    Ok, just found this vlog so now understand a lot more about You, this mornings comments about the ADV were without prior knowledge of the accident but hey?, I'm in a similar limited r. leg ability and started with small scooters until I found the DREAM, well actually the Honda NC700D Integra, everything I wanted but NO footwork required so bliss! So long as your leg will lift and shove the foot through the gap you are away, and in mini Goldwing style!

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  Год назад

      Hello again and yeah, no worries 😉 I think if my leg mobility stays as-is but gains a bit more strength I could be tempted by a super-scoot like the 750 Forza and/or maybe a feet forward bike - some sort of cruiser thing (except I don’t like the look of cruisers much). We’ll see and at the moment it’s nice just being able to get out again on the ADV 350.
      Good to hear the Integra is working out for you, all the best, cheers, Phil.

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Chris, good to hear from you and thanks for your comments - glad you the video. The screen is made by PowerBronze www.powerbronze.co.uk/kawasaki-z900rs-18-21-290-mm-430-u272
      It made a little bit of a difference and it does take some pressure off you at speed and you can duck down behind it. Like most flyscreens it does make the wind roar louder though so ear plugs are essential!
      The main benefit, aside from looks is that it does keep bugs off the clocks and it captures quite a lot before they hit you which can only be a good thing. It’s reasonable quality, a good price and is super easy to fit.
      Hope that helps, cheers, Phil.

    I can't decide if I like the French or Swiss clips more . The shots have been wonderful ... I was given a swiss cow bell as a young un by the great modern sculpture Alexander Calder and we use it to call the family all to dinner so when I heard the bell I had a pang of hunger .. I know that stretch to get the Bungee over that last bolt and then it is a miss .. Mostly its the ankles that get it for me .... That is quite a cooky as we say here ... I worked very very hard not bringing up the Guzzi .. I thought it might be that the boat rides on lake Cuomo was keeping the gang too busy to make your bike ..Very exciting news on the Italian front .It is a shame you couldnt just pick it up at the factory :) .Many many warm regards from Yankee land .. Did you know that Yan-kee is the Mohawk word for English ...

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  3 года назад +1

      Hey Guy, how are you doing? Good to see the old Pavlovian response is working well with the Cowbell then...Alexander Calder...Just looked him up...The kinetic art is fabulous. Also, I figured if anyone had a selection of bungee's it would be you and as you know, once bitten by a flying cord, discretion is the better part of valour. So yes, it was a great (if last minute) trip and I did seriously think about heading over to Italy but alas 'the rules' didn't allow it to happen. Maybe next year on the new 850! Not sure what was going on at the factory though - either the boat trips or having a moment every week to get over Rossi retiring? Still it's here now and yep, it's a Guzzi-ish as ever.
      Hope all is well in PA and the pottery Guy...And as always, thanks for stopping by.
      Cheers,

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  3 года назад +1

      Hey Kevin…It felt like a dream to be honest. I never thought I’d get away this year as I couldn’t be doing with the COVID hassle. The reality though, was that it was oh so easy to arrange and once on those glorious roads everything else was forgotten. As for the KTRC light, must admit that even at the time I felt it wasn’t a real issue but more like a warning that the warning light wasn’t working…If that makes any sense! As you say, even when it was flashing it doesn’t got into ‘limp’ mode, so it makes me feel the Z is a touch closer to being an analogue bike than a digital bike, which can only be a good thing.
      More soon and hope all is well where you are, cheers, Phil.

    Slouching…… my only O level was in slouching.
    Don’t worry about the luggage oneupmanship, anyone who spends that sort of money on some metal boxes has much bigger issues. Old army nap sacks lined with a cut up carrimat and some black bin liners. Not beautiful but cheap, far lighter and less likely to get nicked.
    Great tour and thanks for sharing.

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  3 года назад

      Ha ha Hey Christian, how are you doing? O level in slouching, that’s pretty good - think I only managed a CSE to be honest. I was obviously paying too much attention 😀
      Cut up Karrimat and bin bags, brilliant. I used to put bread bags over my trainers when riding in the rain on my GP100 until my bother said I get an evil yeast infection in my big toe. Which stupidly I believed.
      It’s not quite luggage envy but more that everyone else always looks like they know what they’re doing. Maybe it’s imposter syndrome 😀
      Must dash now, I’m going to make a top box out of an old bread bin. Sliding lid, front loading - perfect!

