You can do it in game yourself, going into stranger territory to court their adult pup. I do wish we could attack though, because the stranger wolves can attack you too for trying to court their pup
I think you might be able to scare them away, a yearling came to court my son but then she just started eating my pups food, and this was in Growing Pups so I NEEDED that food. :/ I growled and snarled at her until she ran away and then I broke her leg, but I didn't kill her
I kept the same den for three games in a row so I almost did the same thing once lol, just automatically started running that way despite my den being in the opposite direction this time

it's one of the reasons I actually bother sending in bug reports, I absolutely know a person is going to look at it and at worst I'm not reporting a bug but making someone laugh, at best I'm actually helping the devs make the game better
The thing is you CAN have big packs. If you have 2 litters of 7 and keep them all alive, boom. Now you've got 16 wolves in your pack providing none of them disperse. My pack is 12 right now.

Sometimes when you’re not able to progress to the next quest, it’s because steam wants to update the game. So now before I report a bug I save, close the game, and check steam for an update.
The last one sent me 😂😂. Your pups not coming out the den because that’s NOT your den lol. The actual den being that far away is crazy 💀. Also didn’t they notice no adults wolves were there, not even their mate? 😭
It was like 4 am and I only got like 3 hours of sleep the night before 😭 That's the den I normally use on all my saves, I guess I forgot I decided to try something different

Yeah, my two yearlings were stealing the kill from the more cautious pups. Perhaps having an emote to tell the other pack members that the pups need to practise would help. Of course they wouldn’t completely back off but maybe give the younger pups a chance to get a couple bites in or wait until the player wolf gets a bite in
Omg this! Lol The last more cautious runt amongst a family of bold only hot training when we were in war with a rival pack over a hex and we had equal numbers.

Grown elks are gone nearly instantly especially as I grab a chunk back to feed the pup sitter/sitters. I- I fully understood.... the thoughts to shoo off my adult children to go and feed themselves or make their own families! Lol Get out of the territory and make something of yourselves! When I'm having to push and shove to greet my own spoiled pups from the swarm of affection I'm both laughing and sighing. Lol

I'm on generation 3 in my pack and I have more than 10 wolves including my wolf and his mate. My game map is littered with carcass X markings lol. My pack can even hunt down fully grown moose now and I'm wondering if I can get away with taking on a bison.....I'm on easy difficulty tho
Really unfortunate my laptop broke before the saga finally came out in Beta but perhaps it was a good thing to make me wait until some bugs were fixed first lol. We love WolfQuest and the work that all these people do for this game so much.
Quite a few people playing WolfQuest these days are a new generation of children, I was part of a previous generation of children who played WolfQuest 2 and 2.5 when it first came out and let me tell you none of us were properly reading things too.
I read over the saga section multiple times, there were still a handful of things that weren't explained but they were super minor and it's easily understandable (like the mates sleeping).
These "bugs" made me giggle, especially the last one going to the wrong den. Thanks for sharing! I thankfully haven't come across any bugs yet but I make sure to read the About the Saga section every time I play. THANK YOU WOLFQUEST!
I don't want bigger packs. Mainly because that's going to be a lot of mouths to feed. As an accurate player, I'd prefer more realistic smaller packs so that it's easier to manage
During the Young Hunters Quest at some point I had 11 wolves, 7 adults and 4 pups. It was really chaotic, a lot of mouths to feed and my laptop was SO laggy 🙈
I have 4 adult wolves(my wolf, the mate, 2 subordinates) 5 yearlings and 4 pups right now and I roll an RNG for difficulty and rolled Accurate for my 3rd litter and I’ve almost gotten in a hunger spiral twice and my wolf almost died in a wolf attack at the den and another time during a hex invasion. Like I’m not joking, I was down below 10hp. I’ve somehow managed to keep everyone that made it to yearling age alive so far but it’s gotten dicey several times.
I have 1 subordinate, 3 yearlings and 3 pups. I love the large packs because it means you stand a better chance against the other packs. Adds just a touch of the chaos I oh so crave😌
Is anyone else so surprised by how many patch updates there have been? It's amazing to see all these bugs fixed and improvements made in such short time! It makes me feel so sappy about how far WolfQuest has come, and how much the devs care about this project 😭
This is pretty amazing! I remember when I was in 'survive with family' quest and err, all my pups died before winter and I had to well, get a mate! So I did, but I didn't complete the trial quickly enough, so I got the 'its breeding season!' prompt and accepted that mate. Surprisingly, I didn't have a litter of pups the next year- despite the female wolf still having time to get pregnant. This did not happen when playing as a female and accepting the prompt, but did have it- twice over, when being a male wolf. This frustrated me, especially since there was no information for why this would happen, so I reported it as a bug- and guess what? The very next day, wolfquest actually fixed that bug! You guys are so amazing and talented, squashing bugs like no tomorrow to ensure the saga is released in the best shape!
Oh! 4:51 was from me! My little oopsie "bug" report that I immediately recognized my misunderstanding of right after sending it in 😅 Funny to see it listed here now, haha. But I also just wanted to say that it's awesome to see glimpses of the extensive behind the scenes work that goes into the making of this game. I have been around the WolfQuest world since it's very early days and it's unbelievable to see how far this beloved game has come. Playing the saga feels incredibly special after so many years of watching the game grow and become something this amazing. A huge thank you to Dave and the rest of the WQ team for all the hard work and dedication! The payoff from the saga is immeasurable, a dream come true for so many of us back in our childhood days ❤️
Honestly it's a real problem that loot doesn't show on the map, it makes it so frustrating whenever I misplace my wolf's Diamond Plate Armor and +3 Cresent Moon Battle Axe.

