    This is the exact video I needed right now in my career, math PhD in theoretical probability here and this was super useful thank you

    As a recent physics PhD graduate (HEP ex) pivoting to industry, the practical information shared in this interview is a godsend. Thank you!

    Quant work can be quite boring. I was one, similar background to the guest in the video.

    black holes and Black & Scholes - both theories are wrong though

    • @Apuryo
      @Apuryo 5 месяцев назад

      since he mentioned that his thesis was on string theory and black holes, am I to assume you are stating that black holes theory is wrong because of the criticism string theory receives due to its lack of testability? And regarding black Scholes, ru referring to its simple nature and impracticality in industry?

      @lilep666 5 месяцев назад

      @@Apuryo you can't use black and scholes to price real world options, unless it was on a coinflip...
      black holes theories have 0 evidence and observations. all their "proofs" is just math that doesn't represent reality properly at all

      @@Apuryo i mean the whole concept of a "theoretical physicist" , is kind of stupid, no offense, because real scientists cant keep their theory alive just by math. it's physics! if were trying to understand what is going on in the PHYSICAL, we need to mostly rely on experimenting in real life.

      @@lilep666 I think the issue is that you don't understand the difference between theoretical physics papers and applied physics papers.

      we literally found black holes in real life it isn't a theory anymore. I previously asked you a specific question
