We don't need anything new in TS4. TS4 is a decade old. I'm excited to get a new game by a new creator who knows how far The Sims has moved away from what Will Wright originally created. Let's go! Can't wait to get this game in September. Come September I'll be searching TS4 less and less and Life by You more and more.
I personally don't want the UI to be any smaller, that would make it hard to see on smaller screens and hard to see for vision impaired people. I think maybe a key toggle to hide the UI for those who don't like a large UI could be a good compromise without making it hard on the rest of us. Also, I think they're showing plenty considering only the early access is coming out in a few months and they've been very good about posting updates every couple of weeks or so and have been rather transparent about a lot of it as well as addressing our questions and concerns. And I mean at the very least, they're telling us WAYYYY more than the sims does.
Sims has a UI scaling slider and it works great even considering it was added quite late post launch, LbY could do something similar. Also it's possible the earliest videos had deliberately oversized UI to make it easier for people to see in the promotional videos, these ones are being recorded "in process" of playing/ production so it's likely the final or close to the final scale. A scaling slider would still be top, tho.
TS3 was released in 2009 and TS4 in 2012. They are really outdated. Modern game development and computers can run things way better now as long as they are optimized well. I think us simmers compare Paralives & Life By You too much to the Sims, which by now is kinda outdated. More current games really do jam-pack their games (in a good way) way more than we're used to in TS4. With that said, I'm really excited to check out this game!!
Good point. And with EA giving us a glimpse into project Rene/ Sims 5 it shows all the possibilities they are capable of doing with a more up to date system.

I was surprised to hear "Paradox Tectonic Team" and I was like "It couldn't be, right?" did a research and saw Life by You is being developed by Paradox lmao now I'm actually hype to see this game. but imo the graphics and the feel/atmosphere needs more adjusting...

@@Sim-dil-e-icious they have betrayed their entire customer base for years, money grubby, greedy asshole with horrible business practices completely taking advantage of their customer base, they only got away with for so fucking long was until finally other game developers decided to step up and bring competition… If Life By You is a smashing hit, giving players what they always wanted from the sims 4, the sims 2 nolstalgia for old school simmers, yeaaaah EA is dead in the water… the same company that killed their monopoly on Sim City, is the same company making life by you, and they got one of the head guy from sims 2-3… what do you think is going to happen? People are just going to continue to support a company that creates a bare bones base game and then breaks up every standard DLC into a million different DLC’s… I’m sorry but no Fucking video game should cost over 1000$ after all the DLC AND still feel empty 😂😂😂😂

The quality is def improving between vids! I wonder how old these videos are? In the first one, the guy was announced as “new to the team “ but then we found out he’s been there 4 years. Could these vids be potentially a year or so old? I feel like even the graphics of the people are improving vid by vid.
I would love to see a cart that the Sims would push around to shop with at the store an put the items in then checkout to show that they are done with their shopping that would make it so realistic and cool. I’m so excited for this game and am excited to see more about it in the future. It’s a tough decision for me but I’m leaning towards this game because it is closer to release and is showing more progress than life by you just the graphics are not as cool, As life by you.
The gameplay looks great, but personaly im not a big fan of the graphics. But i am aware that its still in early development so i hope that they polish the graphics.
On the topic of TS3 performance issues, wasn't there someone who reduced the number of trees and changed a couple of things under the hood (to simplify what they did lol) and then it ran A LOT smoother?
I don't know if it's just me, but the lighting in Life by You is really really bad? It's super glaring and makes everything look kind of shiny? I really hate it.
I like everything except for how the characters look... which is a potential dealbreaker for me. They also walk kinda funny, like why do they all seem to walk as if they have back pain? lol But overall I'm looking forward to seeing more. If they change how the characters look I will be 100% onboard :P
It all looks so ugly though imo... Like it could have been released over 10 years ago. And I really do NOT want this level of customisation personally. I like a normal life simulator where I actually get to play the GAME and not some half game-design half life sim kind of game where you get stuck in endless customising...
FINALLY. Finally The SIms and EA have competition in the simulation game space in terms of this game and Paralives. Now I don't really want them to compete, if anything it is actually other choices for Sim players who want a break from EA's game and want something different especially with the art style paralives provides. :D Looking forward to this and Paralives OMG so stoked!
Not sure why but to me, Life By You feels like a spiritual successor to Sims 3 with it's focus on customization and Paralives feels like an indie take on what Sims 4 could have been, adopting a slightly cosier, cartoon-ey art style.
i'm just scared about optimization issues. it's made by Paradox, and their games run pretty smooth, but with how interactive and visual, i hope it runs well.
I'm not sure how I like the color changing is just a color over lay because it makes some not so nice colors in the combination and you loss details from the pattern
Just because he was hired 4 years ago doesn't mean that's when they began working on this game. It could have already been started or started after he joined. One does not necessarily begat the other. I watched the grocery video and asked about 20 questions including some you are asking. I asked about "checking out" as they didn't show actual buying of the groceries. I also asked if they appear in your fridge when you get home automatically or if you must "unload" the to the fridge. Also, are these the only groceries you have to cook with. Example, if you bought spaghetti but forgot sauce , would your human feel regret or stupid, etc. Can we order via cell phone or computer. Can the groceries be delivered. And a few other questions.
I would also like to know if U upload the save with Customized colours U have created will others be able to download it to their game with those custom colours? I would say the answer is Yes, as we are given so much in the customization of this game, I can not wait to explore these many features, thank you for your continuing thoughts & sharing of this new game, from aussiekarima ♥
I’m far too excited for this! This is the exact kind of gameplay I was hoping for and ultimately disappointed with from sims 4. I’d rather have less to do but have those things be more in depth than have a lot of stuff to do but with very little variability. Even just the small details in this look amazing and well thought out like not knowing other humans names right off the bat and taking food samples. Also my jaw hit the floor at the pickpocketing!! I miss having burglars and alarms in sims. Im trying not to get my hopes TOO high for LBY so I won’t be disappointed but that’s getting harder and harder with every new look at this game!

Listen. It's a general for games not to go all out and become copy pastas of other games. Shooter based games are now copy pastas of other shooter based games now -- they lost their fun. Are you sure that we need to go in that direction with SIMS 4?
Life By You and Paralives are life simulation games. The only game that has ever truly existed in the social life simulation category is The Sims series. Neither Life By You or Paralives is a copy of The Sims series. The Sims unlike said shooters has been the only game that has existed for 23 years. Are you honestly suggesting that only one game should exist in a genre?

I think it’s really good they have been working on the game for 4 years. It should be a very good game. They have taken time and care with the game.
It’s a neat concept but the graphics there look very dated.

This is awesomeness! I'm so excited to hit the supermarkets in this game. Things that Sims 4 is missing just keep escalating!

Pretty funny how Paradox were the publishers of Colossal Order’s release that ended EA’s dominance in the city builder genre too
