They are both good. Melody kinda reminds me of a young Christina Aguilera. Nicole is able to add so much distortion to her voice. Melody tries to add some distortion, sometimes she “growls” and it doesn’t sound that nice. Some of Melodys notes are actually pretty good, but all Nicole’s notes are good here. Of course it’s possible to find other clips where Melody will sound better then Nicole, so it’s really a personal preference. I can easy find some clips of Nicole I don’t like. Nicole has a higher range, I don’t know who I think is the. Best. They are both good in their own way. And both deserves to sing lead

I think Melody has a similar belting range to Christina, and can sound a bit like her with some of her vocal run stylings, but their tones are very different. Christina's was richer and deeper even in her younger days, and she had a lot more control of her pitch than Melody does. Also, there aren't as many clips of Melody singing all these notes as there are of Nicole, so it was harder to narrow down my choices for Nicole. For example, if you notice, I didn't showcase as many clips of them in head voice since Melody has only hit most of those notes once or twice. So I simply chose the best available for her.

Both Nicole and Melody were best. They had their unique voices. I love to listen Melody's ad libs but however I prefer Nicole voice as it sound more matured. That's just my opinion.
I think both are great singers! However, I am no expert, but I think Nicole’s voice is more versatile while Melody sounds a little bit like screaming, except the last part of the video, where both impressed me so much! Damn, Melody has a great instrument, but it seems like she has an ear problem and goes off key like every 5 seconds. It's hard to listen to her failing at every single note in her vocal runs. Such a shame because her voice is actually beautiful and girly (it's like Ashanti or Mya were trying to sing Whitney Houston or Christina). Nicole on the other hand is like perfect (although she lowers her larinx a little to create a deeper sound), her phantom of the opera took my wig to Mars
Melody now finally found her right genre and aesthetic, and I'm surprised how much she sounds stable now! All she needed was some time for improvement. And yes she definitely was not for pop songs and that's fine.

Nicole is the definition of fierce. She looks fierce, her vocals are fierce, the way she commands a stage is fierce, etc. Melody and her shrill little "kitten trying to be a tiger" voice could never. The girl has always been remarkably overrated by the PCD fan base, and I still can't figure out why. I think perhaps it's just because it's in the average person's nature to invariably root for the underdog, regardless of if they're the best or not.

Being a good singer is not about having a better tone, because that is highly subjective. I could prefer Bob Dylan's voice over Dimash, but Dimash would still be an infinitely better singer. So in terms of pure vocal ability: Nicole all the way. Better control over dynamics, better control over texture, can add distortion to her voice wdithout straining, more range, actually more ease in the very high part of her voice, which is especially telling because Melody has naturally higher voice and should have more ease in her high range. Better sense of pitch (shown on many occasions where the dolls did some improvising) Better breath control.

Wait, there are really people that believe this Melody chick is the better singer? She sounds awful. Maybe she'd be okay if she didn't try to go all big and extra with her vocals. Honey, you might think you sound good doing your best Christina impersonation in the shower with those fine acoustics, but that doesn't mean it's okay to bring that mess up on stage when you sound like an ailing cat. 3:25 ... yikes. Such a horrible sound. No wonder Nicole was always so visibly irritated whenever Melody would try to diva it up with her voice in PCD's live performances. People assumed it was out of jealousy, but there isn't a single note Melody can hit that Nicole couldn't do a hundred times better. Nicole just wasn't going to start singing the hell out of a song like "Buttons" by going for random high notes and vocal runs like it's a song that's meant to showcase vocal ability lol.
Melody gets such a bad rap because of a few admittedly awful live moments from 10/15 years ago when she was about 19 years old. Nicole was a professional singer for years before PCD and musical theatre performer since she was young, its so unfair to compare them during PCD. Melody has something special she just wasn't ready to be in the group even by the time of Doll Domination, I think shes only come into her own as a vocalist in the last few years. Listen to her EP Lioness Eyes and you'll see what I mean.
Her fans were talking like she was Whitney Houston even while in PCD, so this video was definitely fair. Some of these clips were actually from after PCD though, when she got her vocal training.

