- Op Amps! What are these little things? An operational amplifier, or op amp for short, is a tiny electronic component that's like a supercharged mini amplifier. It takes in electrical signals from one or more sources, boosts them up, and then sends them out as bigger signals. It's commonly used in all sorts of electronic devices, like audio equipment, sensors, and even in everyday gadgets like smartphones. Basically, it makes electrical signals stronger and more useful for doing things in circuits.
And this is great for headphones! Usually the output of a digital to analog converter is too weak for headphones to use, so amplification is needed. And in comes the opamp. But not every op amp is the same, especially when you listen to audio.
I have a Conductor 3X GT. I swapped all amps from V6 to V7. It is not a subtle change. It's a giant leap in every aspect of sound quality improvement. I highly recommend the V7 Vivids. I played with adding a couple of V7 Classics. I can see how many would love that warmer mid forward sound. I personally prefer all Vivids.
Makes me wonder how could that change the market of internal sound cards, great video.
Thank you! The more highend soundcard do have a swappable opamp. I just hope more sound cards would have that option. It does add costs and that is why you don't see it that often.
Great background info as always. Anton should make a spreadsheet of all these reviews!
Haha, I thought about that a lot. But the problem is that my test bench has changed several times over the last couple of years. Which means that you can't really compare all cards.
Anton is my favorite PC audio nerd
WOOOOTT! Another Anton video!
Iron Mike is the best!
So how does the V7V compares to the Sparkos SS2590?
Can you do a review of the Sound Blaster AE-7.
Great review Anton, would Burson opamp work with M-Audio AP 192 ? I mean there is one swappable amp place available on the card but I am not sure would it have any effect on the sound that much. Been struggling to make this thing work on AM4 platform since I changed recently, what a bummer. BTW love your reviews take care man.
Hey, check Staccatto discrette opamps. They are opamp killers!
I've just sent them an email requesting a couple of opamps to test.
Both Electronic component quality and controlling software is important. There is only 1 option in the market Creative and others are sh*t. Asus is the most creepist and others are completely trash.