You guys have done amazing on the beta. The only issue I've found would be when I lend down the pack, the screen blacked out and couldn't get to it. Luckily everything was fine.
im just here to tell you guys that i voted wolfquest in the steam awards for the labor of love category, this game has meant a lot to me for the past decade and i'm so glad you're still doing your best to provide us players with updates and bug fixes as frequently as you are :))
7:01 and your reaction gave me a solid giggle, lol. (Including the den one afterwards. A parent of four is hard work, of course it makes for a tried brain that doesn't always immediately click into place!) Thankfully I haven't really run into any problems to report, just some frame rate drops from my pack growing larger, which I'm more than sure is just from my PC getting up there in years and not necessarily on the game itself. I love how much you guys take care to disecting these. I really hope one of my reports went in. I was unsure if it was an actual bug or a feature, but when I reported it I had no option to send a screenshot so I hope I was descriptive enough. (Pretty much, an entire rival pack territory was completely faded incredibly quickly for some reason. About 20 minutes later, another pack did the exact same thing. I reported it bc I worried about it being used as an exploit to quickly make your territory huge.
I don’t have a bug but I do wanna thank you for this, thank you for letting me wipe out packs in the saga, so far I’ve hunted down 6 pack leaders from 4 different packs and 3 of those have disbanded and dispersed and I’ve tracked down and mauled around 12 subordinates young hunters and yearlings, so thank you for adding that feature in the saga
oh my gosh, did anyone else read the bug fixes and see all the times they had to fix the wolf image in badge, only for it to then disappear entirely? XD goodness, that was hilarious! it's like it was saying 'you don't want me to be big? fine, don't see me at all!' XD lol

