not even his therapist understood how it feels like going shopping and having to listen to the singer who just dumped you for his career telling everyone cryptically about it through the sound system of the supermarket...
"nobody knows what it's like to be shopping in Target and hear a song about you playing above you (...) or sitting on a bench in Silver Lake and the people to your right are talking about going to a concert and you're like it's everywhere" I've always wondered about how would it be being on the other side, being the one that inspired a song.. I've always thought about the poetic side of it like "wow, that piece of art is about me" or "I know the details and the references nobody knows about". Sometimes I've thought about the devasting part of all the memories and the emotions entangled in a certain song. However, listening to you talking about it made me realise that I completely missed the "haunting" part, the song will be everywhere, people will know and all I'll be able to do is stay still and wait until it will all pass. A unique experience surely but way less special than I tought (at least from my perspective).
I feel you. And when shannon said people said she is like woman version of connor. OMG YESSSS AND THIS 2 MAKE SO MUCH SENSE I'VE BEEN IN LOVE WITH BOTH
I love this episode because it seems just like two people having a genuine conversation and catching up. This was amazing, they are both extremely well spoken and clearly very emotionally intelligent. It was really fun to see. Connors comment about media training was funny, I would love to see someone this genuine discuss how having that experience could change some of the ways they communicate. He talked about how it’s almost instantaneous at this point, would that change the ways you communicate with people in romantic relationships?
i’m halfway through listening to this on spotify but had to come over here to leave a comment … i am in love with this episode. connor was one of the first youtubers i ever loved and it is so nice to listen to your conversations. it has been insightful, funny, lighthearted… all the good words lol. would love to have him back on the pod!
lil 15 year old me is SCREAMING... two people who helped me through so much back in the day in the same video not to mention the bi panic being so real
i loved this! ive been slowly returning to my fave youtubers from like ten years ago. i had a huge falling out from youtube and everyone honestly. i dont know why, but im happy to be here.
Connor is proving he is so not boring. Can I just say I can’t believe people were that hateful to Connor after the breakup. That’s insane. I was fan in 2013/2014 of Connor and the relationship you’re talking about. But I never read anything bad about Connor from the songs. People are crazy.
Two of my favourite youtube creators I’m so happy i get to witness this crossover... both of you have such positive impact in my formative years of accepting my sexuality and not only that y’all my favourite personalities online bc ur both so authentic, creative and unpretentious which is so rare for online creators/influencers 😊❤
I don't know how to express properly how happy I am to see you guys together. I love both of your artistic work very much and it feels wholesome to see you together (I am still in the beginning of the pod, but I just had to show my excitement!)
O2L was one of the first youtube channels I subscribed to and it influenced or motivated me so much that I gathered a couple of my friends to have a serious discussion on starting a similar chanel. Many years later I still have no chanel 🤣
Hello Shannon, Here are some questions to choose from for the podcast with your parents. 1. What was the hardest and easiest thing (if anything) during or after your divorce? 2. Apart from the bond with your children, what has allowed you to remain close friends after the divorce until today? What is the secret of your friendship? Do either of you have the same kind of friendship with another ex? 3. Did your friendship as exes and having family gatherings and vacations together negatively impact your romantic relationships after the divorce? For example, your partners didn't understand your friendship or didn't like or appreciate your ex? 4. Do you ever regret having divorced your ex-partner or have you thought, without necessarily having spoken to your ex-partner or your daughters, about getting back together one day? 5. For Mom, Dad and Casey: When Shannon introduces you to a new girlfriend and invites her to family gatherings. What do you think? a) It’s normal. b) She (Shannon) must be madly in love. She rarely introduces her girlfriends except the relationships already known to the public. c) Ouch, upon meeting the family, the girl will run away. d)Another answer? Many thanks Shannon for everything you do. I can’t even imagine the courage and self-sacrifice to share with us who you are and what is important to you. It is a priceless treasure. Sol Ps: with or without a hat you look always great!
I just realized why he looks familiar. Back in the day, YT would have these montages for pride month and there was one like super emotional one with a bunch of clips of lgbt+ youtubers coming out. Shannon was featured in it too. I remember watching that vid several times and crying (before I even realized I was bi).

The industry talk is funny to me. There are plenty of people who have podcasts who are married to quote-unquote “normal people”. Podcasting is pretty normal. ❤I remember dating in LA was a whole bunch of people just trying to date famous people lol! Maybe just look for someone you vibe with. Don’t worry about the “industry”.
I’m so confused about so much that was discussed in this episode. What tik tok beef? Who wrote a song about Connor? And how was that public drama if he’s never had a public relationship? Can we normalize context 😭
What I assume it is: connor dated troye sivan back in the day, and they broke up during the release of blue neighbourhood. Many songs in there could be for connor, but specially "for him.". Theres a lyric video of troye explaining "the good side" (which is also about connor) where he says that he would sing these love songs and people would sing along happily but in reality it had just ended (we assume he was taking about singing "for him." live). Look up this video of troye bc it explains a lot
the tiktok beef was about joey graceffa’s ex daniel preda dissing connor and saying that even thought he was jealous of him he’s the most boring guy ever and the whole thing went viral
it is not cold in minnesota right now. it WAS cold, but not anymore. i won't even think of wearing a jacket nor a sweatshirt outside now. sunscreen yes. it's not cold here anymore.
it's unfortunate, in the dating sphere, to be found highly attractive. so many shallow people who enjoy the attention and ego boost that proximity to beauty brings will glom onto you. they idealize and pedestalize you, never considering, respecting, or allowing you to inhabit - your full humanity.
I'm curious about what your parents think of your podcast. Also, what career path they had envisioned for you? And have they ever considered being gay themselves?
i watched the whole ep and i liked it but i have to be honest, I had no clue what was being referenced in the last half of the episode. seems like there was some drama there but I'm too clueless to know
Connor is Troye Sivans ex bf. Connor got dumped basically for his career. And Troye wrote (somewhat famous) songs about there relationship. Fun fact: both never talked about it publicly.
in the real world i still barely see anyone gay far far around me.. the internet definitely does feel bigger than it is, especially in some countries it is still such a beeeeg deal
i simply adore you, thank you for having me ♥
She really is the most beautiful person ever tho
20:45 "I can't speak for men 'cause I've never been one" "speak for them they speak enough for everyone else" LMAO his deadpan delivery is everything
Was not ready to be in my troye and Connor feels in 2024
