I have one for you! In Tales of Destiny, if you run around grinding in one place on the world map for too long, a big guy named Barbados shows up to stop you. If you use any items, he goes nuts and probably one shots your entire party. The only feasible option is to run.

In “The Overseer Project” if you achemized too many swords, an enemy would appear which is an amalgamation of many many swords
(This was to encourage people to use other weapon types, so not as many of the weapons designed would be swords)

@@Asakedia Honestly the different “strife specibi” (the items that let you use weapons of a given type - you pick one to start with and have a chance of collecting others dropped by enemies) didn’t really have different gameplay. It was an HTML + PHP based game, so it wasn’t like there were different weapon animations with different frame data. Some of the weapons had special effects, but I don’t think they were really correlated with the overall weapon type.
A kind of funny thing was that, higher level players who didn’t have the swordkind strife specibus, would often deliberately collect a bunch of swords, in order to fight the sword amalgamation enemy, to defeat it in order to get exp and to sell/recycle the even-more-swords that it would drop upon death.

That's why you sell one at a time. That's actually how you grind XP in Mercantile in the Elder Scrolls Oblivion, each transaction is a flat increase no matter what you sell. So hoard those arrows.

In reality, you just skipped talking to the NPC in the first town who tells you rumors about a monster in the water. That fish is 20g per fish for a reason.

There is asomething so relaxing about fishing in RPGs. But i hate how they have the character standing up for the whole duration.
What else are they supposed to do, sit? :? Don't they have to put their whole back into reeling? (Unless that's not animated enoguh in some games)

This is why you save, even during and between the mundane tasks. Never know when bosses are afoot.

He forgets that the merchants have limited amount of gold, so if he only has 1000 gold then he can only sell 50 fish if each one is worth 20 gold.
If he buys one fish for 20 gold im pretty sure he's pretty rich, i get it he likes fish but i don't think he's paying that much just because he likes fish, he probably has around one million gold

There was this online RPG I used to play as a kid where you had to pay to leave the starting area, but I was too young to understand that or have money so I used to spend hours just fishing near the bridge. Good memories.
