It’s applicable for mortgages underwritten to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines. This would mean a credit score over 680 with 5% down or more.

As mortgages can be sold to other lenders, is there a way to ensure that a new mortgage includes a recast option? We are planning on selling a home after obtaining a new mortgage and would like to recast at that time but am worried that my mortgage may be sold to a servicer that doesn't allow recasting. Is that something that can be "written into the contract" so to speak?
