    Here are a couple very fun facts:
    1. Candi Milo, who was born in Palm Springs, actually grew up in San Jose, which is near where I live.
    2. When I was at ToonCon in Pasadena back in October 2022, she was in San Jose that same weekend promoting her book.

    It's amazing how this voice actor sounded exactly like the original Dexter's voice. Extremely talented and professional I might add but the way she talks about Christine Cavanaugh seems a little rough, harsh and I wonder if Christine left everything behind because she was feeling sick and not for being a wacko, which she eventually died.

      From what I read she developed a type of blood cancer, which led to her retiring from voice acting early, but her actual cause death of death was never disclosed. Very sad.

      It didn't. That Gosalyn Mallard-like tone was completely absent, but it was still believable.

    I never knew Genney loved Christine so much that he couldn't let go of her...

      I never knew this either but I read a quote from Genndy in an article that touched on whether or not we'd ever see a future revival with him potentially as the showrunner since he left to focus on "Samurai Jack" in the early 2000s which was technically the reboot instead due to it originally ending after "Ego Trip", and what he said makes perfect sense in the context of being unable to let go of his original voice actress back then. "Besides his desire to avoid the oversaturated market of returning classic cartoons, Tartakovsky also expressed that he didn't want to bring the show back without the voice of Christine Cavanaugh. The actor famously provided the vocals for the titular character before retiring from the business in 2001 and passing in 2014. "She was such the soul of Dexter I don't feel comfortable trying to replace her in any way," Tartakovsky said. "
      The source of the quote is an article from Comic Books Resource which you can find just by googling key words like ="Dexter's Laboratory" and revival and it should come up, the article is dated April 25, 2023. Honestly I probably would've been first to watch a revival if it did happen because of the nostalgia I have for this show and it would've been nice to see Genndy in charge of it again since he wasn't in the early 2000s but I also understand his reasoning. He loved Christine so much that he couldn't let her go from the show back when she had retired and now doesn't feel comfortable with the idea of replacing her. If a revival did happen, presumably it would probably be Candi Milo voicing Dexter again anyway since she was the last known voice but regardless of my curiosity about any new storylines Genndy and hired writers would've come up with if reviving the show was something he felt comfortable doing I definitely feel like it's smarter not to revive it because it wouldn't be the same without Christine.

    I dunno. I've seen many Tartakovsky interviews and he has a totally normal American accent. 🤷‍♂️

    I had no idea Genndy was that involved in the Chris Savino/Candi Milo seasons, he left the show to work on Samurai Jack at the time

    • @PaperbackWriter92
      @PaperbackWriter92 2 месяца назад +1

      He was no longer the showrunner which is a big job. I would imagine that Genndy must've been somewhat involved in the later seasons in a smaller capacity but he wasn't writing, storyboarding or doing more time consuming jobs since he also had "Samurai Jack" to work on. Maybe Tartakovsky was still a producer and had to approve things like the new casting for Dexter. That's the only way I can see the story about being unable to let go of Christine making sense in terms of Genndy's departure from the show in a full time position and how he tried to encourage Candi Milo to imitate the original voice according to her recounting of that time on this person's podcast.

    Although I'm still in love with the Christine Cavanaugh version of Dexter. But Candi was also funny. If the show's art work and stories had remained just as good as before, the later episodes would still have been great to watch. But both kept deteriorating at a rapid pace.

    Well as far as The sequel of Babe is concerned, Christine refused to do the sequel due to a pay dispute, as she wanted a bigger paycheck as compared to the first movie. As for her reasons for quitting showbiz in general, there was word (I'm not sure if this is true), that she had reportedly become slightly ill. She went back to Utah, where she passed on 13 years after leaving showbiz altogether. However, the weird thing about her death is that it was reported one week after she died, which for someone with that level of recognition, was a little strange. Anyway, she was a gem!
