Thanks! Unfortunately it fell out of my pocket on the trapline and it snowed a foot that night. I can't find it. I guess in spring we will see how that oil and wax finish holds up to the elements!
I have owned a few commercially available slingshots. The good ol Daisy wrist rocket as a kid. I had a scout and a HDPE frame but I gave them all away after I figured out I can make whatever I want. It's more fun that way.
Lovely work, you get around using a moisture meter by just weighing the wood once it stops getting lighter it's dry. That warp was probably unavoidable especially when going quickly you have more moist sapwood on the one side and when drying the rings pretty much always flatten out.
Been waiting patiently for your next upload... I noticed you used thera-band instead of the green. Do you like it better? I have used it but recently, all of the bands have deteriorated. Is that common? Also, Where do you get your green band material?
Thanks for waiting! I will be dropping another one here in a couple hours. It is not Thera-band. It is Burning Skull brand latex; far superior to Thera-band in my opinion. I ordered the Green GZK latex from GZK's website.
Another great build, Mike. thanks for bringing us along. It's very, very educational. and helpful Thanks much
Thanks for having a look!
Good call on trimming the ears off. That made it look so clean in the lines.
Excellent shop and beautiful build, slinger.
Thanks. I agree it looks better without the ears.
He makes it look so easy they are the best natural frames I’ve seen what he makes
That is high praise. I enjoy the process!
Turned out beautiful Mike
Thank you! Unfortunately about a week after finishing, it fell out of my pocket on the trapline. I hope I can find it in the spring.
@@sturmslingshotsandshenanigans oh noooooo…..hope you find it as well
Beautiful frame bro 👍

Cracking job mate.. can't beat a homemade.... thanks for sharing.. have you ever brought a commercially made slingshot or always homemade?

Agreed. Before the moisture meter I use to just cook it unti it stopped steaming that worked just fine too.
@@sturmslingshotsandshenanigans I like hand tools so not dry is also fine, sanding soggy wood sucks.
Had the build going while making one myself.
Happy shooting!
Lovely frame you made there bud 👏👏
