    Is the waterproofing from the material or a special coating? Just wondering if it wears off after a lot of uses/washes.
    Nice review video! Keep it up.

      It is the material the socks are made from. It should not wear off. They remind me of a thin version of the bottoms of my fishing waders (i.e. the neoprene booty section).

    I bought a pair of these a couple of years ago to wade in creeks while fly fishing. They are definitely not "waterproof" for very long. The thin layer of neoprene does help to keep your feet warm in cold water, but work more like surfing booties after a while. Water gets in for sure...

    Nice video! Thanks for your review! By the way, they are machine washable but hand wash is better. Water temperature should be below 40 degree centigrade. Do not iron, dry clean or tumble dry.

    Lasted 2 winters, always hand washed when needed and rotated 2 pairs so they had time to rest/dry...now they just do a good job at holding the water in :(

    Get a chance to test them in the field for hikes in muddy conditions yet? Wondering if the breathability helps keep your foot from getting too sweaty.

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  4 года назад

      I have not used for hiking much yet. I usually use non-waterproof trailrunners for most of the year. I used them rafting a few times and loved them.

    Only five minutes submerged in water is hardly enough time to display performance longevity.
    The real question is. How long do they hold up to prolonged use in the field/outdoors 🤔⁉.

    Loving your review videos! Please keep them coming!! Curious though, could you wear these over other socks? I would worry that, when worn alone, they would not wick away moisture (sweat) from your feet on the inside. Curious to know your thoughts after you have had time to further experiment with them!! Again, thank you for these review videos!! 👍

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  4 года назад +2

      Elizabeth D I have not tried that, but can’t imagine it would not work. I wear socks inside my wader booties which are similar. The only issue would be thickness getting into your boots. If you size up, it would add extra warms and wicking. I often wear liner socks (thin, synthetic) inside my wool socks.

    • @OutsideChronicles

      Yes, the inside will hold water. Not sure I would rely on that or want to drink from stinky socks, unless it was an emergency.

    I work in a meat shop where I’m scrubbing blood off the floors several times a day. Running the hose and squeegees so much I’m constantly soaking my feet and no waterproof shoe in my budget has actually held up. These seem like they’ll keep the moisture out but my question is how well do they hold up to constant wear? How often will I need to replace them if I’m wearing them 40-50 hours a week?

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  Год назад +1

      Tough to say. I use them to raft, but even at that it’s only a dozen times per year until the weather turns. I’d give a pair a try and see. They are like a thin neoprene material.

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  4 года назад +1

      I would say no. They do not have a gasket at the top. It would probably hold for a quick submersion. But a long time, they definitely get water in over the top. I think they make taller ones. Thanks for watching.
