In the early 1970s New York City was crime-ridden. As a young boy, my interests were in staying indoors and watching PBS, and when the 3 big Networks used to have family programming (not today's junk), Sunday evenings were special, The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau transported me from the inner-city...into the depths of the world's ocean and its amazing creatures. I would daydream about being one of the Calypso's divers...swimming with dolphins...and falling in love with a mermaid.
Here is to Cousteau for inspiring the children that later became today's Researchers, Scientist, Engineers, Environmentalist. Seems like the world has forgotten about him. Sad. So Sad