      Hey Michael, on the efi, there’s a comment below where another owner mentioned that being impatient with the starter and not letting the bike go through its ‘procedure’ after switching the ignition on, could have caused it and that three stop start cycles clears it. Certainly the three stops starts happened in my case though of course, I’m never impatient 😀 The new Guzzi…..is lovely….just as quirky as the old one, more poke but it has put on a bit of noticeable (but not detrimental) weight. Good morning. To be honest, being out in the elements is sort of the fun - and for me a bike for distance is one where the riding position, legs and arms are just right. If that’s ok, bring it on! Of course if you’ve got a pillion and do over 500 miles a day, day in day out then an unfaired bike can be a little exhausting, especially in poor weather. Either way though, bikes are just brilliant for the sheer joy of travelling and you can do it on anything pretty much. The Z900rs though was particularly good!
      Anyway thanks for stopping and V7 review coming soon!
      Cheers,

    The question is why you use bungee cords not the rok straps? Talking about the FI light - it can happen when you turn the key on and then start the bike without waiting for the computer to settle. So basically always wait for all the needles and lights to do they blinking stuff first. And if the warning light will kick in you need to turn it off and start the bike 3 times (or alternatively after 3 rides it will go down). Cheers

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  3 года назад

      Good evening, on the bungee's I've got a vast collection stretching back to the mid-80's in all colours and lengths and what tends to happen is that I leave everything to the last minute....Especially luggage...Rok straps are good are they?
      Perhaps I did get impatient with the ignition and start-up procedure and thinking back I probably did inadvertently stop/start 3 times - so all good. I had the feeling at the time it wasn't a 'real' issue and it didn't do it again - but good to know the cause.
      But...It's a properly great bike...Just love it. Thanks for watching, cheers, Phil.

    You have great taste in bikes. I’m thinking about the Z 900 RS. Always wanted a Guzzi . 59 years of riding street motorcycles, dirt bikes, skiing and windsurfing are finally catching up to me. Could be old age? So I need a comfortable bike and a Kawasaki seems perfect. Used to do a lot of long trips but now I do back road day rides here in San Diego. Lotta great roads but not as good as Switzerland. I did three trips to the Alps with John Herman. John used to do two months in the Alps every year for 40 years. Has a book that is really great for traveling in that area. By the way on kidney belts. I’ve been wearing them for 40 years on and off road. I never leave home without one. I’ve done a couple of RUclips videos. Nothing as exciting as yours! I did a friends Ducati multi-Strada v 4. The one on my Honda CB 500 X is doing pretty well. Probably because it gets 70 miles to a US gallon! Thanks for your entertaining videos. Keep riding till you can’t! Ron

      Morning Neil, thanks for stopping by and good to know you enjoyed the review. The little fly screen is made by Powerbronze but there’s plenty of others that do a very similar job if you can’t find that one where you are. Like most flyscreens it offers little or no actual weather protection but it does make it easier to sustain long periods of high speed at the expense of being a little noisier. And of course, it captures quite a few bugs that would either end up on the rider or the bike.
      Hope that helps and hope all is good where you are, cheers, Phil.

    Hi, Phil. I hope that you're well. I'm not sure whether or not I've asked you tis before, but how have you/did you find the 'wind buffeting' on the bike, when you were/are flying down the motorway/highway/autobahn etc..?
    I'm very seriously tempted to pull the trigger on a brand new Z900RS 50th anniversary Edition and, because I'm 6ft 4, and because I want to travel around Europe on my new machine (which will involve a lot of fast 'highway' miles), this is a serious consideration.
    In general, how are you finding your Z900? Is it still keeping you happy? Any little niggles that have revealed themselves since you made your last video?
    Anyway, many thanks for your time, Phil.
    Take care of yourself.
    Neil.

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  2 года назад

      Hey Neil, all good here thanks, hope the same is with you. As for the Z900RS and wind buffeting - well, bearing in mind I’m 5’10 and have a little screen fitted, I had zero problems or aches and pains at prolonged speed. You do have to keep it at a ‘sensible’ speed which I found to be around 85mph (where allowed) with the odd burst for overtaking / fun. At that speed it’s smooth constant wind pressure and with the high handlebars you’re braced well and the screen just knocks the edge of the head pressure. So all good for me but of course I can’t say what it’s like for someone well over 6ft. In all other respects it’s a cracking bike for doing the miles on, smooth, not tiring to ride, always fun, decent tank range and you can get 50mph out of it at the aforementioned speed.
      As for niggles…None whatsoever. I dragged it out last week, went for a cracking ride and it’s still everything I want and need. The sound, the ride and the looks all continue to make me super happy! The only thing I’m thinking of doing is fitting a centre stand for chain maintenance but aside from that it’s spot on. And as for the Michelin Road 5 tyres….They are brilliant!
      Hope that helps, let me know what you decide!
      Cheers,
      Phil.

      @@80eightReviews Thanks, Phil. Much appreciated, and I'll let keep you posted re. my decision. By the way, I've noticed that you use a drone in parts of your videos (well, I'm assuming you do unless you've found a way to levitate yourself !). Which drone do you use, and any good books that you would recommend if I fancy creating a few 'travel videos' myself? Neil.

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  2 года назад

      Hey Neil, unfortunately, despite much zen training I've not been able to levitate as yet so I'm using a DJI Mini - it's version 1, so only 2.7K but it's small and light enough to take with me on the bike and get some nice wow/establishing shots. The quality of the footage is a bit 'phone-like' so I tend to use it sparingly but it's a great little drone and easy to fly. The version 2 is 4K. As for books...Not really! I just watch a lot of movies and other videos and sorta know what I like and what to try and either replicate or do better!
      From a personal perspective I'm trying to avoid the 30 minutes of GoPro stuck on a helmet videos - mainly because I just sorta want to do something different and the filming/editing is as much as hobby as the bikes - not just a by-product.
      Hope that helps, cheers, Phil.

