You don't need to break the chain on the quick link to disconnect it, you can use the pliers you used at the end to open the quick link.
The quick link can be reused multiple times (shimano advises against it, but you can use it no problems). KMC also makes reusable quick links.

I was going to say something similar but i understand the purpose was to show us how yo remove the chain which in reality, if it is not worn or broken, why remove it just to clean it…?
It is absolutely not necessary and I would not recommend anyone to do this unless they have time on their hands and / or love their ride to death!
I have been an avid bike fan since 1975 long before mountain bikes were invented over there in Marin county ( Great bikes by the way! ) and have been involved in road bikes and mtb or if you like, atb and all I see here is visual display and not any oral explanation.
I own a Moots titanium enduro, a cannon dale scapel, a Specialized Rockhopper first edition in 1991 , a Specialized Stumpjumper fsr with Brian fade and a delicious Roxy Low designed for Ibis bikes, ibis Mojo from 2007.
None of which have ever been stripped of their chains…

shi didnt have the quick link originaly on the chain that why shi brake it and add new quick link later, only some shimano models come with quick link.

Great job. I usually don't remove the chain to clean it, because I use a cloth soaked in degreaser and a shoe string to pass between the links. However I'm going to replace my chain soon, since it's a bit loose after 3000km. This time I bought a Shimano CN-HG701 with quick link👍

By the way,
After you put the lube, and put it one drop per link, you better wipe it all from the outside of the chain.
You only need the lube inside the chain on the pins.
The outside must be totally dry so it wont catch sand and dirt.
Wipe the chain after every ride.

저는 체인하고 스프라켓 청소할 때 스텐레스 통에 백등유나 아세톤(화기주의)에 담궈서
잠시 살상 흔든 뒤에 1~2시간 있다가 꺼내서 마른천으로 닦으면 깨끗하게 잘 닦이더라구요,
특히 제인은 겉은 깨끗한데 속에 묶고 찌든때가 안빠져 나오는데
이렁게 하면 깨끗하게 청소가 되더라구요~

저렇게 풀 정비하기가 쉽지 않은데 민댕님의 자전거에 대한 애정과 열정이 느껴지네요ㅎㅎ 그리고 체인청소할때 외에도 장갑을 끼는 것을 추천합니다. 손과 팔이 더러워 지는것은 씼으면 되지만, 의외로 다치는 경우가 많아요(대부분 힘 조절 실패 혹은 미숙함). 흰색 목장갑은 손의 감각이 둔해서 별로 추천 안 합니다. 다이소 가시면 얇은 코팅장갑 있으니 그걸 쓰시는 것을 추천할게요.:)

Mindy Салют , когда будите в следующий раз чистить цепь возьмите бутылку с большим горлышком например 500мл. налейте 150мл растворителя недорогого закройте плотно крышкой и просто минут 10 по трясите бутылку вы удивитесь какая цепь станет чистой ещё больше потом дайте просохнуть минут десять он быстро выветриться и можно устанавливать на байк и смазывать .

카세트 조립하실때 (또 다른 부품 조이실때) 토크렌치 사용하는거 추천해요~ 그리고 카세트는 조이실때 렌치 뺏다 끼었다 안하셔도 프리허브 때문에 렌치만 왔다 갔다 돌리시기만하면 저절로 조여저요!

So that the chain is super clean and lubricated and not waste a single watt of power after each pedal stroke...🚴♂️☺ in my opinion, the best thing would be to leave it completely submerged for a few minutes inside a plastic container with a lid with some specific degreaser for bike or dishwashing detergent could also be used..! the latter being less corrosive in case we do not remove the chain to clean our bike, and not worry about damaging other more delicate components. In this way, being immersed, the liquid would easily reach each part of it, such as the rollers, internal and external plates, pins and bushings. Then we shake the chain for a few minutes inside the container and we will see how the cleaning liquid becomes darker and darker with which we would clearly see how each particle of grease, gravel, etc. is taking off. of the parts that make up the chain. The process can be repeated 2 or 3 times depending on how dirty each link is... until you can see the clear cleaning liquid without traces of oil, grease or dirt. Interspersed with the "chain shake" we can include a superficial brushing with a toothbrush or similar, so the external dirt is removed more easily.

