With the Bow of Nylea giving everything deathtouch while attacking and Ezuri giving trample, remember that just one damage is considered lethal and you can push the rest through to the defender. There was no amount of blocking on that last attack that would have allowed Barry to live.
@@oliverrowland-jones2752 Vincent is actually correct here, you only need to assign lethal damage to any one blocker with trample. Given that deathtouch means that 1 damage is lethal damage, you can assign 1 damage to each blocker and the rest to the player themselves.

As has been pointed out, priest of Titania is all elves on the battlefield not just that you control. Big ol stompy gives x for each creature in play, of which there are 7. 2x ezuri activations prior to the copperhorn trigger followed by 3 more would be 7+6+9 so all elves gets +22 / +22 and trample. Doesn't make a big difference but its just counting. Could have done more remembering the priest too.
Good wholesome combat victory. Reminds me of when I was learning to play with precons. I hate blue stopping people from playing their cards, but this shows why no interaction at all can get out of hand real fast. Needed removal bad
I’m just glad Barry wasn’t public enemy number one like usual. Y’all were treating him like the stinky kid at the table you wanted to get rid of for a while there 🤣. Great content as always
Aaron forgot about his Emerald Medallion :P I think he paid the full CMC for almost all of his green spells (Multani was the only exception). It *might* have changed things near the end 28:02.
I have a T1 Elf modern deck that runs 1 copy of Ezuri. Going to get another and add him as an EDH commander too. I was rooting for Ezuri the moment I saw him on the list.
One of my favorite parts of watching youtube magic content is I get to actually pay close attention to the art on the cards. Like, today, I found out that elder Gargaroth's face is looking over to the left, whereas I always thought he was looking up and to the right
I still got your back. I may have been absent, but IHYD will be updated for sure. It's just been a wild time for me. Thanks for all the new episodes for us to geek out on. This is the best MTG channel. I've watched em all. This is the most legit.
17:48 there was a fun interaction with deathtouch and trample, that also could have been used on the following turn with Bow of Nylea and Craterhoof, but creatures that have both abilites only deal 1 damage to the creature blocking it, and the rest tramples over. So Joseph would've dealt 10 damage, and Lynch would deal more damage than he thought. It didn't matter in the end, but it is a cool interation!
I think lynch had a big chance of actually winning one turn before had he known about the priest tapping for all elves. Fun game! Love the content, keep it up! 🙌❤
Having bough my first deck (Elf Fury) over 15 years ago, I've slowly built up the "Elf" aspect of my monogreen deck. This video was very insightful : Not only did I see many of the cards I already have & use, but I also learned of a few new very interesting green cards. It was also great to get confirmation on the ways the effects are supposed to work (Regeneration, Deathtouch, mana ramp) ; too bad Lynch missed a few of the +1/+1 counters & mana boost (Titania = ALL elves on battlefield) he was allowed : Why not have cardboard +1/+1 counters at hand for this kind of deck ? All in all : Very entertaining ! And a good reminder to rush players who are mana-rampers, and who drew the perfects initial cards
17:30 Lynch wouldve taken more damage since Joes creature has both deathtouch and trample, meaning one damage assigned is considered lethal, the other 5 trample over
22:50 City of Solitude doesn't stop triggered abilities, which means that elder gargaroth can still give Joe 3 life. Although I don't think it would've made any difference
8:53 Slight missplay that can still work from lynch, he taps both elvish arch druid and elvish mystic to gain 5 mana for the overrun ability but still counts elvish mystic as attacking. He still had mana open though at that time
I love these games, they're really impressive. If you're taking suggestions it would be impressive to see a Balan, wandering knight Voltron deck, or a jhoira, weatherlight captain artifact storm deck

Awesome episode again! nice! Aaron bro! you keep on forgetting your discount on green cards :( that should have mattered i guess.. you did find out, but it was too late though
9:14 Lynch was doing 3 more damage (16 instead of 13) because Elvish Archdruid gives other elves +1/+1, so with +3/+3 from Ezuri his creatures were 6/6, 5/5 and 5/5 (he noticed 3 minutes later). When City of Solitude was played, Lynch could have also regenerated one of his elves in response to keep a blocker against Multani.
@@wimfranken826 It's true for creatures with protection as well: damage assignment restrictions ignore any effects that would prevent or modify that damage. (Of course, the damage doesn't happen because of the protection, but only 1 damage needs to be assigned.) "510.1c [...] When checking for assigned lethal damage, take into account damage already marked on the creature and damage from other creatures that’s being assigned during the same combat damage step, but not any abilities or effects that might change the amount of damage that’s actually dealt. Ummm... Doesn't trample and deathtouch mean one point of damage and the rest tramples over regardless of blocks? I feel like lynch blocking with seedborn was counted up wrong
Technically it's just a bad play, not an error. You _can_ assign more damage than needed to a blocker, which is what happened there. (For instance, if you block my 3/3 trample with two 1/1s, I can assign 2 points of damage to either of them and nothing to you.
