survivors who aren’t going to bed anytime soon, or a hulking killer who really doesn’t care about tasting victims fears when he kills them (like Jason)

Never played DBD but from what I got from your video, I think they could have blended the "trappy" nature of their design with the original Gimmick of Old Freddy.
If i had to do it, i would have kept the original concept but twisting it in the following way:
    1. As a passive every player who starts the game with Freddy as a killer have a "sleep bar" that slowly depletes as the game progresses, once depleted players would have to do regular skill checks in order to not feel asleep and enter the dreamworld. That would be the most drastic change but it still feels reasonable and would really add a sense of pressure to the game.
    2. Instead of the beam to pull people in the dream, i would just make so that Freddy could "rig" different interactibles from the "dream world" so that when survivors use it in the "real one" they take a massive hit to their "sleep bar" and get closer to be pulled in the dream and then game over.
I would put a number limit to these "rigs" to force the Freddy player to make tactical decisions. I think this would tie up better to how the character functions in lore while still keeping the "trappy" and "stealthy" nature of the design they went for.
    3. Maybe this one is a little bit much but i would also allow Freddy to teleport to the objects he has previously rigged to give him mobility in the dream world and allow him to be on time if someone get KOd by one of the riggs. I would limit this too maybe with a cooldown of some kind.
Basically, this turns the game into a planning and clock game instead of a run and chase.
I am very unfamiliar with the game so feel free to tell me if those are bad ideas, but I just found old Freddy's concept so interesting I feel it's a shame they didn't try to stick with it a little bit more

I played before the rework and main Freddy, I was kinda sad with the changes because I loved being a stealth killer and it was terrifying to see survivors wiggling in the air with no one carrying them. When I heard the rework was coming out and all the changes, he sounded so complicated I was going to never play Freddy again, but I love Freddy so much I tried to re learn him all over again with changing my play style as well. I enjoy teleporting to gens and I could care less for snares and pallets. I hardly use them. This recent nerf didn't damage how I played him at all thankfully.

This is just an idea but what if they combined his old power with his new power, completely invisible and has to physically pull survivors into the Dream Realm *BUT* once they're asleep Freddy can affect them with the dream pallets and snares? It gives him a little more personality and some gameplay depth for the player

To be honest. Freddy was the first DLC killer I paid for as I had the PS4 release when it was free for PS+ members back in 2018. And yes, I played original Freddy. I mained him until I bought the Halloween DLC. I grew up watching both Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, I was more familiar with Freddy than Michael. I mainly mained Freddy though because he was my only DLC killer for the longest time. When I got into the higher ranks, I started to realize how week he was. Especially since everyone ran Self-Care during the time so if they could escape you and fail healing themselves they could get out of the Dream World. I used to be smart with his old kit and ran Insidious so I could find Survivors easier before they woke up.
I hadn't run Freddy much since the rework. I like having fake pallets and teleporting, but it's just not the same. He feels like every other killer now. Not to mention originally I was planning on maining our favorite goblin before he got a MUCH needed texture upgrade. However, I ended up get Legion and Jeff, so I ran Jeff because we have similar features and then started running Ash because my favorite franchise is Evil Dead and it's Ash FREAKING Williams. After my 2 year hiatus from the game I started running Jeff as my main survivor again because apparently everyone goes after Ash first if someone's using him.

  • @chris-tianmothman

The difference between classic and reboot is that one was a fever dream, and the other being an actual nightmare.
Edit: I think Freddy could benefit from a hybrid of his old and new selves. Make survivors passively fall asleep, keep the teleport, maybe keep pallets, and have him pull survivors in again. It'd reward aggro and clever deception tactics, which would feel a lot more like normal Freddy.

16:55 “when you think of Freddy you don’t think of traps”.
I like to respectful disagree on that statement.
In Nightmare part 1 we see Freddy turn stars into traps when Nancy tries to go up them which is featured again in the climax of Wes Cravens New Nightmare.
In Nightmare part 3 Freddy ties a kid to a bed with tongues.
Turns a girl into a bug in a actual bug trap.
Freddy has been a trapper at least once in each movie.

I think they should give Freddy one more rework: it should be the exact opposite of what it is now. The round should start with everyone in the dream world, and the goal of the survivors is to stay asleep. If the sleep timer runs out, then the survivor wakes up. While the survivor is awake, they can’t see Freddy (like in the movies), and if Freddy downs them while they are awake, then Freddy can Mori them.

and here's what I want to say
while I do understand where you're coming from, you also have to note that Freddy is really a difficult killer to make gameplay wise
after watching your video, it seems that the old Freddy seems to be based on the old Freddy powers, dragging survivors into the dream world, while rework Freddy is based on reboot Freddy,
the microsleep works well, and while the traps isn't that impressive, it's pretty much how they can make Freddy more active while in the dream world without overpowering him, and kinda think of it, setting up traps is a way to show the nightmare abilities of the dream world, because we don't see him setting traps, but only see the trap being sprung,
Freddy is a powerful character, but he shares the same problem as Pennywise and Lucy.
    he is too powerful.
Freddy is someone who can easily manipulate his environment in the dream world, making it into a nightmare, but put it in DBD context, having him shaping the world would just make him too powerful. the snares and pallets are pretty much the closest thing to manipulating the environment.
even though this Freddy doesn't make up to original Freddy, he does make up for DBD's standards. original Freddy wouldn't work in the tome of DBD, his taking behavour would be a worse version of Huntress' humming, the insults he would give would be basic due to dialogue and gets annoying overtime (we kinda did get a little annoyed when Ash says the same thing over and over), and again, he would be too powerful and make things out of balance for the player, Reboot Freddy works much more better since he doesn't talk too much and he has the concept of microsleep, which wouldn't fit with original Freddy
overall, I don't mind this Freddy, does it make Freddy Freddy? no but it's a Freddy that fits with DBD, and it's much better than no Freddy at all
Also, if we didn't have this Freddy, we wouldn't have Quentin, who went from forgettable character to Tumblr's favourite DBD survivor.

  • @heyygallo
    @heyygallo 2 года назад +1

his power should’ve effected exhaustion. In the dream world, survivors shouldn’t be able to use exhaustion perks (or the cooldown should’ve been doubled). They could’ve kept Freddy’s original design of only being able to attack in the dream world but lessened the penalty for survivors by not effecting their action speed. However I still wish survivors would have to miss a skill check to wake up instead of alarm clocks