      @80eightReviews  3 года назад

      Hey Tom, how are you doing? Thanks for stopping by and great to know you enjoyed the video. I’m a bit vague of the route as I don’t use sat nav and tend to take many a diversion on the way as long as I’m headed in vaguely the right direction. Basically, though Calais to Troyes on the A26 as I needed to make time, then over to Annecy, followed by lots of odd little (but brilliant) roads between Annecy and Chambery. From there to Chamonix and cross the Swiss border @ Vallocine. Then Aigle to Spiez which I’d avoid - it’s beautiful but traffic is awful, then over to Interlaken and Grindelwald.
      As for places to stay, well, I’ve got a million places marked on my map. I like small towns as I like to explore a few bars and restaurants but not to be stuck in a city…so in Switzerland, Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald are spot on and close to the passes, Meiringen is nice. I liked Annecy but won’t be staying again - it’s lovely but the traffic is awful!
      Hope that helps a bit, cheers, Phil.

      Hey Jonathan, beer and biscuits..It's gotta be done. As for hi-vis...I did't even know that was a thing to be honest - I knew about the vest you're supposed to carry, but didn't do that either. So er, no - no problems but then I didn't see any police either and the border crossings were mostly deserted as in times gone by. Got lucky?
      Yes, I've heard about those shorts...might give it a go even though I have a fear of spandex which reaches back to the late 80's and folk exercising on the telly. I'll confront my demons...

      Evening Hugh, they were absolutely cracking! I'm looking for a UK importer now. Unfortunately I didn't manage a Carrefour on the way back but I did pick up some Reims biscuits - which er, didn't quite do it for me - especially when dunked in fizz. It was like eating a pumice stone.Yak. Next year though, Carrefour is my first stop.
      As you say, if in doubt, pull the plug - look meaningfully at the ceiling and switch it back on again. Always works!
      Thanks for watching (again) - more biscuits and beer soon.
      Cheers,
      Phil.

    I have seen comments and reviews elsewhere saying the throttle is very sensitive. Did you experience this?

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  2 года назад

      Hey John, hello again! I made mention of this in the first impressions video but in summary, for me, while yes the throttle is a little snatchy in lower gears (2-3) at low speeds, it's not big deal as I acclimatised to it and now just ride round it. The engine will pull 5th gear at 30mph, so I tend just to use a higher gear than normal when around town and when I'm on the open road I'm either accelerating or dropping the throttle and I just don't notice it.
      I will always be ready with the clutch also to smooth out the power delivery if I need to - which maybe a function of riding off-road and having two-strokes in the past. Either way, I think an experienced rider will ride round it and it won't be a thing - but then I really don't know if earlier bikes were worse than the 2021. All I can say is that on the Europe trip, it was never a problem - on hairpins, in cities or on the highway. Plus the engine runs really cool which is sooooooo good!
      Hope that helps, cheers, Phil.

      Good evening, great to know you appreciate the footage and good to know you enjoyed the video. The Z900 is a brilliant, brilliant bike and one that sort of passed me by but now, here in the depths of a UK winter I absolutely can’t wait to get out on some dry sunny roads. It’s a fun, addictive and very accommodating bike - just love it. Hope all is well where you are, happy Xmas and roll on Spring, cheers, Phil.

    Dear Phil, I hope that you're keeping well. and in good health. With regards to the Z900 rs, a few commentators have said that they've found the throttle to be a bit 'snatchy', and the fuel delivery a bit on and off - a problem which, in their opinion, could be solved with an ECU remap. Have you found this to be the case in your experience with the bike? What do you think? Regards, Neil :)

    • @80eightReviews
      @80eightReviews  2 года назад +2

      Evening Neil, hope you’re doing well and all good here thanks! On the Z900 throttle, personally speaking I find it perfectly fine and to be honest don’t see the need to change anything - noting I have never ridden a re-flashed bike so I can’t make any comparisons. I’ve no doubt at all, that the re-flash improves things, but as I don’t find the throttle on the stock bike in any way a problem, it’s not something I’m looking to change.
      For me, it feels like your typical, over-lean euro 5 throttle - it is a tiny bit jerky but once you’re used to it, you adjust and ride round it and now I never find it to be a problem and don’t even notice it. Around town, open roads, I’ve no complaints. So I don’t know if the later bikes improved the situation (mine is a 2021) compared to earlier bikes? Either way, as I say I have no doubt it can be improved, but personally, I’m not seeing any reason to. I grew up with some foul bikes with much worse fuelling (and handling) so perhaps I’m easily pleased!
      Hope that helps, cheers, Phil.

      Hello! I had around two hours of very heavy rain while on the bike and a day of heavy rain in Switzerland when I went walking.