My game's been so glitchy since I updated it :( It's nothing a bug I can report, but my frame rate will just plumbit randomly. But love the game, so hyped the saga is out!!!! Loved watching the development!
I've noticed sometimes I also get extreme frame rate drops occasionally, it usually happens when there is rain or snow, especially deep snow. And sometimes it's just ridiculously laggy for no reason, usually quitting the game and reopening it fixes it for me
thats not a glitch, its due to game optimization which is probably poor since its a public beta. I'm sure it'll be more optimised once the saga is officially released
I started a new game a few days ago. Just made it to the growing pups quest, and I have to say I'm really loving it so far! Even just seeing my pups in the new growth stages has added new interest to the game. I'm so happy to be playing again. You devs have done an awesome job!
I LOVE WOLFQUEST SO MUCHH When I was 8 years old I had an extreme obsession with wolves ai found this game, fell in love and immediately downloaded it. I grew more starched over the next few years and after a little while of peer pressure and society telling me I shouldn’t play games like this I stopped for a long while sadly. Recently I’ve become obsessed again, I still haven’t told anyone that I play it but it can be my little secret, I love you guys so much!! I’m so excited for the saga to come out OMGGG IT LOOKS SO GOOD!
As someone who also does QA for a small indi game, I giggled at the bug reports because we get father similar public reports. I also cringe in sympathy over those hard to nail down or impossible to replicate bugs. It is hard work.
I absolutely have ADORED Saga since it came out! Been trying to find bugs myself to be further help, but other than one I had already sent and had a fun conversation over Email to preserve the player logs, the game has run great for me! I also loved the touch that if you succeed the pack with a yearling that they can get their own perks when turning two, but that it's all physical stats. Those were really nice to have. Keep up the great work WolfQuest devs! This game is everything I could have ever wanted.
Oh my goodness some of those bug reports… man what to even say to ‘Bugs will be fixed’… does that person think bug reports are to cast spells with?? XD honestly great job on the saga I’m loving it so much. It’s awesome to see you guys take this much time on bug reports, when I stumble into a bug I’ll make sure to use the proper format to make your lives easier haha but so far so good. I’m rly enjoying the increased pace of the first segment when the pups are youngest so it doesn’t get dull/you feel the progress and I’m enjoying the varied predator attacks (like it doesn’t feel so random anymore, maybe I’m imagining it but coyotes come when they’re young, only had one cougar so far and no eagles so can’t tell but bears during ‘growing pups’ and wolves during young hunters. Also rly glad fights count towards xp cause that way you get something for coming within an inch of your life at least lol
The last one makes me wish we kinda had the ability to add further comments on bug reports, if only to say something like "oops sorry nevermind I was dumb" 😭
I really can't belive how long wolf quest 3 anniversary edition has been out I remember when the trailer just came out! Crazy!! I can’t wait for the game to come out on mobile so that I can play it one day
I reported a stranger wolf raid during Young Hunters twice and now, seeing how many reports there are, I'm slightly ashamed 😅 but everyone can make a mistake I guess. After two or so years of pup quests, "scary music and red icon = den attack" was ingrained into my brain, so I genuinely didn't know how to react to it without a den or site (now I am curious if anyone else thought the same at first)
Thank you so much! I just bought the game and I am in love with it!:D The only thing I really would wish for is aging pups for the multiplayer. We spend over 10 hours taking care of our pups before realizing that they will never grow up. Take care and stay healthy!
Are you guys planning on changing how male dispersals court your female offspring? Because wolves are territorial, wouldn't it be pretty unrealisitc for strange wolves to show up at your doorstep to court? Perhaps if dispersals are in the area your female offspring could choose to sneak off to court. I can't find much information on the topic, but some of the documentaries I've seen females might breed with male dispersals but the dispersals are always chased off on sight. I also learned if a daughter becomes pregnant they aren't evicted as some animals do, and wolves won't kill those pups. Would be an interesting mechanic if fully fleshed out.
4:04 I do believe they were referring to killing OakBelly (The Rival), and not the pup! I've gotten a similar bug before where I couldn't bite a dispersal coming to my pack
Ive submitted some silly bug reports, so seeing others accidentally do the same makes me feel better lmao. I submitted a report that my mate had the paws icon in pack info but on the map it still showed her at the den. Submitted the report, turned around, and saw my mate right next to me! XD

That's a lot of bug reports. Thank you for all of your hard work. Also THANK YOU for adding the auto-run toggle! That's been my bane in fights when trying to maneuver and Seneca just decides to run off into the sunset instead of choming on the wolf trying to chomp on Fishstick. Bug that I need to investigate and report: Feral Dog IK weird when biting wolves (most visible when player wolf). Some feral dog breeds (usually the smaller ones) will not appear to actually contact the wolf when they are biting them. The Rottewiler in particular will perform acrobatics and stick his forepaw up in the air while biting a wolf. Easiest way to reproduce: Start a file as a lone wolf in LR:AE, find a pack of dogs, and antagonize them into attacking you (if they don't just flee).
In light of the new feature where wolves are able to eat regurgitant, i feel like food aggression would be an interesting addition, being able to wrinkle your nose or growl at another wolf who's trying to snatch up puppy food as it can become kind of annoying when they start plowing through the ungulates you reserved for the babies...

