The title is confusing. The show is good yet you don't care?
Ok, the beginning of the video explains, that you don't care who knows that you like the show. I mean, the second season is insanely better than the first season. It's kind of hard to deny that. I haven't heard of anyone not liking the second season.
But good to know y'all are feeling it. I wonder what happened, that the show got so much better. It first came out with Willow and House of the Dragon, and in my opinion, it was 3rd place in that list of fantasy shows that came out around the same time. Now it's better than all of them.
4:09 Yeah Jeff Bezos is supposedly a major fan, and won the license for Lord of the Rings over HBO and Netflix because he said he was willing to do what the Tolkien estate wants. But the problem was, he wanted it to be like GOT. Which explains the pace of the 1st season and why it didn't work. In GOT it starts drama-heavy and slowly transforms into a fantasy series. That does not work with Lord of the Rings. In GOT it worked because people didn't know what to expect. In Lord of the Rings, people already expect Lord of the Rings, not GOT.
This season showcases characters, species, and elements straight out of Tolkien's mind in every single episode. They're just showing us full-blown Lord of the Rings, and that is what the fans want to see, not human drama. Limit the human world, and just start straight with the elves, orgs, dwarves and hobbits. Also, Tolkien wasn't about showing drama without some fun, horror, and magic.
The first season may have been slow because Jeff Bezos may have gotten too involved. I'm not sure, but it's all on Wikipedia. He wanted a new version of GOT and most likely wanted to use the same formula.
Also, the main creators, JD Payne & Patrick McKay, have little experience. S1 was their very first huge project that actually went through. So by S2, they must have figured out what the fans want to see.
