- Possibly one of the longest-running funds in all of wrestling Big Daddy Vs Giant Haystacks.
We saw so many big singles matches between the two, so many different tag-team partners and here we have something a bit different.
Team Haystacks "Wrecking Crew" comprising of Scrubber Daly & Lucky Gordon Vs All-Stars Big Daddy Alan Kilby & Pat Patton
Dispensing with the usual rules, this was a massive six-man elimination match, more akin to WWE type rules, with both men each picking two partners.
We have been arguing over the year of this contest, it looks to be circa 1984 as Daly & Gordon were tagging regularly at this time.
The problem at this time was the crabtrees. They had control of the wrestlers and didn’t want big daddy to lose to anyone. Most wrestlers were fed up of them but knew being on tv was giving them massive exposure. Giant haystacks was a really nice guy outside of the ring happy to stop and take pictures or sign autographs for his young fans a real gentleman giant. The same can’t be said for Shirley aka big daddy the rumour has he wasn’t all that keen on all the kids but seemed to put with it. They made sure big daddy was popular because of all the merchandise he sold
Heard that Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks were once a tag team in the early seventies.

WOS was great but when you where watching the same thing in regards of big daddy it becomes rather repetitive and boring. The only thing that made ITV wrestling more interesting was the introduction of All star wrestling with the likes of Rocco, bridges,saint etc at least that was wrestling.
