Hi - you can reduce the oil spill from the filter by fully unscrewing it in place (to let the air in) and leaving it to self-empty into the sump while the sump is draining. Actually changing the filter can be the last thing you do, by the time you get round to it there will be very little oil left in it to spill. Also, you can extract the old oil through the dip tube, using a vacuum pump, many people use that method these days. No need to go underneath, and less spillage.
From the insignia on your toolbox, it looks as though you were in the Army…if so, thank you for your service to your country. If you get a chance try using AMSOIL SAE 5W-40 MS European Motor Oil and a WIX oil filter #WL10438…it has synthetic media which won’t collapse…nice car and good video!
Randall Rahlf the other seal was for a different car with a different oil filter housing. Same filter is used on different vehicles from my understanding
Hi Watson! Great review.I wanted to ask you where do you get your oil for your Q7 TDI? I’m in Florida and I looked around local auto parts and they don’t have it! Any suggestions? Thanks
Thank you sir I change the oil on my Jeep Sahara I know I can do this one i'm thinking about getting a Audi 2014 in the place of my jeep so I;m excited
@@WatsonsWagons oh wow I had a Hummer h2 and it was expensive had it 7 yrs the Jeep has been a thorn in my side bought it used and every 3 or 4 mth check engine light I have change almost every sensor on this thing I will think about the Audi hard Thanks for your honesty
@@WatsonsWagons is this car worth buying I have enough just to buy the audi q7 2008 I want it for family traveling you think is worth it I drive a honda accord 2005 2 door you think this car worth it
Goofy tube The car is a good car we used it for long road trips it was very comfortable. However it’s heavy and it eats tires. Maintenance costs are expensive but if you know what you’re doing then go for it otherwise just think about the cost of tires and maintenance that go along with the high car payment. Everything in the car worked fine without an issue.
Am just about to change my Audi Q7 Sport Edition’s oil 3.0 TDI I have here in Scotland 🏴 take 507 Castrol Edge 5w30 Fully Synthetic. I am also going to change the fuel filter as diesel’s requires the fuel filter to be changed more often.
FYI, I believe that engine is not a turbo, it's super charged. Maybe you can clear that up for me. I have a 2015 Q7 S-line prestige. The motor has the TFSI like the one in the video, yet it says super charged on the S-line badge on the side of the vehicle? So confusing. thx in advance!
Correct the guy recording has no clue its supercharged NOT turbo. They didn't make a 3.0 turbo gas car. Only a Turbo Diesel. Audi is just weird and keeps the emblem 3.0T.
Gregory Fairchild If you’re talking about the extra seal that came with the filter it’s for a different car like a Volvo or something. Same filter fits different housings
Thank you for this....this was is definitely the everyday man tutorial. Remarkable job man....right to the point. I have subscribed.

Very helpful, easier than I thought it would be. Thank you, where does the other seal go?

Other seal actually goes on the oil filter housing on the motor
Thx for the video man!
Appreciate your video! Helped a ton!

Thanks for the video. Don’t forget to rotate tires.
Voice of Little Saigon car is long gone, momma got rid of it. Speaking of tires this car eats them up for lunch. Very bad on tires
Watson's Wagons I almost traded in my Lexus RX 450H for Q7 🙁

Maybe with the money you saved by changing your own oil you could spring for new tires instead of running on the cords
How many liters fill??

Audi states to use 5w40 or 5w30 if 40 is not available for gasoline engines and strictly 5w30 for diesel.

Does your audi burn oil?
hi Watson, this is the diesel engine right?, mine is gas so is not the same oil right? thanks.
Duglas Estrada this is a gas engine
Duglas Estrada diesel uses a different oil look at castrol edge full synthetic for Diesel engines
actually mine is gas, this is great info, thank you very much!
check out FCP Euro, lifetime warranty on all products, including oil (yes, you can send back old oil for a refund!)
Love it, the muscle mechanic...I'm a bigger hammer mechanic! Makes me almost not want to pay $120 for an oil change...Almost.
The other seal?
Gregory Fairchild If you’re talking about the extra seal that came with the filter it’s for a different car like a Volvo or something. Same filter fits different housings
Looking at mine, it goes on the engine side of the filter hoisting
@@WatsonsWagons Skinny o-ring goes around outside top of exposed filter housing when filter is removed on 2015 q7 v6...
Last time I did oil change on my q7 oil came out of the filter and it was all over the catalyst haha what a mess.
Luis Zian ouch, you’re oil seal must have slipped out when installing the cap.
Your video looks easy enough, but my oil hit the frame and poured all over the place.
Castrol sucks as oil.
