Great video! Please make more! If I had to guess… maybe running the stereo input sums the inputs to the sub and create a +3 input signal for the HDL12as?
Thanks! I do have more coming....as soon as RCF starts sending product out to me. You are correct, when I run these out of my DJ controller or drive rack I do get a little more room before they limit, but I still would not recommend these to anyone. It is apparent that RCF missed the mark on these as they quit making them.
Thanks for taking the time, did you find there was value in raising the sub to the top to throw the low end as opposed to a bunch of ground subs? I know they’re not potent but
how many hdl6a have you run off a single 20A circuit? kinda' looks like you have this whole stack jumpered. I have 12 hd6a's arriving today planning for x6 per side with x1 sub per side... was thinking hdl12as until watching this... now trying to track down some hdl35as. I found x4 hdl12as available but I think my arrays will be too long if I run x2 per side plus I think x1 35as will still be beefier than x2 12as at roughly the same cost.
These little speakers do not draw a ton of amps...at all. You could easily run each side from a dedicated circuit. Do not buy the hdl12as, you will be very regretful. I contacted rcf when I had mine and told them they are awful, the VP of sales actually took my call and said that they really are not a strong performer and encouraged me to spend the money to get the 35's. Best of luck, let me know how it goes. The hdl6a is an amazing cabinet.
Hey , how do you find these.? I am re fitting a small indoor be ie permanent install. Currently has an ev tour x system installed that's hit old and is huge. I am considering a sub stage left and stage right and maybe one or two 6s each side .. it will be a very tidy install but worried may loose the ooomph we get from the tx1181s!
nice equipment you got bro!!! RCF, QSC, JBL! the best of the best! My small setup is: 4 JBL PRX818xlf 2 JBL PRX815w 4 QSC K8.2 My big setup is: 2 JBL SRX818sp 4 RCF HDL10a 4 QSC K8.2
Sweet Tree Productions or Mike w/ Audiopyle both are about the same price wise. I have heard production on the HDL6's were back logged by a couple of months.
@@mghattendorf yeah, i have been working with John at sweet tree to get my order and he told me today they were about 12 weeks out. Thanks for the reply.
I wish it was that simple. I used them at several events where a single channel fed each side/array...they still suck. I sold them months ago, well actually I gave them away when i sold my hdl6a lineup.
Is it possible to stack the 6As on top of the 12AS or can you not because you need the link bar and the cutout on the bottom of the sub to make that work?
I re-read your comment. You could pin the fronts of the 6a's directly on top of the 12's but the rear of the 6's is tapered and will aim up and not be adjustable without the flybar underneath it. Sweet tree has a video that shows exactly how the 6's ground stack on subs with the flybar so you can see what would happen if you dont have it.
Really expensive. I called RCF and spoke with a VP after my initial posting of this video. He offered to pay the shipping cost to return them if I picked up the HDL35 which he said was a far better product. Of course at 2.5x the cost of these I would expect as much. It was a gamble getting these and I lost. Wanna buy them?
I recently demo'd several 12" subs for small events and honestly a sub702 and Yamaha dxs12 blow these hdl's out of the water. I do agree the HDL6 are screamers.

Nope sold them and that whole hdl6a rig last week. These "subs" only went to 2 gigs the past year.

Why did you sell your HDL 6’s?

Don't waste your money. Supposedly the hdl35 is way better, but at 2x the price.
These might make sense for a fixed install at like a house of worship, where heavy bass is not needed.
thanks for the review, I was curious about these subs.
I cannot recommend these honestly. I tried ramping them up and could barely hit mid 90's DB without limiting. Its a problem.
@@mghattendorf I appreciate the honest and unbias opinion
I have the HDL 20s and was thinking about pairing them with the HDL 18a

I am looking at purchasing 10-12 of the HDL6-A's, can you tell me where you got yours? I am just looking for the best price. Thanks,

Hi Mark, the problem you have with the HDL12 its simple you re feeding 2 lines at once overpowering the signal that's way it clips!!

Yes. There is a screw in adapter that comes with the flybar so you can stack HDL6's on any sub with an M20 thread on top of it.

What are the amplifier you use?
QSC subs are rockin🤟
Compared to these subs, yes they are.
I think for 5 pieces of 06 you should put 3 of 12 Subs to have a fair balance. But then it gets really expensive...

I tried my best to come up with RCF's claimed 131 spl. About the best I could do was right at 102 db, far far from 131.
They doing it with Pink Noise! Also just use the L input instead of stereo! It should have more headroom, since bass signals are not in stereo!
@@justanotherbeautiful5736 I will have to try that. These things have been sitting in my garage collecting dust since April.
102db at 1 meter (3 feet) distance?? That's extremely low. There must be something wrong with the speaker og the spl logging software you are using.
You're probably measuring continuous and not peak
You sending full range to the sub…
Good
Gain structure... That's the deal.
1 12 sub can’t even keep up with 1 hdl 6. Let alone 5
