Magnifique dancer Patrick.
Patrick forever
I LOVE this clip, and I love gorgeous Patrick Dupond. He is wonderful in this film - the seeming ease and facility he shows in performing the excerpt from Polovtsian Dances shows his breathtaking but understated technique. He was a truly great classical dancer, gifted also with contemporary edge and versatility. I adore his Spectre with Lillian Gish; he dances so beautifully and is gallant and charming to her during the curtain calls. I fell in love with him when he kissed her hand!

Wow! Amazing and soulful!
How wonderful Patrick Dupond is in this little movie.
Merveilleux, merveilleux Patrick 🌹😘🌹🌹
Comment ne pas être hypersensible à cette beauté magistrale ?
Patrick l'enchanteur !
Dupond. One of the greatest.
Kyra has nothing to worry about because she passed away in 1998. I also see her as a noble figure. I think she wanted the film to be an homage to her father and instead they made it a comedy about herself. I don't think the filmmakers had any intention of making a serious documentary and naturally this upset her. I would have liked more info and pictures of Kyra when she was in her prime -- she deserved more respect even if she was eccentric, religious and overweight later in life.
Oui, Patrick merveilleux, Patrick extraordinaire! mille bravos, Patrick !!!!!!
... Mais la grâce éthérée ... unique !!!... que je viens de découvrir dans les instants sublimes qu' on nous offre de Nijinski, est pour moi un bonheur inconnu inimaginable.......
( --- Je regrette de ne rien comprendre à l' anglais... Dommage! )
Yes she was in dire need of money. She needed her watch repaired and had no money. She offered one of her paintings as payment and my husband agreed. She was eccentric and very fascinating when I met her in the late sixties. She did her painting in the little kitchen in her apartment in Noe Valley in San Francisco.
oh patrick....
r.i.p.
Thank you so much for your comments! Patrick Dupond is one of the greatest dancers of his time. I'm happy to share these clips -- I only wish I had a better print than this old vhs tape. I hope more dvd's of Dupond's work will be made available -- there are so precious few at this time.
There is one video Y T Lander Etude with P Dupond C Healy K Pêche ; j saw him Don-Quichotte ( 1977 ) Etude Lander ( 1980 ) : the best " le Corsaire " P Dupond
I found Kyra to be likably unpretentious -- I wish she had had more screen time and shared more stories about her life. If I can locate more of my Dupond videos in my large video collection, I'll see what I can do about posting more of his dance footage.
Kyra Nijinsky nothing but adorable such mooving document
I have just uploaded Patrick Dupond performing "Le Spectre de la Rose" with Lillian Gish and "Tricorne" -- please check them out! Incidentally, parts of "She Dances Alone" were filmed in my own neighborhood of Bernal Heights in San Francisco. Have not seen "Giselle" anywhere -- would also love to have it. Patrick Dupond deserves to be much more famous than he is. I wish he had played Rudolph Valentino, who was half French. Dupond has the requisite style, good looks, appeal and grace.
I only just now found your posts or I would have replied sooner to tell you how much I appreciate your comments. You have stated exactly how I feel about the film, Kyra and Patrick Dupond -- only more eloquently than I ever could! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on these wonderful artists.
sweet ángel of dreams ...how can he touch the ground? ...he belongs to heaven.
Patrick Dupond doesn't dance, he flies...
I agree! He is amazing and makes it look so easy - the hardest thing of all to do and one of the most important factors in performance.
He is also very beautiful and naturally, genuinely charming. I have his autobiography, ETOILE, in French (I have no idea if it was translated into English). I dearly hope he is happy and fulfilled by whatever he is doing now.
I appear to be on Dupond's trail!
Thanks for posting these videos. Just fab!

I'm sorry but I don't feel comfortable uploading the entire film because parts of it seemed unflattering to Kyra Nijinsky. She openly disapproved of how the film was being made, and I can see her point -- so I just uploaded the best parts. I hope you understand.
I used to have this film on tape, and I agree, the film-maker is very unkind to Kyra at times and seems determined to portray her as rather mad and almost a 'figure of fun'. I felt great sympathy for her, and even pity. That the daughter of Vaslav Nijinsky should have been edited in such an unflattering and, at times, cruel way strikes me as disrespectful and unnecessary. Even so she seems lively and wonderfully eccentric. Sadly she was probably in dire need of money at the time.
I' m so very happy to see this again, I know this film by heart, I lost my betamax tape in 1985 and never saw it again until tonight, thank you so much for posting.
did she really not want the film to be viewed, how was she portrayed badly, I would like to see this whole film also. I dont think she has anything to be worried about, she was noble her entire life, regardless of the reflections of one film.
de très beaux dabs
Вони дуже схожі дюпон і нурєєв жва генія які дарують насолоду людям своїми танцями
@Parysia77 Yes, yes, please - if you have something more with Patrick Dupond please share it with us! He is just outstanding male dancer and what is more I think not very much popular. These fragments from "Giselle" and "Spectre de la rose" are fabulous! He really seems to be a little bit like Nijinsky. Well, or could you at least say what do you have with him? I know that there is "Swan lake" available with him and Marie-Claude Pietragalla but what about "Giselle", "Spectre de la rose"?
BREATHTAKING!
One of my life's tragedies is that I have not seen you dance!
(This is true for Dupond and Nijinsky)
If you imagine Dupond with even-more powerful thighs, like Nijinsky, you can see how much Nijinsky could bound in his movements.
I am so sad today, Patrick passed away at young age of 61. RIP
@@GildaTabarez And besides, I have friends in ballet world including one in Paris at Paris Opera and he confirmed so don't listen to fake news
Thank you for the confirmation. So hard to believe he is gone. I am heartbroken.
@@GildaTabarez I know, I cried yesterday a lot, still so young. He was so elegant and expressive.
Does anyone know where the full film is available? I met Kyra Nijinsky by chance in Tommy's Joint in San Francisco in 1981 and would love to see this movie.
Who is the filmmaker? I'm researching Richard Leon Stoots (1947-1993), who made some sublime photographs of Kyra Nijinsky.
@@JulieBlankenship-w6d She Dances Alone (1981) was directed by Robert Dornhelm; screenplay by Paul Davids; additional dramatic elements by Bud Cort; narration written by Jon Bradshaw; director of photography, Karl Kofler; edited by Tina Frese; music by Gustavo Santaolalla; dance consultant, Paul Szilard; produced by Federico de Laurentiis and Earle Mack; distributed by Continental.
I love the photos of Kyra Nijinsky in costume for Le Spectre de la Rose (like her father). Vanity Fair published this one by Cecil Beaton on July 1, 1935:

The most beautiful of men. Dancers are living works of art -- you have to be quick to see them before they are gone. A contemporary artist named Rachel Brice lives in San Francisco. She is a "tribal" belly dancer. See her if you can.
Most beautiful of them was Vaslav Nijinsky. Patrick Dupond looks much like him. In Finland we have humorous song about ugly big men in tricot, which is how some of them look like, for example Baryshnikov :) I really don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by this. Love and kisses..