both aren't vocally the same since nicole is a lyric-soprano vocal range with 4 octaves while melody is a soprano/mezza soprano. i dont think melody has been vocally trained like nicole has either.
I made the video since they're constantly compared and subject to relentless debate over which one is the better singer. Melody received classical training back in 2011 to prepare for the show "From Popstar to Operastar" that she appeared in. Many of the clips in this video are from around and after that time. She was classified as a mezzo soprano on the show, and sang all mezzo pieces. She's proof that you can't always accurately classify voices according to how they sound when singing pop music. Her timbre in opera/classical music is vastly different than it is in pop. Her falsetto sounds nothing like her connected head voice. Also, Nicole didn't have any training back when she was with Eden's Crush, and still she was executing sharp, well-controlled vocal runs, belting out Bb5s, and showcasing considerable agility in the whistle register.

No. Nicole had no training prior to Eden's Crush. Her family was very poor and they couldn't afford to get her vocal or dance lessons. She didn't start training until after the group disbanded.

Ah, I thought you meant actual formalized professional vocal training. I mean, anyone that takes chorus in school receives that same basic level of "training" if you want to call it that, but they just kind of skim the surface, it's not very in depth at all. Can't compare it to classical training, that's for sure.

Wait, there are really people that believe this Melody chick is the better singer? She sounds awful. Maybe she'd be okay if she didn't try to go all big and extra with her vocals. Honey, you might think you sound good doing your best Christina impersonation in the shower with those fine acoustics, but that doesn't mean it's okay to bring that mess up on stage when you sound like an ailing cat. 3:25 ... yikes. Such a horrible sound. No wonder Nicole was always so visibly irritated whenever Melody would try to diva it up with her voice in PCD's live performances. People assumed it was out of jealousy, but there isn't a single note Melody can hit that Nicole couldn't do a hundred times better. Nicole just wasn't going to start singing the hell out of a song like "Buttons" by going for random high notes and vocal runs like it's a song that's meant to showcase vocal ability lol.

Melody gets such a bad rap because of a few admittedly awful live moments from 10/15 years ago when she was about 19 years old. Nicole was a professional singer for years before PCD and musical theatre performer since she was young, its so unfair to compare them during PCD. Melody has something special she just wasn't ready to be in the group even by the time of Doll Domination, I think shes only come into her own as a vocalist in the last few years. Listen to her EP Lioness Eyes and you'll see what I mean.
Her fans were talking like she was Whitney Houston even while in PCD, so this video was definitely fair. Some of these clips were actually from after PCD though, when she got her vocal training.

both aren't vocally the same since nicole is a lyric-soprano vocal range with 4 octaves while melody is a soprano/mezza soprano. i dont think melody has been vocally trained like nicole has either.
I made the video since they're constantly compared and subject to relentless debate over which one is the better singer. Melody received classical training back in 2011 to prepare for the show "From Popstar to Operastar" that she appeared in. Many of the clips in this video are from around and after that time. She was classified as a mezzo soprano on the show, and sang all mezzo pieces. She's proof that you can't always accurately classify voices according to how they sound when singing pop music. Her timbre in opera/classical music is vastly different than it is in pop. Her falsetto sounds nothing like her connected head voice. Also, Nicole didn't have any training back when she was with Eden's Crush, and still she was executing sharp, well-controlled vocal runs, belting out Bb5s, and showcasing considerable agility in the whistle register.

No. Nicole had no training prior to Eden's Crush. Her family was very poor and they couldn't afford to get her vocal or dance lessons. She didn't start training until after the group disbanded.

Ah, I thought you meant actual formalized professional vocal training. I mean, anyone that takes chorus in school receives that same basic level of "training" if you want to call it that, but they just kind of skim the surface, it's not very in depth at all. Can't compare it to classical training, that's for sure.

Nicole is way better. Her technique is on point. Melody seems as if she needs some training on how to mix her head voice with her belts. She gets too excited and loses herself in the singing we know why. But she needs training. And she also needs to stop trying to sound like xtina. It's not helping her voice.
