I EXPECTED Taeyong's vocal transformation when no less than Baekhyun, proud wielder of one of the most highly skilled & prized VOICES in Kpop, saw past his presumed frailty to Taeyong's true potential & "wanted to give him Strength" Tyongf instantly adored Baekyun for his insight concern & kindness to Our Boi. Baekhyun DID express an avid...interest...in mentoring (also merging with!) highly desired Lee Taeyong. Not only did they devinely court each other (to our delight) on the maiden tour of SuperM but in his Candy comeback, Baekhyun openly SPOILED his intention to collaborate with Taeyong on a VOCAL level. And Steamy Taeyong sealed Baek's spoiler with a...molten...tictok candy dance. In the summer before the ONE CD dropped BaekYong were clearly ON course AS a #KpopPowerCouple to expect BIG things from. And on SuperM's first cd we had cause to anticipate that Taeyong would be...singing...at Baekyun's side. But that did not happen. AS for so called "simping" I prefer to call it a sincere WORKING relationship based on shared attraction affection & mutual goals. For I truly think that IS what Taeyong & Baekyun honestly HAD together till something or someone got between them. So I could not hide (neither could taeyong) my confused dismay to see the earliest sign of their split during the 100 reaction video. Spoiled. It didn't...happen...and it now seems, the only place we KNOW for certain that Baekyun has taken Taeyong....was to bed.
Taeyong isn't born with talent but he's born with persistence. He is one of the most famous dancers and rappers in the whole industry because of all of that hard work that eventually paid off. He does make mistakes and is definitely not a perfect singer but he needn't be. After all, It wouldn't have been fair for the rest of the industry if he was an excellent singer as well now, would it? ;)
He is innately talented though because no matter how much a person trains if they don’t have a natural inclination - they wouldn’t be good through effort alone. Look at the number of idols in the industry who have worked hard and still can’t sing/rap or dance well. Taeyong didn’t have any background in dancing etc like a lot of idols and was definitely older when he first started training but he’s a rarity which is why a lot of fans consider him a genius as he learned things quickly and eclipsed people who have trained for YEARS in the space of a few MONTHS. that’s pure talent AND hard work.

Technically, Taeyong’s voice got some interesting potential to it. While it’s true his voice is a bit thin and unstable, and he can only sing well on his own natural pitch, he would make surprisingly nice vibratos (and he seems to like using them too) and sometimes hit high notes (albeit they're weak, but they sound ok). So the potential is definitely there, and he can sing better if he trains to widen his range and stabilize his vocal, I also enjoy the texture of his sound. But the thing is he’s already expert in other fields of his profession, like dancing and rapping, and he’s still perfecting them. So it’s not very logical to put too many time on vocal training where other members shine. And if he did wouldn’t ppl be even more upset abt stealing spotlights again? They’re upset even now lol.
He might take a few professional lessons (since he has never taken vocal lessons, only rap, dance and acting) before he releases his solo album since I'm pretty sure he'll be singing as well as rapping in his songs.

I never hear people ask RM, suga, bangchan, zico, mino, JB, bobby, chanyeol, eunhyuk or mark lee to be main vocals or cover main vocals, but not with TY. he must be able to cover main vocals even become main vocal. and he is criticized for not being able to sing like baekhyun, doyoung, taeil, haechan or KRY...it is insane

Technically, Taeyong’s voice got some interesting potential to it. While it’s true his voice is a bit thin and unstable, and he can only sing well on his own natural pitch, he would make surprisingly nice vibratos (and he seems to like using them too) and sometimes hit high notes (albeit they're weak, but they sound ok). So the potential is definitely there, and he can sing better if he trains to widen his range and stabilize his vocal, I also enjoy the texture of his sound.
But the thing is he’s already expert in other fields of his profession, like dancing and rapping, and he’s still perfecting them. So it’s not very logical to put too many time on vocal training where other members shine. And if he did wouldn’t ppl be even more upset abt stealing spotlights again? They’re upset even now lol.

Actually I'm here cause I was searching about what taeyong did if he wasn't in the music industry (because a lot of people pity him for not being good at dancing or rapping at the beginning of his career) and that was before I knew that he actually graduated from SOPA, so I searched what he studied in SOPA and turns out it was practical music and I think that means he was actually training to be a singer in school, not a rapper and yeah, his vocals are gooood
