I have my late father in laws vise its a Record No.22. He used to run his own business and this particular vise saw a lot of use its very battered and nothing moves anymore. I have stripped it and now rebuilding it, I am also an engineer! That Blue paint is just what Im looking for theres only a tiny bit left on my vise! GREAT video thanks.

      Hi Scopex
The paint I used was wrong it should be mat finish, but it looks nice.

Loved watching this just bought a No6 for £10 and I want to restore it but not with that paint as it’s way too expensive

@alanjones9381 >>>> Well you snooze.... you lose What's best doing the job once ? or twice at more than you'd first spend using the right colour + finish (if your that picky) Hammerite doesn't do it... it's very noticeable.
I looked around for Ral BS3816 - 110 roundel blue Yes their resellers of the product hence the rip off prices... but I found made to order (smith & allan - Darlington) Tractol 329 BS110 synthetic Enamel paint 1ltr for @23.99 not 29.99 with p+p or more. From ebay..... open your eyes & you'll find those fair priced items. 😆
You spent 10 notes on it so why penny pinch on restoring it correct 🤔...Do it right the FIRST TIME. Paint strip it... wire wheel/brush.. prep any deep rust areas... acid etch prime (grey)... key: lite wet sand 2500 W+D paper.. wipe with thinners then apply neat from tin... leave 24 hrs... key: vry lite wet sand 2500 WD again then second coat thinned or neat. BTW works great.. two coats & your done. Petrol resistant lacquer for the spotless bright work. Making all my record items as new ready for years of use. You'll find going cheap never works....... *But some people never learn this lesson!* 🤭

Loved the video! What size paint tin did you buy to cover the vice?

Hi Toby half a litre is more than enough to do a lager vice like this.