6:41 Hey, that's me! (Did a serious double-take there, haha.) The reason I got confused with this is because if you go under pack information, the mate doesn't appear to have a wakefulness percentage like the player wolf and pups do. This whole time, I was under the assumption that the mate wouldn't ever get tired, and even if my wakefulness was at 0% I never really noticed any differences in mate behavior.. I suppose I was inattentive! I was unaware that your mate and you share the same wakefulness, if I'm understanding this correctly.
Yeah, it seems to be a new feature that they added with the Saga. All of the pack will be exhausted when you are. It's pretty nice because before they never seemed to run out of energy or stamina.
I found it a funny coincidence that as I was watching this video, I was playing wolf quest and came across a bug where no matter how many times I loaded up a save nothing else but my wolf would be in slow motion, I fixed it by restarting my computer but yah fun coincidence

Seriously though, this is a great devlog; I love getting a little peek behind the curtain into one small part of the bug squashing ordeal. I imagine it must get quite frustrating when so many players send in unhelpful reports and feedback, knowing well that you can't really blame them since they don't understand the process or what you're looking for, not to mention a lot of them probably being kids. At least some of them can be quite funny 😅 that person who kept squeaking at the wrong den... I'm surprised I haven't done that myself actually, lol
I'm pretty sure by "loot", they were probably thinking of the many antlers, skulls and human objects you come across. I've found many of them and wanted to bring them home, but it was inconvenient at the time and I didn't want to waste time setting up a custom marker when I was rushing to protect my borders.. I also hope that packmates could be tweaked a bit to be a little more aggressive when it comes to fighting stranger wolves and helping you gang up on them like they do to your packmates and yourself. Countless times I've lost packmates because they're all scattered and scrambling about while getting ganged up on by 2 or even 4 wolves at a time while i struggle to kill just one by myself to get them to back off and save my scatterbrained pack members!! It feels like I'm all alone in those skirmishes and is pretty demoralizing.. No matter how much I woof at the pups to back off, they always get run down by a group of attackers and mauled to death before I can get in and save them.. On a side note, I too love how much work you guys are putting into getting us the full released Saga ASAP! This is a prime example of what all game devs SHOULD be like! Also.. BEEEEAAAVEEERRRRRR!!
You guys recommended not to do Accurate Ironwolf on the first go, but I jumped into doing it anyway. And it is fun! Harsh, but fun. And the stakes feel very real as the years go, my Leader wolf has been just single percentages away from death a few times now, and he’s had two litters so far. I hope he gets to live a life where I see the death splash screen at 8+ years old, but I can’t guarantee he will.
I might have missed it but I never saw an option in the help logs for when a wolf comes to court your pups and I think it might be useful to have a small section explaining that it just happens naturally and that you don't really need to do anything to encourage it or tell your other pups to back off. I had to find this our after asking around with other players :'D
It would be really cool to have some QOL things like -Sending packmates out to hunt using some sort of 'woof' -Sending packmates out to patrol hexes, raise the % in them by howling or marking -Drag dead elk/deer/prongs if you have enough wolves with you to pull the weight so you don't have to travel back and forth to bring back chunks all the time -Have the option to limit pack size, Realistic/Large/Unlimited to control how many adult wolves there are around the camp, size issue for hunting or running around can be solved by having a ;wait; command for the wolves or creating hunting parties -Choose what pups to have leave or disperse with a popup similar to what happens now, but you get to choose what pups These might not all be realistic, but I hate seeing my pups leave, after raising them I get so attached to certain ones and I want to keep them around.
One thing i'd like to have added, isssss : Usually when a dispersal wolf disperses, they either find another pack or make a pack of their own. Wouldn't it be intresting if dispersals would be able to join OUR pack? Imagineeee ,it would also help the players whom want more members in their pack.
That's unfortunately not realistic, as skypaver989 said random wolves don't just join formed packs (unless becoming mates with an "alpha" who previously lost their mate, but that's a different topic), wolf packs are families made up of the breeding pair and their offspring.

