- Synthesizers & Bach is nothing new, but I've been working on some of the music from Book 1 of the Well-Tempered Clavier for fun and I thought I'd share with you my interpretation of Prelude and Fugue No. 3 in C sharp Major, played on a Prophet 10 (rev 4) synthesizer. I hope you enjoy.

The internet and the world need a catalog of 2-part inventions, 3 part inventions, Preludes and fugues. I would commission.
Words cannot describe how good this is...I mean, it is obvious that you can make any synth sound good, but this combination of your incredible talent, the music of Bach and the Prophet 10 is just out of this world. After a few seconds listening you just forget that you are listening to a synthesizer...you are listening to a real instrument...it is the best description I can come up with. But once again, your talent is breathtaking! Many thanks...I can sleep well now!

I played a prophet 5 when I was like 7 years old at music store and ever since have been absolutely in love with the design philosophy of david smith, and sequential. you do it a whole heap of justice here, the brassy but warm tones you can suss out of this thing are a perfect match for the piece.
Wendy Carlos' synthesized from Bach and Moog a phenomenon whos wave shape we're still riding today, and you and your prophet perhaps had no choice but to keep on keepin on.

I love this so much. Shows that practice and dedication to the craft is key and that these synths sounds deserved to be played in this classic style at this high level. Wendy would be proud as well as J.S. Nice one Julian!

Beautiful, theres something about baroque being played on an analog synth that just sounds so inviting. I love it.
Analog poly synths excel at Baroque, and have their uses for ambient pads , other than that I prefer analog mono synths for nearly every else.
Organ is bassicaly a synthesizer
Love it! Super clean playing, and I like the timbres you chose for each section. With polyphonic music like this it might even be cool to play each hand on a different synth to give each voice it’s own character.
Good idea but it would be hard for the fugue for example as it as 3 voices and the middle voice often wanders between both hands

finally, a real keyboard player! hard to play Bach on such light action, tremendous performance and sounds! I just bought a P10, feeling better about it now that I saw this. Zawinul never stopped using his T8, it was integral to his post 1980 sound for brass and strings

This is amazing! Great playing. I love the dynamics and accents you play with key velocities. It’s really musical and three dimensional - something the original Bach synth recordings couldn’t match. My favorite classical synth recording for sure!
