100%.....not only that before that fence he made the decision to bring the horse wide as he knew he horse would stay rather than fight up the inside rail......i really think jump jocks are told to be safe and "pop" the last fence and it makes sense for horse/jockey safety, but damm AP made the horse jump the fence at the current pace of travel....check the Giant Bolster for ref
The best ever jump jockey his like will never be seen again. A genius in the saddle he could win on horses no other jockey could it’s a shame it had to end but we all have lots of fond memories a true great of our sport.
I won so much money betting in play on racing when McCoy was at the back of the pack and the odds went crazy because his chances looked zero to none . The only jockey that could do it how he did . Not only do I miss the nostalgia of the race days with my generations champion jockeys … my bank misses it to 😂 . When I watch these videos it reminds me of easier times
It's a great shame that Gloria Victis couldn't be a part of this montage. He was jumping like a stag in the 2000 Gold Cup, but always to the right. It eventually caught up with him at the 2nd last when he suffered a fatal fall. He would have gone on to be the main challenger to Best Mate in the three years he won it (02 03 04).