I can only assume it was their first litter and/or their mate/packmates were all hunting with them...

Yeah, my two yearlings were stealing the kill from the more cautious pups. Perhaps having an emote to tell the other pack members that the pups need to practise would help. Of course they wouldn’t completely back off but maybe give the younger pups a chance to get a couple bites in or wait until the player wolf gets a bite in

The last more cautious runt amongst a family of bold only hot training when we were in war with a rival pack over a hex and we had equal numbers.
As cool as it would be a 20 member wolf pack would most likely starve to death.
My 8 member wolf pack nearly finishes a full cow elk carcass within 24 hours, I can't imagine how much hunting would be required for a 20 member pack

Grown elks are gone nearly instantly especially as I grab a chunk back to feed the pup sitter/sitters.

When I'm having to push and shove to greet my own spoiled pups from the swarm of affection I'm both laughing and sighing. Lol

I'm on generation 3 in my pack and I have more than 10 wolves including my wolf and his mate. My game map is littered with carcass X markings lol. My pack can even hunt down fully grown moose now and I'm wondering if I can get away with taking on a bison.....I'm on easy difficulty tho
My pack has 18 rn, 14 adults and 4 pups 😅
Really unfortunate my laptop broke before the saga finally came out in Beta but perhaps it was a good thing to make me wait until some bugs were fixed first lol.

Quite a few people playing WolfQuest these days are a new generation of children, I was part of a previous generation of children who played WolfQuest 2 and 2.5 when it first came out and let me tell you none of us were properly reading things too.
I read over the saga section multiple times, there were still a handful of things that weren't explained but they were super minor and it's easily understandable (like the mates sleeping).
These "bugs" made me giggle, especially the last one going to the wrong den. Thanks for sharing! I thankfully haven't come across any bugs yet but I make sure to read the About the Saga section every time I play. THANK YOU WOLFQUEST!

I don't want bigger packs. Mainly because that's going to be a lot of mouths to feed. As an accurate player, I'd prefer more realistic smaller packs so that it's easier to manage

During the Young Hunters Quest at some point I had 11 wolves, 7 adults and 4 pups. It was really chaotic, a lot of mouths to feed and my laptop was SO laggy 🙈

I have 4 adult wolves(my wolf, the mate, 2 subordinates) 5 yearlings and 4 pups right now and I roll an RNG for difficulty and rolled Accurate for my 3rd litter and I’ve almost gotten in a hunger spiral twice and my wolf almost died in a wolf attack at the den and another time during a hex invasion. Like I’m not joking, I was down below 10hp.
I’ve somehow managed to keep everyone that made it to yearling age alive so far but it’s gotten dicey several times.
I have 1 subordinate, 3 yearlings and 3 pups. I love the large packs because it means you stand a better chance against the other packs. Adds just a touch of the chaos I oh so crave😌
Is anyone else so surprised by how many patch updates there have been? It's amazing to see all these bugs fixed and improvements made in such short time! It makes me feel so sappy about how far WolfQuest has come, and how much the devs care about this project 😭
This is pretty amazing! I remember when I was in 'survive with family' quest and err, all my pups died before winter and I had to well, get a mate! So I did, but I didn't complete the trial quickly enough, so I got the 'its breeding season!' prompt and accepted that mate. Surprisingly, I didn't have a litter of pups the next year- despite the female wolf still having time to get pregnant. This did not happen when playing as a female and accepting the prompt, but did have it- twice over, when being a male wolf. This frustrated me, especially since there was no information for why this would happen, so I reported it as a bug- and guess what? The very next day, wolfquest actually fixed that bug! You guys are so amazing and talented, squashing bugs like no tomorrow to ensure the saga is released in the best shape!
Oh! 4:51 was from me! My little oopsie "bug" report that I immediately recognized my misunderstanding of right after sending it in 😅 Funny to see it listed here now, haha.
But I also just wanted to say that it's awesome to see glimpses of the extensive behind the scenes work that goes into the making of this game. I have been around the WolfQuest world since it's very early days and it's unbelievable to see how far this beloved game has come. Playing the saga feels incredibly special after so many years of watching the game grow and become something this amazing.
A huge thank you to Dave and the rest of the WQ team for all the hard work and dedication! The payoff from the saga is immeasurable, a dream come true for so many of us back in our childhood days ❤️

