  • We have an aim for this year to grow all the vegetables we need to feed our family of 7. One of the key components is using succession planting in a tunnel house so we can grow fresh veggies all winter long.

Love your channels honesty and relatability. I'm a bit surprised, and relieved to see this update as here in the Manawatu in my greenhouse my Pepinos (A type of melon?) are finally doing something, but my tomatoes are not... they all look just like yours do... like you I tried something different, and we have a dwarf banana and two pups going gangster and a tamarillo near the roof.... I hoping it stops or I'll have to remove panels... I didn't think that one through well... keep up the great work.

Am growing 10,000 broccolis this winter 😆😆
My kids said I broke them for supermarket broccoli as it is such an inferior food to freshly picked 😇 🥦
I grew in my tunnelhouse (much smaller than yours) last winter, but only in pots. This year it will likely get moved and I’ll grow in ground. Yum 😋

It's so good when the kids like their veggies! My oldest says shop veggies taste like sadness 😂

I really struggle to grow carrots as they tangle up with each other. Maybe a video tip?.. also how much land you need to feed a family with fruit and veggies and not rely on supermarkets. ?

One question. I have been saving seeds and growing from those when i can. But the problem I'm coming across is that many store-bought seeds now seem to grow infertile plants 😪 Meaning that I grow the plant, which fruits fine, but the saved seeds are useless and won't sprout.
I'm really sad and disappointed with the agricultural industry! Have you found this has happened to you at all? I'm now looking for heirloom seeds instead of just going to the shop to get commercial ones. Thanks again from Tauranga 💚🖤

Yes, I have taken to only buying heirlooms or open pollinated seeds and try to get them from local seed savers rather than from big companies as I find the home saved ones are growing way better

Hi, my 2nd and third year capsicums are long like yours. The first year they grew round . I'm not sure why I've got long this year. I'm still waiting for this year's new plants to show me if they are round or long. It is new round seed this year. All the best😊

Is it possible they might have crossed with banana peppers?
The long ones I'm growing this year are Anaheim and ancho peppers so they are ment to look like that (I hope)

What brand is your tunnelhouse? Would you recommend it?

It's from hunkin, they import them from the UK
I would totally recommend it, but we did need to reinforce the base with boards cos the winds we get here bent the aluminium channel. We got the crop rails and high wind kit options.
