I’ve watched all of the Crime Beat episodes and this one was , by far, the most emotional for me. What stands out in many of these episodes is the deep compassion of the investigators. This episode exemplifies that. I sobbed when their identities were revealed. From the information given, I don’t believe the mother was the killer. The man she was with, was the culprit. I hope the remaining family are living peacefully with this story. It was awful.

Even though we have advanced by leaps and bounds in such a short time with Forensic Science, I can't help but wonder what fascinating discoveries await us in times to come. If the family don’t think it was her… maybe she had to choose between her daughters well being and continued support or them all being cast out onto the street. There is zero proof their Mum killed them, I do not believe she murdered her own kids with an axe after being a devoted mother. The answers are already there, the family said that the government, social workers which in those days was related to the Ministry , took them away. They always believed they were rehomed and they would reunite one day. I believe two fake imposter social workers, pretending to work for the government, literally kidnapped the children under the guise of removing them from the home, without anyone suspecting them at all, and they were raped in the woods almost immediately and killed with an axe by most likely a savage predator paedophile. Serial killers kill children with axes. Not loving mothers.all reports of their family was that she adored her children and the family were close. It's very common that women get used as a cover to pick up kids for predators. She probably still had a bit of a conscience but under the killers control. There are so many ways this could have happened but without proof it's impossible to know. But a stable non crazy loving mother doesn't suddenly breakout into an axe murderer, that's a pure act of extreme rage and hatred.

She didn't think they were missing because she believed two social workers from the Ministry removed them from her care, they truly believed they would reunite with them one-day. Why report them missing ? I don't believe it was her at all, I believe two imposters conned them and actually killed them , only a predator kills children with an axe in the woods, by all accounts she was a loving devoted mother. I think they were probably dead within and hour of being taken away, the man raped them and killed them in a very typical paedophile serial killer style, he axed them to death .his accomplice who controlled, was used to lure kids away. They have zero proof that the Mum did it , the cops made up a story and stuck on that storage story for so many years they way they thought it was a girl and that the kids were so old, you can see the brothers were very young because of the shape of the skulls. Post war, and them being poor, they truly believed the children were being removed to be adopted into the home of a family who could feed them well etc.

They were all taken out of school in the name of transferring them to a different school. The old school had no reason to follow up, the new never existed. They fell through the cracks. I wish I could say it's different now and it wouldn't happen but all it takes is a yt search to see just how many children aren't reported as missing by anyone until months, years after those who were supposed to look after them, protect and love them k'lled them.

A woman in the late forties early fifties with three children, all with different fathers...pretty obvious how she was supporting herself for at least a few years. So even if it was the father who killed them, they probably weren't his children. Now, if they did track down the fathers, would those families appreciate knowing that someone in their past was a John? He, or really they, probably fathered more than one child with more than lady of the night. I don't see the value in tracking those men's families down. Nobody wants that news 70 plus years later.

The reason why the old leads went nowhere is because you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink, the leads went in one ear and out the other, it's total police arrogance, just like Sgt Honeybourne imposing his personal religious beliefs regarding remains, total police arrogance, decades of it.
