      That's exactly what we don't do in Denmark. We work together and we have some of the best farmers in the world, that understand climate change and that we all have to do something. At the same time the public also understands that we need food.

      So tell me the actual solution to our pollution problems? I don't have any magic answers and the mega corporations rarely pay any meaningful taxes, and somehow we go on and on, debate things forever ad nauseam, give billions to corporations as subsidies to avoid making any meaningful progress, then go and say how did these problems happen. So the government of Denmark negotiated a first step carbon tax solution or rather a methane tax solution and now I positively guarantee this, the corporate farming bodies will be demanding methane capture solutions to avoid paying this tax. I know there isn't any perfect solutions here for any of our many problems, but not making a decision is a decision, so in this case, made a decision and I am waiting now for working solutions to alleviate the actual fundamental problems. Bravo Denmark. Cheers from Canada

    • @Tearsofsoil
      @Tearsofsoil Месяц назад +2

      @ instead of taxing farmers and cattle for flatulent. Tax rich corporations, oil companies, large vehicle owners, and people based on the amount of their carbon footprints. GDP in present system is measured by the amount of spending and resources consumed , how can be reduce pollution with such definition of GDP. We need people who consume as per their needs and produce less waste and this can be done by carbon tax on the waste human does. Ofcourse my flatulents or flatulent of cattle should be kept out of this. It must be like amount of gasoline , wood, petrol or such hydrocarbons i consume. And it can be taxed by increasing cess duties on petrochemical products. These tax or cess money should be used for forestations and developing carbon sinks and subsiding green solutions and lifestyle to people. Thus carrot for green solutions and stick for hydro carbons. Also, amount of meat consumption should also be included in carbon print. The cess should be at point of sale instead of source. Farms which produce meat with less carbon print must be taxed less than farms with heavy carbon print. This will promote free ranging cattle ranching and better conditions for cattle. “Products to have cess based on its carbon output at point of sale. “.. THIS will affect demand and skew demand towards greener products and solutions and also make producers to shift their agricultural methods if they want to enter into European markets. This will thus favour Europeans producers who are more complaint towards green methods and solutions…
      But here, taxes are imposed at point of production. Consumers will still have easy access to cheap , heavy carbon producing meat from other parts of the world. Thus it will only affect Danish farmers while still having no impact on pollution

    I've looked through the comments and, I gotta ask, did ANY of you LISTEN? 😂
    It's an agreement made WITHOUT the government. It's an agreement between the Farmer's Lobby and the Climate Lobby. Get it? LOB-BY.
    The agreement was signed and sent as a proposal TO the government! The government NEVER even ONCE ASKED for this. The parties involved did it THEMSELVES.

    Whenever the EU increases farming subsidies, then the land prices will automatically increase to eat up the surplus. If we taxes agriculture then the land prices will decrease to eat up the loss.
    We need a regulation mechanism to automatically lower the subsidies during years of abundance, so we have something to give during years of crisis.

    Oh just imagine what would be the reaction in the US, where there are these MASSIVE subsidies for corporate farms. They would be screaming communism and socialism without any concept of the actual meaning of these systems and any actual understanding or even willingness to understand the fundamental methane problem. Very interesting decision on the part of Denmark. Cheers from Canada