Honestly it's a real problem that loot doesn't show on the map, it makes it so frustrating whenever I misplace my wolf's Diamond Plate Armor and +3 Cresent Moon Battle Axe.

You guys have done amazing on the beta. The only issue I've found would be when I lend down the pack, the screen blacked out and couldn't get to it. Luckily everything was fine.
I've gone to the wrong den too, recently after moving! I'd completely forgotten, lol
im just here to tell you guys that i voted wolfquest in the steam awards for the labor of love category, this game has meant a lot to me for the past decade and i'm so glad you're still doing your best to provide us players with updates and bug fixes as frequently as you are :))
7:01 and your reaction gave me a solid giggle, lol. (Including the den one afterwards. A parent of four is hard work, of course it makes for a tried brain that doesn't always immediately click into place!) Thankfully I haven't really run into any problems to report, just some frame rate drops from my pack growing larger, which I'm more than sure is just from my PC getting up there in years and not necessarily on the game itself.

I really hope one of my reports went in. I was unsure if it was an actual bug or a feature, but when I reported it I had no option to send a screenshot so I hope I was descriptive enough. (Pretty much, an entire rival pack territory was completely faded incredibly quickly for some reason. About 20 minutes later, another pack did the exact same thing. I reported it bc I worried about it being used as an exploit to quickly make your territory huge.
I don’t have a bug but I do wanna thank you for this, thank you for letting me wipe out packs in the saga, so far I’ve hunted down 6 pack leaders from 4 different packs and 3 of those have disbanded and dispersed and I’ve tracked down and mauled around 12 subordinates young hunters and yearlings, so thank you for adding that feature in the saga

oh my gosh, did anyone else read the bug fixes and see all the times they had to fix the wolf image in badge, only for it to then disappear entirely? XD goodness, that was hilarious! it's like it was saying 'you don't want me to be big? fine, don't see me at all!' XD lol
Love seeing what goes on behind the scenes like this. And I actually didn't realize you guys could load saves from the report- will have to be more mindful of that next time I submit bug reports and feedback.

My game's been so glitchy since I updated it :( It's nothing a bug I can report, but my frame rate will just plumbit randomly. But love the game, so hyped the saga is out!!!! Loved watching the development!
I've noticed sometimes I also get extreme frame rate drops occasionally, it usually happens when there is rain or snow, especially deep snow. And sometimes it's just ridiculously laggy for no reason, usually quitting the game and reopening it fixes it for me
thats not a glitch, its due to game optimization which is probably poor since its a public beta. I'm sure it'll be more optimised once the saga is officially released
I started a new game a few days ago. Just made it to the growing pups quest, and I have to say I'm really loving it so far! Even just seeing my pups in the new growth stages has added new interest to the game. I'm so happy to be playing again. You devs have done an awesome job!

When I was 8 years old I had an extreme obsession with wolves ai found this game, fell in love and immediately downloaded it. I grew more starched over the next few years and after a little while of peer pressure and society telling me I shouldn’t play games like this I stopped for a long while sadly. Recently I’ve become obsessed again, I still haven’t told anyone that I play it but it can be my little secret, I love you guys so much!! I’m so excited for the saga to come out OMGGG IT LOOKS SO GOOD!

