What a great way to start the day. Theres a bakelite on craigslist right now for $15. Im trying not to spend money right now but it is hard to ignore. I love all your content. Thank yoy
Good morning Ron. A little late but all the best for a happy and healthy new year 2024! I missed to see you in one of your nice dresses. Maybe it was to cold toe wear them? Loved the tips how to adjust the filters on the radio. I'm always impressed of your knowledge and skills! Hope to see many more of your videos! Many greetings from Germany
I literally just checked my subscriptions yesterday to make sure I was still subscribed to your channel. Making sure YT was playing fair, ya know! But no new videos. 😢 Glad to see you back, Ron! Love all your videos, but your glass tube making are my favs! Happy New Year!
2023 was a very busy year for me with some house maintenance, putting in the huge vacuum tube collection. I'm back to making videos again now, and tube making is in the list!
Ah a Truetone. Looked it up and it is a Western Auto Supply sold radio . Model D2815 from 1948, 76 years ago. Thanks for sharing your amazing skillset Ron with these old radio repairs. I still need to use the original schematics to figure out what and where things go. Still learning. Looks like decades of brown nicotine stains covered the cabinet.
Thank you so much for all of your videos. My grandfather had a radio repair business in the 30s-50s. My father had some relics laying around that are now working. Repaired a wire recorder and I have electronic ghosts of aunts, uncles, grandparents and my father keeping me company. Can't thank you enough.
I "liked" this video because there is thoroughly nothing not to like about it. I appreciate you: sharing your experience and knowledge with us; bringing back to life this beautiful old radio (and all the others you've healed or resurrected); and, (last but not least) your choice of masculine attire (that's a nice flannel shirt) for this video.
Keep up the GREAT work Glasslinger! Always good to see your videos. Very relaxing to see a time when we didn't need a jewelers loupe and hot tweezers for electronic repairs. 73
I'm New to your Channel & I love it You have a life time of knowledge That's being forgotten and the amount of different Subjects is so Vast I'm glad your Sharing it whih the World 🌎 So please Keep them Coming I've learnt so much from you allredy. You wher Recycling Before it Got To be The Right thing to Do .My Hat goes off to You please keep the Videos coming From 🇬🇧...
For bakelite housings I like to use shoe polish, this may be colorless, polish out nicely after application. Works very well . Greetings from Germany ( Ruhr area )
Happy New Year to you. I was a tech for many years. I retired about a year ago. You remind me of how satisfying fixing things is. My wife is always impressed when I take something apart and fix it (try at least).
Hi Ron your tech friend from up north Dave here nice video you do such good work hope to see another video soon your friend Dave😅. may God bless you and keep you safe all ways
HELLO MR GLASSLINGER NICE TO SEE YOU BACK I HAVE MISS YOU AND YOUR LOVELY CAT DID YOU HAVE A NICE CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BY NOW FROM SYDNEY AUSTRALIA
Ron, I hope you had a happy Christmas and the loverly cat kept you on your toes lol. You just need to teach the cat to repair things :-D Ron, you would beat tech's half your age. Just enjoy your ability's and pet the cat lol. A loverly friend.
Wow Welome back my friend? its so so so nice to see you back in a new video!! Happy New Year to you and yours from Philippines..... Love all your videos!!!
I have a friend with a RUclips channel that you might enjoy. His channel is “oldradios” and he too restores older technological devices. Thanks for this video!
Hey, I haven't seen you for a long time! I've been missing you, and the kitty too. Nice repair. And yeah, those newfangled digital scopes... even tubes are faster, haha! I've got a Tek 468 and it turns on in a bunch of seconds. Good enough. Would appreciate a totally tubular one though.
Keri we have one of those old tube type tek scopes here. I would love to bring it up from storage. They just take up so much room is our big issue here.. Take care sugar
@@jamied2108 yeah, I got rid of my ZRK OS-102 partly because of that: it took too much space in my teeny tiny super crammed lab back then, plu I needed cash. Now I regret it. Bad life decisions... nah.
This is Nice. I had two Uncles that worked in Electronics. It was fun to sit around when they were fixing stuff and I didn't know nothing about what they were doing. It looks easy but it's not.
Hi Ron This radio brings memory's, in the Netherland's back then we had the U series's they had no transformer a lot of people got killed because the chassis was live if you plugged it in the wrong way. They were small and had a Bakelite box. Anyway good show Ron I love it,I follow you a long time now and you never seas d to amaze me. Ron you make your own valves, I have here a Phillips GZ 34 double rectifier 150 mA. Air got in to it,you can tell normally it is silver now white. The valve is new, never used the filaments are OK I checked them. It would be a shame to throw it away. If you interested I will send the valve to you, with your skills, you can repair the valve for own use. I know you in Florida Houston, but I have no address to send it to you other wise you would have the valve already. Don't mention the cost, no problem. Perhaps have a look on my channel tell me what you think. I am 74 years young. Thanks Ron great fun, especially with cat . 73 Jo
There's something really noble about getting those back into their ex-factory state for their next doting owner., who'll hopefully offer a caring home etc
Could you please someday tell us where your antique store is, Name and Location? I really want to buy one of the radios. Keep up the GREAT work Glasslinger!
Молодец, чувак. Давно Тебя смотрю. Интересно рассказываешь, поясняешь, зачем и что, и какие функции, какой компонент выполняет. Специально не на английском написал. Привет из Украины. С Новым Годом
Hello> i thought that was so kind of Mike turnner to make that picture of your kitty inside of that tube with the old radio at the top. I wish he would do that for me.
Hey you're back! Hello to you! Keysight, I'll never give them my business, they outright told me unless I'm a business they won't provide any support what so ever, but they'll happily take my money anyway, ugh There seems to be a growing trend of polishing anything bakelite to a mirror finish, even when that wasn't how a particular model used to be, where do you stand on polish-holics 😂
I was hoping that Ron would get a professional soldering iron for charismas, but I guess we are stuck with the Weller GUN for 2024.... 🙂 BTW, next to my soldering iron and DVM my Hot Glue Gun is the second most used repair tool in the test equipment arsenal!! But keep in mind that not all Glue Sticks are the right type and the same goes for the glue gun, some dont get hot enough to melt the high quality glue sticks.. Robert
You are alive !!! Was thinking about you the other day. And here you are. As always, thankyou for showing us the old ways.
That cat! Love it. Happy New Year all kitty lovers.. Oh, and radio/TV/Hi-Fi restoration people.

I will come back and watch it after work. Just wanted to say WOOHOO
I'd love to see you make a tube HF transmitter from scratch sometime!! (Although repairing a guitar tube amp wouldn't be bad either!)

After immortalizing these things here on youtube, it's too bad they don't hit ebay; they'd command a premium price after the exposure.
niice to see you again Ron Happy New Year
Sure would like to see you sling some more glass ;-)
