      Thanks, mate! I'm glad you enjoyed the drive, even in the rain. Who knew a little rain could make the west coast even more stunning? Keep watching for more driving videos that will give you plenty of food for thought (and maybe a few laughs too)!

    yep! that's the rod an American towed a carvan down circa 1970's and swore he'd never ever travel it again. Lodsa gravel; half the width; tripple the curves 2000 foot drop down one side and 1000 foot rise up the other. traveled it every few months for a swim meeting with the Westport swim club who were as competitive as anyone and the finest of coasters ever. Thank you Pete.

      Who needs a roller coaster when you can experience all the twists and turns on this road? Just make sure to bring a sick bag!

    Cape Foulwind named in 1770 by Captain James Cook. First sighted in 1642 by Dutch Explorer Abel Tasman. Love your road trips Pete. Maybe one day you'll visit the Mainland.

    Thanks Pete. Enjoyed the drive. Sometimes I didn't catch the name of a location (e.g. the spot near a bridge that has markets) Would appreciate seeing a top locality's name on screen, as you drive along. 🦘 🇦🇺

      Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate your suggestion and I'll definitely consider adding the locality names on screen for future drives. Stay tuned for more exciting content!

    I think it was Charlston where for a bit there were quite a few tens of thousand miners there for the gold. Around 37 to 90+ hotels or so. i guess digging was as thirsty then as now.

      Wow, that's fascinating! It's amazing to think about the gold rush and how it attracted so many people to that area. The thirst for gold and the thirst for a cold drink never seems to change!

      Charleston would be a good place to check out Pete. Lots of history and more to the place than meets the eye

    20 years ago ya would see a lot of hit and run possums on the road, but my last drive through there all I seen was a lot of weckers that had been taken out

    • @AdventureTravelNewZealand
      @AdventureTravelNewZealand  11 месяцев назад +1

      It seems like the possums have finally realized that playing "possum" doesn't work well with cars passing by. They've decided to step up their game!
