Thanks for my new motto... "It doesn't have to be perfect- it's a garden." Beautiful!
I built one today for planting of pole green beans. Thank you for sharing this idea!
"Done is better than perfect." I appreciate this so much as I try new things in my garden. Thanks!
ichoosehope excellent. if i wanted it all perfect, i'd never get anything done! eric.
Haha - same here!
i know Im kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good site to stream new tv shows online ?
@Leandro Aydin lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Jeffrey Aryan yea, been watching on FlixZone for months myself :D
This looks pretty easy and I loved how she asked questions as you built! And I'm a dog lover. Such precious pups :-) I may try this over the winter.
+CaeLee Overturf yes, this is an easy to make trellis that breaks down easily at the end of the gardening season thx! eric.
Your dogs are such a joy to watch!
"Done, is better than perfect." LOVE IT!
Works for me!
Love your video, you and your wife demonstrated easy understand info. Thanks so much
Thanks for this, my poor husband has no idea that he's now going to have to build a couple of these for me ;)
Love your videos!
I wish you guys were my neighbors. Labs a bonus.
Love the labs .. especially the black one.. thank you
Our trellises are full of peas now. Thx for watching! Eric.
Two vines sharing the same trellis. Dog in bath water and drinks it too. Wow! Double-double treat :))
Great idea, easy and inexpensive to build! That's my kind of project. Thanks Eric, just what I was looking for!
Good to hear Anne!
Seems simple enough.
Thank you for sharing.
Be well and be safe.
Peace
Thank you for your useful video! I love it! Blessings to your home!
Pretty nice trellis you built there. I built one this year for my tomato but It Is more 3 dimensional. I just used some thick string for tying up your boat and wrapped and weaved It between wooden sticks to support the tomatoes all around them. You built a nice trellis though, good for beans and peas like you said.
Love it! Thanks for the insight!
Glad to see you know your place! Dogs rule. You're very much like we are. You manage to fit in a little work in between dog time! Now imagine those dogs as Leonbergers, all over 150 lbs. We spend a LOT of time playing.
Good to hear Robert, have fun! :) Eric.
Hey Eric,
YAY! I showed him the video and come to find out we have the exact staple gun that you used. He is on board! Good thing because the green beans and peas go in the ground today! Have a great day!
This project is very easy to follow. It is more practical and a lot of savings for a limited budget for my gardening. Thank you.
Maria Morales great to hear Maria, thanks for watching! eric.
Very pleasant video and your dogs are champions. Thank you.
hi debbie, this trellis plan is pretty simple, so i think he'll do just fine. a staple gun is handy with this, thx! eric.
Those dogs are wonderful. I bet they make great company.
I enjoyed this video! Very informative and entertaining. Thanks from S. Korea! :)
Great video....I made the same trellis here in Ohio,I also have a raised beds, with limited space, but I tried the string, but I found out that the cucumbers were getting to heavy, soo I used a stainless steel wire instead...and used the sting to tie the vines loosely to the wire....Love your dog's...
+stuart sullenbarger good to hear, those must be big cucumbers! eric.
Done is better than perfect -- that is so true, especially for garden where you can still have a chance to re-adjust later or re-do later with more experience and skill, or even better tools.
An example is the nails versus screw. If you don't have a drill or impact drill, you can screw in manually. Or you can use a hammer and nails. Still gets the job done aand should still be sturdy for quite a bit.
Yep, it all works, thx!
I just found you guys and have watched three of your videos. I love you guys. Good info for me being a beginner and you all are so funny. And I love the dogs!
yeah! good to hear, thx!
Best line evah..."done is better than perfect". ;)
+jewels454 yes, its just a trellis, not rocket science!
Great tips for building a trellis!
Great vid, I will be making this for my indoor garden!!
OMG LOVE THE DOGS PANTING ALL THROUGH THE VID. Just an awesome demo too thanks!!!! You guys seem awesome and love the dogs. Just subscribed. Can't wait to grow some beans!!!!!
+Julie Dull its getting cold here in New England, but yes, i already want to grow beans., eric.
Loving you pups. Thanks for you idea.
"I'm not gonna throw it to you if you're not gonna give it to me". I had to laugh when I heard you say that to your dog! I have a yellow lab and I find my self saying that EXACT SAME sentence every time I'm playing fetch with her. "Do you wanna play catch or not?! Drop the ball! Alright, fine, you wanna go home?" Then I show her the leash and she'll drop the ball. Hilarious. Great video.
yes, its a common phrase at our house!
Thanks so much for info I'm going to build one this season.
@xuhaus we don't have rabbits, because the coyotes keep the population down. the hawk is beautiful to watch, beautiful bird. thanks for watching!
That is excellent idea!! Thank you for sharing!
Doris Knight thanks for watching! eric.