As someone who also does QA for a small indi game, I giggled at the bug reports because we get father similar public reports. I also cringe in sympathy over those hard to nail down or impossible to replicate bugs. It is hard work.
I absolutely have ADORED Saga since it came out! Been trying to find bugs myself to be further help, but other than one I had already sent and had a fun conversation over Email to preserve the player logs, the game has run great for me! I also loved the touch that if you succeed the pack with a yearling that they can get their own perks when turning two, but that it's all physical stats. Those were really nice to have. Keep up the great work WolfQuest devs! This game is everything I could have ever wanted.

Oh my goodness some of those bug reports… man what to even say to ‘Bugs will be fixed’… does that person think bug reports are to cast spells with?? XD honestly great job on the saga I’m loving it so much. It’s awesome to see you guys take this much time on bug reports, when I stumble into a bug I’ll make sure to use the proper format to make your lives easier haha but so far so good. I’m rly enjoying the increased pace of the first segment when the pups are youngest so it doesn’t get dull/you feel the progress and I’m enjoying the varied predator attacks (like it doesn’t feel so random anymore, maybe I’m imagining it but coyotes come when they’re young, only had one cougar so far and no eagles so can’t tell but bears during ‘growing pups’ and wolves during young hunters. Also rly glad fights count towards xp cause that way you get something for coming within an inch of your life at least lol

I reported a stranger wolf raid during Young Hunters twice and now, seeing how many reports there are, I'm slightly ashamed 😅
but everyone can make a mistake I guess. After two or so years of pup quests, "scary music and red icon = den attack" was ingrained into my brain, so I genuinely didn't know how to react to it without a den or site
(now I am curious if anyone else thought the same at first)

Thank you so much! I just bought the game and I am in love with it!:D The only thing I really would wish for is aging pups for the multiplayer. We spend over 10 hours taking care of our pups before realizing that they will never grow up. Take care and stay healthy!

Are you guys planning on changing how male dispersals court your female offspring? Because wolves are territorial, wouldn't it be pretty unrealisitc for strange wolves to show up at your doorstep to court? Perhaps if dispersals are in the area your female offspring could choose to sneak off to court. I can't find much information on the topic, but some of the documentaries I've seen females might breed with male dispersals but the dispersals are always chased off on sight. I also learned if a daughter becomes pregnant they aren't evicted as some animals do, and wolves won't kill those pups. Would be an interesting mechanic if fully fleshed out.

Ive submitted some silly bug reports, so seeing others accidentally do the same makes me feel better lmao. I submitted a report that my mate had the paws icon in pack info but on the map it still showed her at the den. Submitted the report, turned around, and saw my mate right next to me! XD

Also THANK YOU for adding the auto-run toggle! That's been my bane in fights when trying to maneuver and Seneca just decides to run off into the sunset instead of choming on the wolf trying to chomp on Fishstick.
Bug that I need to investigate and report:
Feral Dog IK weird when biting wolves (most visible when player wolf).
Some feral dog breeds (usually the smaller ones) will not appear to actually contact the wolf when they are biting them.
The Rottewiler in particular will perform acrobatics and stick his forepaw up in the air while biting a wolf.
Easiest way to reproduce: Start a file as a lone wolf in LR:AE, find a pack of dogs, and antagonize them into attacking you (if they don't just flee).
In light of the new feature where wolves are able to eat regurgitant, i feel like food aggression would be an interesting addition, being able to wrinkle your nose or growl at another wolf who's trying to snatch up puppy food as it can become kind of annoying when they start plowing through the ungulates you reserved for the babies...

If I can get into my game I'll do an official report but I just took my pack to a new map and I'm stuck on an endless loading screen
I noticed that my game also took really long to load when travelling to a new map, but luckily it wasn't stuck there forever

