I only really realised what a lot of storage space you'd gained once you put the shelves and goods into the basement rather than back into the upper room. Really enjoying the daily videos - thank you 👍🏻

Neither one of you have anything to be embarrassed of. You are both amazing to accomplish what you have so far. LOVE it that you showed us the shelves in your room. Not sure how you are going to do the floor above. I am confused why the stairs are placed first thing. I want see through floors hahahahha

If you want the mice family to move, place Ivi’s litterbox in there, they usually evict the premises when they sense cat of fox pee. Ivi herself deserves a nap instead of hunting or at least she seems to think so😊

Looks great. You are set for winter, for sure. Suggestion. Here in Canada, either at dollars stores, Ikeas, and the like, you can buy inexpensive shelves with folding legs that double your usable shelf space by using the area above low jars, creating an “upper level” for more short items. Man-that was tough to describe! Lol. Love your basement storage space!

Well done! As you purchase more plastic storage bins, consider storage bins with a foam gasket on the inside lip of the lid. They should also have handles that clip over the lid to secure it in place. They do a great job of keeping moisture, air, and everything else (mousies) out.

All of the homes I have lived in need sump pump systems to keep the basement’s dry. Until y dig a proper sump pit preferably on the outside wall you will never get the place dry. You don’t need to dig the entire floor up and replace it. Also as a permanent solution do not empty the pump into your septic system, during rainy season you are likely to overload the system and that’s a real mess. Discharge the water away from the house like into your pond.

Later you need to control the humidity after the floor is set because cold and high humidity about water let get the food bad. Or you bulid an air flow system which gets 5...10m3 per hour in and out to get rid of the humidity.

    Hi, A couple of things,
    1) It seems strange to me that you would have so many cans or bottles of one food item, but I guess that with the potential to be snow bound, you need them.
    2) Maybe you can create some shelves about half the height of the others so you can double stack your pickles, jams or red capped bottles.
    Good luck

The basement turned out very well. I suggest that the well cover be a grate made of a material that is not affected by humidity. Furthermore, that wood that you used is green, which is a risk of proliferation of organisms and spores that can definitely be dangerous in the presence of food like the ones you have stored there. You should avoid doing more "temporary jobs" as they only add more and more medium and long-term items to your always long list of pending matters.

Still lots of room down there. You could hang onions and garlic over that beam too. I always nailed 2” pieces of wood along the ends and fronts of my storage shelves to prevent things from slipping off shelves if they get bumped. Looking great and freeing up your 11:02 other storage room.

Hii, Cement for your cave is a really bad idea because all the humidity and water instead in your cave will go into your walls and bricks, they are very sensitives and it is not breathable, bricks turn into dust, normally lime and sand would be great and balance your humidity, I understand that you wanted to block the water and collect it at the lowest part of your cave I hope I am wrong because you know better than me your house and I can not see all the setup. To block water the best if I am right was to install a drain outside the wall of your house with rocks. But good videos !! Take care.