Great vid guys. Love the dogs
thanks! i just put up the sugar snap pea trellis this weekend! eric.
@1ChevyGuy375 yes, this is good for beans, etc. you need stronger stuff for tomatoes. i made a video about our tomato cages as well. it on our youtube channel. thx, eric.
Nice and simple. I like it!
Thanks for this!!!
I love your videos! I need a saw like that!! yes!
Good idea and good job. Thanks for the magnet.
thanks for your support! we will be making new trellis videos soon. eric.
Thank you....I can do this now
Great Idea, I am going to a raised garden next year and am going to have cucumbers but didn't know how I was going to keep them in check but now I do thx to you. My question is what is the purpose of the hooped staples?
+ALLxoxoxoxo the hoop staples, which are used for stapling cable tv wire, etc., make it easier to tie off the two ends of the jute twine at the ends of the trellis. and it happened to be what I had in the staple gun. thx! eric.
@DBIGMAN812MANY thx, i use the strong twine and have not had it break on my yet. eric.
Hi Eric - Enjoyed the video but I have a question ? But I'd like you to get your wife to read it to you like when she throws in her comments during filming, We love that !! So the question is:
It looks like if the string breaks, will the whole thing unravel on you?
I need to make one, for my pumpkins
Good to hear!
Beautiful dogs love them haha
yeah! we have string beans on our homemade garden trellis now. thx!
@jwlrymkr we live in NW CT, and it has been a rainy year so far. sorry bout the drought down there. eric
loved it....great dogs
I see others that have horizontal sticks from the woods. It is slanted and are only a few feet high what is grown on that
Loved the video and the dogs........I just want to love those dogs up! ;O)
Nice easy prodject
Your Labrador dog looks like our Lab here name Bella 🤗
Great, clear instructions. Love your wife's input she always intuitively asks what I am thinking. I have a vintage Stanley staple gun, would any staple gun shoot those loop staples you used for the string or is it a special stapler. Great idea.
BarbaraL Lowell hi Barbara, the staple gun i used is for loop staples, but regular square staples work just fine too. the older Stanleys wont work with the loop staples, some new models can use both square and loop staples for the trellis build. thx! eric.
Thank you for your expertise, very helpful and informative. Just wondering if an automatic tennis ball launcher might work :) G-d bless and thank you for taking the time to share.
Thanks, you are really helpful. :)
I like the way you did double planting the peas and beans. I want to do that. So, how many days or weeks apart did you plant the 2 . TY!
+Doris Rives beans dont' like the cold, so it depends on your climate. i planted the peas when the ground was still cold, the beans go in after the soil warms up. thx! eric.
i have fallen in love with your videos. where do yall live? it looks beautiful
gentlemortal we shoot the videos in Northwest Connecticut. thx! eric.
Be sure to buy pole beans (Not Bush Beans) that will grown tall enough to climb the trellis.
Thanks for another idea for a trellis that looks affordable. What size are the nail that you are using?
JAWSMom824 sorry i don't recall, but i imagine they are 1-14" screws and then 2" nails to drive them in to the raised bed. eric.
Ok cool.....thx Eric.
@russtex thanks russ!
I only watch for the Labradorables!
thanks Carolyn, the dogs have their own video channel, 100% dog videos here: ruclips.net/user/gardenforklabs thx!
Carolyn Brack-Jackson , ikr? Lol
@vudumojo hey thanks for watching, more cool stuff on our site too! eric
@jwlrymkr I know what you mean! I live in Texas also.
Cool idea! Love the dogs, they make me laugh. :-)
Deborah Nickerson we are making a new garden trellis this year for our sugar snap peas. thanks for watching, eric.
Can you use bamboo for the job?
Sure! If it is sturdy enough why not? Eric.
brilliant! can you show me one with T posts?
sorry Lisa I don't have those. thx! Eric.
thanks, your dogs don't dig your garden? great video.
+tam Le we are lucky that the pups don't dig up the garden, the raised beds really help with that. thx!
Love the dogs. Dont care about the trellis .
too bad you can't harvest tennis balls. lol. love the labs!
i buy them in bulk on ebay! thx!
I like the garden info & stuff & I also love dogs, but when im trying to learn something about one thing & I have to sit & watch dogs play with a ball... sorta sucks. Like you said, the dogs have their own channel.. obviously you can't please everyone so whatever.
Otherwise I do like everything else, even how wife ask's some questions that others may ask. Might subscribe, Just need to watch em when i have more free time to waist. ;-)
It looks like u have sum kind of 1 inch plumbing n ur gardens was that to distrabute water evenly if so good idea . I'm stealing it!!! Ha ha :)
👍👍👍👍🙏
I'm glad you love your dogs. But ...
+smart451cab but thanks for watching and the note!
Hahaha......no..not big...small pickeling cucumbers....I had tons last year...must be my secret watering juice....compost tea and rain water....