6:41 Hey, that's me! (Did a serious double-take there, haha.) The reason I got confused with this is because if you go under pack information, the mate doesn't appear to have a wakefulness percentage like the player wolf and pups do. This whole time, I was under the assumption that the mate wouldn't ever get tired, and even if my wakefulness was at 0% I never really noticed any differences in mate behavior.. I suppose I was inattentive! I was unaware that your mate and you share the same wakefulness, if I'm understanding this correctly.
Yeah, it seems to be a new feature that they added with the Saga. All of the pack will be exhausted when you are. It's pretty nice because before they never seemed to run out of energy or stamina.
I found it a funny coincidence that as I was watching this video, I was playing wolf quest and came across a bug where no matter how many times I loaded up a save nothing else but my wolf would be in slow motion, I fixed it by restarting my computer but yah fun coincidence
Gosh! I cannot wait for the Saga!!!!! I know it’s out on public beta, but I don’t have the steam app and that’s not how I downloaded the game so I gotta wait!!! I hoping it’ll come out in December as a little wolf quest Christmas present 🎁

Seriously though, this is a great devlog; I love getting a little peek behind the curtain into one small part of the bug squashing ordeal. I imagine it must get quite frustrating when so many players send in unhelpful reports and feedback, knowing well that you can't really blame them since they don't understand the process or what you're looking for, not to mention a lot of them probably being kids. At least some of them can be quite funny 😅 that person who kept squeaking at the wrong den... I'm surprised I haven't done that myself actually, lol

I'm pretty sure by "loot", they were probably thinking of the many antlers, skulls and human objects you come across. I've found many of them and wanted to bring them home, but it was inconvenient at the time and I didn't want to waste time setting up a custom marker when I was rushing to protect my borders..
I also hope that packmates could be tweaked a bit to be a little more aggressive when it comes to fighting stranger wolves and helping you gang up on them like they do to your packmates and yourself. Countless times I've lost packmates because they're all scattered and scrambling about while getting ganged up on by 2 or even 4 wolves at a time while i struggle to kill just one by myself to get them to back off and save my scatterbrained pack members!! It feels like I'm all alone in those skirmishes and is pretty demoralizing.. No matter how much I woof at the pups to back off, they always get run down by a group of attackers and mauled to death before I can get in and save them..
On a side note, I too love how much work you guys are putting into getting us the full released Saga ASAP! This is a prime example of what all game devs SHOULD be like!

Maybe you have really cautious pack mates because all of mine are very aggressive to any and every predator. I've got a lot of bold pups.

You guys recommended not to do Accurate Ironwolf on the first go, but I jumped into doing it anyway. And it is fun! Harsh, but fun. And the stakes feel very real as the years go, my Leader wolf has been just single percentages away from death a few times now, and he’s had two litters so far. I hope he gets to live a life where I see the death splash screen at 8+ years old, but I can’t guarantee he will.

I might have missed it but I never saw an option in the help logs for when a wolf comes to court your pups and I think it might be useful to have a small section explaining that it just happens naturally and that you don't really need to do anything to encourage it or tell your other pups to back off.

As long as the packs are equal to your neighboring packs in numbers that’s all I need. Equal opportunity on any pack for equal fights
It would be really cool to have some QOL things like
-Sending packmates out to hunt using some sort of 'woof'
-Sending packmates out to patrol hexes, raise the % in them by howling or marking
-Drag dead elk/deer/prongs if you have enough wolves with you to pull the weight so you don't have to travel back and forth to bring back chunks all the time
-Have the option to limit pack size, Realistic/Large/Unlimited to control how many adult wolves there are around the camp, size issue for hunting or running around can be solved by having a ;wait; command for the wolves or creating hunting parties
-Choose what pups to have leave or disperse with a popup similar to what happens now, but you get to choose what pups
These might not all be realistic, but I hate seeing my pups leave, after raising them I get so attached to certain ones and I want to keep them around.
id love to mention i helped with one of the bugs where you couldn't pick up pups outside of home site :DD

One thing i'd like to have added, isssss : Usually when a dispersal wolf disperses, they either find another pack or make a pack of their own. Wouldn't it be intresting if dispersals would be able to join OUR pack? Imagineeee ,it would also help the players whom want more members in their pack.
they really don't do that a lot in the wild - packs are family units, not groups of unrelated adults
That's unfortunately not realistic, as skypaver989 said random wolves don't just join formed packs (unless becoming mates with an "alpha" who previously lost their mate, but that's a different topic), wolf packs are families made up of the breeding pair and their offspring.
