We are all immensely proud in what you’ve achieved. Your resilience and courage in a tough situation shone through. The “Slow boat to Melbourne “ videos have been fantastic! I’m sure I’m not the only one who stopped what they were doing to watch the latest update as soon as the notification came through. Now time to rest, briefly, and then go again for ‘28. We will all be supporting you throughout the times ahead. 👍🏽😎
@PipHareOceanRacing I was one of the people at the dock and was chatting with others. There was a couple who have a boat down on the Peninsula and they mentioned they haven't been sailing much this season - because she has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and has just started a course of chemo. They, I and another person there discussed adversity and the sudden turns in life that mean that one moment you're on a certain course, and the next moment, everything has changed, and you're on a different track or in a different race. The lady's husband said how inspirational he found your example, and they were both obviously uplifted by your achievement. The lady said she was being realistic about how hard the next few months were going to be, but also said, "all I want to do is get on the boat and go sailing, I can't wait for April!"
You should be incredibly proud of what you achieved Pip. I know it doesn't compensate for the loss of a Vendee finish back at Les Sables, but personally I think that the Slow Boat really took you to another level - perhaps more than completing the race itself? Whatever, you got yourself to safety, so now it's roll on 2028. You really are special. ❤
Great Pip, you're the story - the lesson in resilience - of VG24. You deserve the cheers of all the people in Les Sables. I hope there will be an opportunity for that. People will not forget Pip Hare 2024.
I am soooo proud of you and with you ‼️ You made an unbelievable job for you, for your Medallia, for your team and sure you can just be proud‼️‼️‼️🎉🌊⛵️ Hope, people in Melbourne will help you ✊️✊️🤞🤞 Take care ❤😊 Greetings from Eckernfoerde, North-Germany from an 82 years old woman, that never was sailing 🤔👩🦳
Greetings from Germany
A remarkable lady put to the test only encountered in nightmares coming through with flying colours. A great display of competence, ability and determination is shared with us and will stand as an example and guide for others to follow. Many thanks for your generosity in sharing this adventure.
Dear Pip, you are absolutely right to be proud of the way you dealt with this situation in the rough seas you have chosen to sail in. You show impressive seamanship and a remarkable sense of responsibility. Those who, like me, have never dared to sail beyond wind force 7-8 or sea force 4-5 are overwhelmed with respect for people like you. The Vendée Globe is much more challenging than climbing Mount Everest. Staying safe in the conditions you encountered is remarkable! Don’t be sad. Be proud as you say you are!
You can be proud and humble. Proud of you first. Proud of your courage and strength. Congratulations ❤. Humble face to the ocean which has been kind with you. We are so happy because you are SAFE !. Pip Thank you for the dreams you have been shared with us ❤️✨⭐️🌟👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Pip Hare. You are an amazing inspiration. The emotional depths you plunge into and rise out of are lessons for many to learn from. I always feel chipper at listening and watching. Thanks for the journey.
Pip Hare is my hero, my favorite athlete of any kind, and one of my favorite human beings. Her humility, realism, and resilience are inspiring in the extreme. ❤🎉
I'm really happy for you, Pip. You're such a wonderful and likeable sailor, you never give up and even when it's really hard for you, you can always laugh heartily. All the best to you! 🍀
You should indeed be proud of yourself and your seamanship! The dismasting was very bad luck, but you are one of the best sailors in the world and immediately did what needed to be done to get yourself to safety. Thanks for the very nice slow boat series and I can't wait to see you at the starting line of the 2028 VG! 💪
Congrats Pip, as you said, you did very well, managing and going through by your own means. Preventing anyone else to take any unnecessary risk. Vous etes une grande dame
We were watching the vendee globe daily updates and were gutted when you dismasted. Since then have loved and been totally inspired by the slow boat to Melbourne. The moment when you smelt Australia and then saw land The innovation and calm courage. Knew at the end you would receive a warm Aussie welcome, felt the emotion when Little Miss Magic was on her way. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. Good luck in 2028
Right up there with the other heroic self rescues in the Vendee history books. Remarkable seamanship, remarkable mental attitude. Cant wait to see you in 2028 edition
Going to miss your slow boat updates and agree that you should be proud of having a mast and sailing again within 3 hours and trusting your skills and seamanship to get yourself safely to Melbourne. Take care Pip the journey is not over and further adventures await. Greg 🇬🇧
Yes Pip yourself made ! And pride to be alive and pride to get back your boat that share with you this adventure. And pride also not to make danger for others because of your choice. You are a great person. In love total 💞🥰💋🙋♀️ Melbourne is a good choice for a rest 🐒👍😎💝😃
Pip you are right. Taxpayers should not be funding rescues of people who choose to take risks on sports that are risky. If your keel failed and you flipped over that's a different thing, but you really proved that not every setback requires the Australian Navy to rescue a person in the southern ocean. I have mates from your home port and they are all very proud of the efforts you made to self rescue and I am very proud of the Aussies that came out to help you and those who came to say gidday when you arrived in Melbourne. I hope you enjoy your time here. Best of luck with your recovery and I hope to see you on the high seas again soon.
Brave brave Pip! What a resilient, tough, and good humoured Dame! It was both kind of scary and fascinating following you on the (not so) Slow Boat to Melbourne. Quite a case study ]. All the Best for the New Year
Congratulations for getting to Melbourne and being able to trouble shoot and get to shore independently like you did. So sorry that your mast broke. It could have happened to any contestant. Your ‘can do’ attitude is awesome. You will come back and conquer.
"the slow boat to melbourne" has been one of the best things on youtube for a long long time.
Could be a titel of a new „Race“? Be brave, be responsible, stay in nature with the opportunities you have.
Great Job Pip, congratulations!
