- The New York & Atlantic Railroad operates freight service throughout Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island. We get to see a variety of action shot at numerous locations between 2019 and 2024. Lots of terrific EMD diesel engine noise. NY&A has a fleet of gritty classic ex-LIRR EMD MP15AC and GP38-2 diesels plus leased power and Progress Rail PR20B’s. You will even a few LIRR special moves with classic MP15AC’s for power. You will see.NY&A employees working hard to serve the numerous freight customers in the area. Some of the horns on the NY&A locomotives are quite good. You will see pretty much all of the road power on these trains on Long Island including a rarely seen SW1001.

I hear these guys a few times a week (at night) from my house. It's always after midnight when I hear them blowing their horn for the Pond road and Ocean avenue crossings in Ronkonkoma.
Really thinking about doing my own spin off ho scale modeling of the middle and east end of Long Island. Mainly using Metro North F40PH, P42 and comet II commuter cars (since it's very hard to find prototypical LIRR equipment.) For the freight, I'd use a mix of NY&A as well as Conrail stuff.
Loco around 2 mins in sounds like it has a flat spot.
Some of those newer railcars have absolutely no graffiti coating them. Wonder if they were made graffiti-proof at the manufacturing facility?
