Also. I just wanted to say I really like your content. It’s not easy putting these videos together. You are very good at presenting. It’s very entertaining. Thank you
Thank you for explaining the cue button, I was pressing it over and over wondering why it didn’t cue up like a CDJ, did not make the connection that it was for the headphones lmao
I _think_ you could use a midi controller to control both busses at the same time. Liam Killen has a video on how to set up midi control for the FX, that might have mor einformation, i haven't tried yet. I've been wanting to check out DJ mode for a while, this is going to make me do it!
@@charliewilson7283 but you cannot use it directly connected to the sp, or can you? i think you have to go to a computer and then send the midi from the computer to the sp, or are you able to connect directly the controller to the sp? i know a lot of people use faderfox controllers because they are small but have actual midi out (on din or trs). i'd love to use my nanokontrol mk2 with the sp
Your videos are dope! I’m a long time sp user but I’m always looking for dope SP content on RUclips. You’re one of a kind ‼️💯 Keep going! PS That House track is NASTY!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video! I don't know if you've discovered this yet or not... But.. *PRO TIP*: In DJ Mode, if you press SHIFT it will highlight the two respective CUE buttons on the interface!
Not sure if it’s been pointed out here but someone mentioned to me that the remain + bus fx button will swap the fx between busses. That way if you have the low cut out with the isolator on one track, you can easily flip them.
I believe you can change effect parameters on both buses if you connect an external midi controller with knobs and assign them! Havent tried myself yet but I will this week with a beatstep pro
You can actually also do a bass swap. I set up super filter on high pass on both bus 1&2, but turn it on only for bus 2. Then mix in track 2, and when you're ready to swap the bass I hit filter > bus FX (to swap to the other bus) > filter as quick as I can. Basically you're turning off high pass on Bus 2 and turning it on Bus 1 ASAP. Then you can fade out the first track. This works best if you map super filter to one of the MFX buttons
I bypass bus 1 and isolate bus 2. But when I isolate bus 2 it actually isolates bus 1. Meaning when bus 2 is stopped and I isolate bus 2 to bring it. It actually effects bus 1
i haven't yet purchased my mk 2 but the dj mode now is really tipping the scale. How long is it theoretically possible to make a setlist? is it limited to the pads? or is it throughout the banks if you really wanted to load an SD for a mix or something?
Firstly I really want to hear some mixes of yours. Secondly, Is it possible to sync the tracks and sync them to the bpm of external hardware via a midi clock in?
@@TouchBaseBeats tracks were loaded through the app from pc. Unit just randomly reboot itself middle of playing in dj mode. Unfortunately it happens to a lot of users I know. They are aware of this issue at Roland so let's hope it gets fixed one day.
Thank you for this video! It is really helpful. I would like to find a device just for simple DAWless dj live sets. And I want to understand the main thing. Do you load whole track to one pad? And you use another track for second pad etc? And use this just like a usual dj mixer?
Glad you liked it! Yes you have to pre load the tracks into individual pads, then open up DJ mode and load tracks from the pads. Then it’s just using the busses and whatnot to get it sounding interesting.
Question 🙋♂️ does the sp404mk2 have a glide/pitch glide function between pads? So that when playing a bass let’s say it slides up or down from 1 note/pad/pitch to the other note/pad/pitch? Thanks
That’s only because of the kitty 😉also. Lo fi. Bu shyt on the subject is so confusing hoo the hell would buy this for lo fi unless their wanna be grime artists or the like. I’m using mine for house and I chose this over a second hand technic
Love your style and content. The natural light in your studio is nice. I hope I won't offend you with two tips: The mic is between you and your viewers, try to move it out of the shot. Your coats and bag behind you are really distracting.
Haha as soon as I shot this I noticed the mic was in my face so I hear you on that. I might move some of those bg things tho, overall I’m trying to figure out the set as I go along. Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the vids! A fundamental thing that I think is missing from DJ mode...is the ability, once you are 'in the mix', to see the waveform of the track that you're mixing out of whilst mixing...I know you can use your ears but it's handy to see what's coming up with the rest of the mix... when mixing with records you can see breakdowns coming in the grooves, and on cdjs you can see the breakdowns in the waveforms....unless I'm missing something and it is possible to do this, it feels like I'm mixing 'blind' on the 404. I wanna be able to quickly view the waveform/s, without losing the mix in my headphones....do you know if this is possible on the 404 in dj mode?
Thanks for the reply@@TouchBaseBeats ...yes...but as far as I can work out...when you do this, you lose what you're hearing in the headphones...ideally in a mixing situation this wouldn't happen. Maybe I need to adapt to what is available...but a big element of 'normal' mixing is missing...
haven’t seen a 404 DJ workflow explained as clearly as you did on RUclips thx
Thank you homie!
Thanks for this. Pair it with a midi controller and you can adjust both effects at the same time
Woah that sounds like some next level wizardry! Maybe I’ll have to do some research and give that a try…

Yeah, I came here to say this. I just took a look at the 404 manual and it does look like you could use a MIDI controller to do this.
MIDI controller suggestions?
