man I recall 1989 driving one of this cars pearl white , tan interior, v-8 man was the car fast, listening to freestyle music and alternative rock. love the car.
tony t probably a standard firebird, not this one. The anniversary firebird was a V6 turbo, same engine as the Buick Grand National. Brilliant drivetrain though, better than V8s from the era.
No V-8 in this car... Your recollection must have been the standard GTA in the 5.7 Liter/ L98 engine The Turbo Trans Am was the king of the hill in 1989, even faster than the Corvette, but that was never published by GM as to not cause embarrassment to their flagship sports car
BroskyWhoDatedHoski BroskyWhoDatedHoski : 150? Lol, they were CONSERVATIVELY rated at 250 i know you probably did a typo (we all do) but, no way could it do the numbers with only 150. Heck, even the non turbo v6 could do 165hp in the buick lesabres.
You don't realize how rare that car is, the T roof panels are plexiglass not glass, the spark plug wires say 20th anniversary Trans Am on them impossible to find however the hood insulation looks like it's missing and the blue intercooler hoses are not original General Motors. only 500 turbo trans am built with Lexan t tops. ... Rare car
09victoryrc Looks like the flex plate cover is missing as you can see the flex plate & torque converter. Also that turbo has been upgraded. That's not the original one.
9:20 the fly wheel and torque converter are exposed. The lower trans shroud is missing, Maybe they had it off to inspect the converter while filming but damn I hope the car wasn't being driven like that.
ScarabChris. Actually, it's not a 3.8. They called it a 3.8 but Pontiac made a special set heads for it and it actually displaced 4.1 liters. It was more power than the GN's
I was at the indy 500 in 89. This car was awesome as a pace car. It was a REAL sports car and not some beretta bs.
General Zod that’s awesome! you lucky fucker.😂

One of the only 2, or 3 cars from the 80's that were worth a damn. Bone stock they ran 0-60 between 4.5, & 5 seconds. 1/4 around 13.2 @101-3mph

Bought my 1989 formula 350 new in 1989..still have it 97k miles, runs great.but need an interior update and new paint. Drive in the spring to fall.

09victoryrc Also the tires appear to be original which is cool for a collector but are not really safe for regular driving.
It's obvious it's been tampered with wrong turbo wrong fuel pressure regulator or blue intake hoses. ... without even looking hard.
09victoryrc all 1550+ had T Tops
I owned one of these cars back in 94 . If know anyone looking for a set of the original spark plug wires I have a set !
What's the ticking heard at start up?
i'll take a 350 TPI with every bolt on possible, a tricked out trans with shift kit, corvette servo and pump, with 3000 stall... AND,,,, a procharger!
9:20 the fly wheel and torque converter are exposed. The lower trans shroud is missing, Maybe they had it off to inspect the converter while filming but damn I hope the car wasn't being driven like that.
They were the fastest 3rd gen, but I need a v 8 sound coming out of my trans am exhaust
1992 Firehawk was much faster

Beautiful pontiac trasm-am I have chevrolet camaro iroc z 1986
Ew, Iroc z is nasty
Nice car nice carpet but what's under it and the under carriage
I'm looking for an old 80's through 95 muscle cars to do some fun modifications on and I don't what car to buy!!!!
I wish I had the money and the space to collect cars.
Yeah and it's not the 5.7 TPI as noted in the description. It's the 3.8 V6 that the Buick Grand National used.
Exactly right. I knew it was the Buick Grand National engine.
ScarabChris. Actually, it's not a 3.8. They called it a 3.8 but Pontiac made a special set heads for it and it actually displaced 4.1 liters. It was more power than the GN's
Yes, I saw the turbo .....def not the 5.7 .....tbe pace car was the v6 turbo trans am (TTA)
looks like a 3.8 turbo trans am to me, no 350
Captain ThirdGen: yes, it was faster & better!
They never came with a 350....but a 305....a turd engine
Michel Linschoten wrong, many of them had 5.7 liters in them
@@luuuke2484 I have one still...
Mika Tamminen?? A 350 or a 305?
Don't understand.. I loved this car always then the 38 turbo. GTA with a Buick 38 turbo perfection
I like how he didn't wear a seat belt

3.8l Turbo Grand National motor
Quicker than a Countach and a Testarossa of the same time period. Sadly? Yeah, if this is sad, make me miserable
