Harding was decades ahead of his time regarding civil rights for African Americans. He tried to get an anti lynching law passed ( which was blocked by congress) and he gave a speech on race in Alabama in 1921 in which he stated that he looked forward to the day when Whites and Blacks could live together as equals. Harding was a good man.

That speech was racist and very understated

@@TerrellThomas1971 The Blacks in the audience cheered while the Whites stood there in stunned silence. Harding was one of the earliest advocates of civil.rights for African Americans.

He also established the veteran's hospital in Nashville that became the heart of Meharry Medical School, the first such school for African-Americans in the South.

A well intentioned man who was out of his depth and a poor judge of character when it came to at least some of his appointments. Not the dreadful president often portrayed, but admittedly not a very good one either. Happily, his Vice President was an excellent man.

My impression was always that he would have preferred to stay in Ohio to play cards and party, but Mrs. Harding had other plans for him. He had that famous quote about how it wasn't his enemies who were keeping him up at night, it was his g*d*d friends: The ones who took advantage of him. I've been to the final resting place of Jake Hamon -- the architect of Teapot Dome who didn't live to see it happen -- as well as that of Thomas Walsh, who did the prosecuting when the scandal broke, and it was strange when we talked about this in high school, with a school named for Edwin Denby nearby. As to Coolidge, he was the one who told the White House staff that he wanted things to go back to how they were, and they clearly understood what he meant..

Easily one of our greatest presidents. Got us out of the great depression of the early 1920s, never mentioned by leftist historians, with massive tax cuts and spending cuts, leading to prosperity. Tragically lost a son while in the WH which took the heart out of him and led him to decide on not seeking reelection. Undoubtedly he would have overcome the great 1929 depression with the same tactics and saved the US from the abomination of FDR, one of the most disastrous presidencies in history which leftists call one of the best. Dragged on the depression for ten years longer than it should have been with disastrous government give aways and exponential government growth from which we've never recovered. @@RevLeigh55

@@RevLeigh55I would call Coolidge outstanding. One of our best ever. Fixed the great depression of 1920 with massive tax cuts and spending cuts.
The tragic death of his son caused him to not seek reelection. He would have quickly fixed the depression of 1929 with the same methods. Instead we got the 12 year FDR disaster which dragged on the depression for at least ten years longer than it should have been. We've never recovered from the massive increase in the size and scope of government. Leftists never give Coolidge the credit he deserves for obvious reasons. And they praise FDR instead of giving him the scorn he deserves. A total communist.

The term Ptomaine Poisoning is food poisoning caused by any of various amines formed by putrefactive bacteria. The word ptomaine comes from the Greek ptōma meaning fall, fallen body, corpse. Ptomaine poisoning nowadays is much more commonly known by the generic term of food poisoning.
