I was the first to arrive, the last to leave and getting the least pay. I vowed never to work for another Jamaican and I’m Jamaican. Smdh. Ppl too disrespectful.
All I can think about is how Jamaicans would much rather do this than stay a Jamaica and live. That just show how bad Jamaica is and mi nuh wrong anybody at all fi tek the risk and run off.
Because eventually u get straight and get better jobs. Just the start that and more money than nuff jobs in ja. Didn’t go through it but have alot of friends who did

Come back a New York fi look bout mi drivers license and man dem a ask if mi can pay fi their own, which was a no. If you move around in the states you can find good jobs. The greatest thing I ever did was to leave own kind and I got treated with so much value even got offered to be the head cook at a sport bar all with no papers bro.
I'm not Jamaica, but I went through a lot of what you went through. As a matter of fact, when I came to this Country was to search for my missing mom, then the hell I went through after that for years with immigration, and people I thought were my friends was unbelievable. I'm writing a book about the entire thing which will be out in a few months, and I will encourage you to do the same as well, and I'm also living two blocks away from C & J. There's a history about that restaurant. Trust me, everyone has a story to tell, and they should.
I was actually trained as a screenwriter which is not really different from an Author, but here's how I normally do it. First, as you know we start with a blank page, then write anything that comes to mind, even if it's "Sandra lies on the bed", we were caught in rain. Just keep writing something everyday, then begin to structure the story. Instead of telling your story, show your story because the idea is to put your reader inside of the story, have them experience what you have experience. So, "Sandra lies on the bed" will now sound like "Sandra lies quietly on the bed with her eyes blankly glued to the ceiling as the tears streamed from her face. her thoughts were so far away that she was not even disturbed by the sliver of light that pierce the room by the slightly drawn curtain". Then, we were all caught in the rain will now sound like this: "The day started out sunny, then within hours a menaced gray cloud appeared overhead and extended across the entire horizon. Daylight completely vanished, then a light rain commenced, then intensified into a brutal, torrential downpour and hammered the Island like nothing I had ever seen before. Sheets of rain battered our bodies like cairns of heavy pebbles, thunders rumbled constantly, and rattled the sky as veins of lightening, scattered, cracked, and illuminated it like billions of fluorescent bulbs". Hope you get the idea as how I tried to show what happen instead of talking about what happen. Everything you written will be your first draft. You will then have to continue writing, and reading your story over and over until you are satisfied enough. Feel free to ask me anything else. I'll be happy to help you with what I can.
