The first Sonic movie was all about the nostalgia and a backstory for how Sonic came to be. So audiences weren’t sure what direction it was going. This second movie? Now it knows what it wants to be, so it’s raising the stakes a bit higher!
Yeah. Not to mention the first movie only had Sonic and Eggman as the game characters, and adding more characters could rlly overstimulate the movie. So I appreciate them for waiting till sequels to do that

Colleen is the VA for Tails in these movies AND the canon games, she’s fantastic and gets the nerdy child character down perfectly, I love Idris as Knuckles and Carrey as Robotnik trough all three films, they all do it well, but I do agree that Ben’s Sonic is good but sometimes a little over the top. This is also in movie canon Tails’ first time hanging out with Sonic, so he’s a little bit of a fanboy, in this film anyway, he definitely grows to his stronger game counterpart in 3
I’ve watch sonic 3 at least 10 times in theatres at this point. It’s my new favorite movie replacing PiB Last Wish. One of the Top 2 moments in the whole movie is the opening. Don’t want to spoil but if you’ve watched it you know the exact scene I’m talking about

Angel Island was once part of the land that would come to be known as The Mystic Ruins by the time the series begins, which originally was where the Master Emerald and Chaos Emeralds resided when they were being guarded by the mystical watery entity known as Chaos who watched over them and the Chao (Chaos originally was a Chao that was enhanced by the power of the Emeralds). Tikal was the daughter of the leader of the Ancient Echidnas, Pachacamac, and she came to befriend Chaos, but the Ancient Echidnas desired the power of the Emeralds so they stormed the shrine. Upon seeing the Chao being hurt by the attack, Chaos used the power of the Emeralds to transform into a giant monster that destroyed the Ancient Echidnas. To prevent his rampage from destroying everything else, Tikal used the power of the Master Emerald to seal herself and him within it where they would remain until Eggman ends up shattering the Master Emerald at the beginning of Sonic Adventure thousands of years later in hopes of using the power that was recorded from that time period that Chaos displayed to destroy Station Square so that he could build Eggmanland on its ruins. The Master Emerald negates the power of the Chaos Emeralds and after Chaoses rampage thousands of years prior, The Master Emerald's power broke the land it was on apart from the rest of the land and lifted it into the sky turning it into Angel Island where Knuckles would eventually be born thousands of years later and be left as the guardian of The Master Emerald by the time of Sonic's time period. 50 years before the series began, Gerald Robotnik, Dr. Eggman's grandfather, ended up traveling to Angel Island in his research of The Ancient Echidnas and The Chaos Emeralds, with he himself even obtaining one of the Chaos Emeralds for use in his experiments. Pretty much everything he did was based on his research of the Ancient Echidnas culminating in Project Shadow, an Immortality Research Project that he was asked to do by The President but that Gerald sought to perform as a means to find a cure for his grandaughter, Maria's, terminal illness, N.I.D.s. From this the Artificial Chaos, Biolizard, and (finally) Shadow the Hedgehog would be created aboard the Space Colony ARK which Gerald had created and the the scientific minds of the world convened at to perform advanced experiments. Project Shadow would end up becoming the main project of ARK and in time would come to worry other researchers with how destructive the Biolizard came to be once it was created. To try and buy more time to finish the final model's creation, Shadow the Hedgehog, Gerald handed over an advanced machine that he'd obtained of The Ancient Echidnas, The Gizoid, to the higher-ups. Though he instructed it not to absorb more weaponry to try and keep it peaceful, the higher-ups were able to find some way to make it do so and in the process caused it to go on a rampage that decimated parts of ARK. While it was eventually stopped and Shadow the Hedgehog was completed, the Guardian Units of Nations (G.U.N. (essentially the military of Sonic's world that tends to work with the United Federation (the country that's essentially The United States of America in Sonic's world)), who had always been against the project, raided ARK and captured or killed those aboard it (civilians living aboard it had been sent to Earth prior to the raid). While Maria was able to send Shadow to Earth, she herself got caught in the crossfire and was killed. G.U.N. ended up finding and retrieving Shadow, who they sealed into cryogenic sleep and Gerald (who they'd captured), after learning of Maria's death, set to work manipulating Shadow's dormant mind so that he could one day set things in motion aboard the ARK to utilize its Eclipse Cannon's System to fail and slam into the Earth with the power of the Chaos Emeralds to kill everybody if he were ever awakened. Though Gerald gave his warning to G.U.N. about how the world would pay for what they'd done as his final words before his execution, they likely thought of it as just the ravings of a madman and killed him once he told them he had nothing else to say. Years and years later, Eggman would begin looking for the Chaos Emeralds to take over the world himself with Sonic, a Hedgehog that was born on Christmas Island, constantly getting in his way causing various calamities, both created by Eggman as well as found by him from the past, to occur and be dealt with.
Snow dogs wasn't that bad, I found it funny and a great film. Just wait till you watch Sonic 3 with Shadow. Which so far was the best Sonic movie yet. Though there is a Knuckles spin-off show.
If you ever watch DuckTales 2017, Sonic's movie VA voices Dewey Duck and he acts a lot like movie sonic too kinda. It's a really fun show, but all I can hear is Dewey whenever Sonic talks lol