Great video ! Have you considered waxing your chain ? Initial process to totally degrease the chain requires more effort but the long term maintance is alot easier and cleaner for the entire drive chain.
I don't think wax is good. It's hard to do afterwards.

체인청소할때 게토레이 병에 경유 3/2넣고 체인 푹담그고 흔들어준뒤에 갈고리로 건져서 수건에 닦고 몇시간 방치하면 경유에 찌꺼기 가라앉음 다른 병에 맑은 경유 옮기고 보관하면서 반복하면서 줄어드는 양만 나중에 보충하심 경유 1리터로 1년이상 쓸수 있어요 편하기도 하고
와~ 그런 방법이 있었군요 어렵지만... 우선 가지고있는 클리너 다 쓰고나면 나중에 한번 도전해보도록 할게요. 조언 감사합니다.👍

Paused the video at 4:34 and there's a QUICK LINK on that chain. Either she broke a chain that did not need breaking or installed a clean quick link onto a dirty chain only to clean it?
Also, if you're going to break a chain for clean then you might as well soak it in Turpentine and then mineral spirits.
The jokey wheels should have also been removed.
The only thing I saw done correctly was the removal of the cassette for cleaning so well done.
17:31 You forgot to grease the cassette ring so good luck getting that off next time.

체인핀을 제거하고 링크를 걸려면 링크길이 많큼 한칸 조정하고, 링크를 사용하면 관리하기가 편리합니다.
나중에는 풀리도 렌치로 풀어서 세척하면 깔끔하게 할 수 있습니다.

저는 자전거는 초보 단계라서 뭐라 크게 드릴말씀은 없는데요
미관적(외관) 세척의 관점에서 잠시 말씀드리면 스프레이 세정제 같은것은 본체에 직접 도포 하시는 것보다
타올에 도포하시고 닦으시면 더 편하고 좋으실거에요(낭비도 없을뿐더러 다른곳에 튀는것을 방지)
또한 타올로 닦으실때 본체에 스크레치,스월 발생되지 않길 원하신다면
물에 적신 후 물기 제거하시고 하시면 마른 타올보다는 많이 좋을거에요(+도색보호)
또한 오염물 붙어있는 상태에서 도색면에 문지르게 되면 기스가 나기 때문에
먼저 송풍기, 에어건 같은걸로 제거 하고 닦는것도 괜찮을 것 같습니다(있으시다면..)
제가 자동차 세차를 빡시게 하는 편이라 생각나는거 말씀드렸네요

날씨도 무더운데..., 건강 유의하시고 .., 그런데 체인의 체인링크를 불리 할 때, 그리고 조립을 할때 한가지 더 공구가 필요해요.
홀더 또는 체인고리라고 하는데 시중에 파는지는 모르겠는데..., 못쓰는 스포크 또는 철사로 된 옷걸이를 이용하여 사용하면 더 편리하게 체인을 분리 조립 할 수 있을 겁니다.
자전거 숍에가면 가르처 줄겁니다. ㅎㅎ
그래요.
이렇게 자주 해보면 요령이 생기겠지요. 수고 했어요.^^

Many of us use different strategies for bike maintenance. Generally removing the chain isn't necessary with frequency cleanings....paper towel saturated in mineral spirits....backspin chain through the paper towel....does a nice job cleaning the chain then relube.
More invasive cleaning? Remove the chain....surprised you didn't have a quick disconnect link on the chain...Small plastic or glass bottle with a lid. Pour mineral spirits in the bottle, insert chain, put cap on bottle....let soak for a minute....shake. No need for brushing. Just use mineral spirits and not spray degreaser. Again, chain doesn't have to come off the bike very often at all if you adhere to the protocol of wiping the chain with paper towel and mineral spirits....pedal backwards with the bike on the stand.

Mindy, you should try getting the ultrasound cleaner, for chain and other dirty components it really is a game changer...

They are not expensive at all. It can Clean your chain perfectly well. I have had mine for 2-years and it is amazing!

Great job, Mindy, but not necessary if you use wax chain lube, no oil to clean off the bike, gear, hands, clothes, no detergent needed to wash bike, wiping out bearings, cables, longer drivetrain life.. melting wax is best, but most bottled wax is good too.

The half cut milk jug is a good one for brushing. I use a old one 100 mls of white spirt and a old scourer pad. Close the lid and shake on and off for about as long to drink a coffee.
I then dry the chain and brush, it comes out pretty well.
