So sad , it was such a beautiful mall
+Lana _ agree
Lana, I agree. It made me sad to see this, hurts my heart a bit. In the modern world so much is temporary. The older I become the less of what once was exist any longer. And the pace of the loss of a tangible past is increasing. Scary!
I agree 100%
I agree Lana it looks like a fucking mess it looks like a shopping centre in an apocalyptic horror film
Comments at the beginning are unnecessary and holier than thou. Just show the footage ffs
This mall used to be so cool
You can tell that this is a Rouse mall from the uniquely designed skylights. It reminds me a lot of my childhood mall, Burlington Center Mall (which is sadly under demolition).
Hey Seph, cool video. I live on the other side of the now gone mall. I remember when this was as vibrant as any mall. The company that owned this mall built another mall called Arundel mills and threw all their money into that. The sad thing is.. another shopping center was built less than a mile away and the company that owned Owings Mills Mall was furious. But by then they had already let the mall die. For those who dont know, Owings Mills is a young vibrant community that has a college near the townhomes and condos.. So boooo to you GGP for letting this place die. Thank you Seph for this video
+brenton scott thanks for sharing!
so sad :( that was nice looking mall do it didnt even have chance to decay
I last visited that mall over 20 years ago when i lived in Baltimore, MD. Just weird knowing it is no more
I live in Owings Mills, I live less than 5min away from here and use to go to this mall all the time. They had fabulous fashion shows there. Hard to believe this is the same place.
Great video! The whole story of Owings Mills fascinates me as well as its failure in such a short time. Hope the people living in Owings Mills get something good to replace the mall.
+Claire Osada thank you
So far its a costco.
there’s a bunch of new stores now but it’s still so sad to think of what it used to be
TownHomes, Condos, Stores such as Marshalls, Lowes, and places to eat replaced it.
Beautifully haunting
Great lighting. The food court with rotting vegetation speaks volumes.
I don't like how they left the plants to die either but it's not like you can just uproot those palm trees and plant them outside in Maryland. You'd have to find them another indoor atrium or ship them to Florida or California.
+Sean Reilly Agree
I used to be a janitor there when I was in high school. Went to northwestern. Was intended to be a high class mall with stores from New York. Then the subway came...
I remember under age smoking in that mall. I saw it from its beginning.
Crazy times in that place
The music and the way the camera pans reminds me of being underwater looking over a ship wreck or something. The music gives a hint of the breathing respirator and sound of water (bubbles) passing. VERY!! VERY cool. TY for your work.
+bobhijita thank you!
Very eerie, but well put together video! One nitpick I have about the video is the part where you denounce RUclipsrs who depend on donations. It's not like these RUclipsrs force you to donate or anything like that. Plus, most of their tiers, regarding sites like Patreon, are very fair in terms of pricing. At least they aren't like the author of the TwoKinds comic who forces you to pay $200 if you want one of his colorless artwork to be colored. That is where I draw the line In terms of donations. That is just scummy.
The titanic came to mind as I watched your video. No one died but the concept is similar. These huge malls "sinking" so to speak. It is sad to me. Great work.
+amyco 3167 well said..thank you!
I know this video is 5 years old, but I’ve been obsessed with everything about this mall since Dan Bell did his videos, which were also amazing. We are living in very bad times to be letting these places go. All we will have left is the internet, which has already become too handy. We are all becoming hermits, which really isn’t a bad thing at the minute, for obvious reasons, but we need somewhere to go if/when we get out of this
Too bad that this mall reached it's pinnacle just as the concept of enclosed malls began to fade. Online shopping also affected the mall concept, so easy to shop from home, but the downfall really escalated for Owings Mills with that robbery and murder. That threw up so many red flags that shoppers stayed away.
Seems bout right
Anyone else have the urge @ 1:00 to shoot that green propane can on the right, then run to that low wall in the middle and duck as you tactical-reload your assault rifle? Maybe a bit too much FPS games for me,,,,but the way this is filmed, it's kinda asking for it.
creepy
Amazing :) My absolute favorite video of this mall is on a channel called Exploring with Purkz, called "Drone found inside abandoned mall", with the best part being the guy skateboards through the mall followed by a drone at 4:36, which begins at this dual escalator, before it looked like this.
I watched several videos of this mall on the channel of Dan Bell, for sure worth to watch :))
I went to that mall when I was in HS.
Couldn’t just have the video with taking shots at people lmao
fr, I didn't come for negative commentary on society
I got so many memories here
This is exactly why there's a movement started to form communities, to know and be friends with all your neighbors, to grow food, get goats for milk, chickens for eggs, basically becoming farmers and conservators of our lands and become less and less dependent on any government to sustain us. Going off grid is good for your health and sanity.
Cool video Seph!
Thanks man...here's looking at you kid 👍🏼
SEPH LAWLESS do you ever wear a respirator? Lots of toxic stuff out there!
Man i remeber when that mall 1st opened
It's so weird having seen another video of this mall when it was mostly vacant but still operational. It's kind of post apocalyptic in a way. And stripped as it may be some signage remains.
I think about the days when this mall was a hustling, bustling mecca of activity, the sales and the Black Fridays that took place here, sad to see what it has become.. Your work is incredible
Thank you
Love the sound effects. It is a toss up between vapor wave and this sound approach that makes quite impact with the images.
Thank you
It reminds me of dark ambient music and Cryo Chamber.
That Boscovs atrium looks like the Macy’s location in the Gardens Mall
I used to work at Hecht's. This video makes me feel like Charlton Heston at the end of Planet of the Apes!!! 😢
0:51 that's in boscovs! Notice the B? That's the boscovs logo. Why did they demolish boscovs? :( it's the best store!
Because boscovs was the first store to go out of the whole mall and because it wasn’t making a lot of money
Boscovs closed around 2006/07 way before the mall closed
it was a great mall I moved and didn't even know it was gone until moving back. Now they have replaced that mall with shopping centers, townhomes and condos. The movie theatre is still there though.
I currently work for Macy's & at 5:40 seeing the "Magic" on the wall gives me the willys cause' that's on our break room wall 😅
Very cool! I used to work there in an art supply store and also have many memories from my youth there.
other than stupid comments during the vid it was average..
Tell the demons in the mall to quiet down, it's creepy
i lick your video how log this mall bend abandoned seph lawless
When someone says " Mall " I think Chinese Products Garbage Dump.
It's the apocalypse
Pretty crazy that it only took 30 years to look like this.
When are they bringing this mall down I really hope it doesn't end up like Hawthorne Plaza in L.A.
H.H. foxaddict I was under the impression that it's gone now or almost gone?
+Katie Richards it is and the area being redeveloped
SEPH LAWLESS Wait it's already gone? Seph how recent is this video? Just because I saw both yours and Dan Bells video recently
+H.H. foxaddict ...I was just here doing Facebook LIVE to time stamp that this was the last video and photos taken. Taken just a few days ago if you go on my verified Facebook page the LIVE video is still up with over 250k views and counting. The police came after seeing my Facebook but only shook my hand and said they love my stuff! 👍🏼👍🏼
i lick your video how old this mall is seph lawless
i lick your video seph lawless i is cool
I use to shop in this mall so many memories.
Those elevators were awesomely cool looking in that blueish looking lighting.
Ah
Very very spooky!
I remember when this opened.I was 6 years old.I use to shop here all the time.Suncoast was almost like a second home for me since I got most of my VHS and early DVD's there.Ofcourse the mall is gone now and they have several big stores.Giant Foods opened a huge new store there replacing the St. Thomas location.A Costco,Lowes,Marshalls,Burlington,Five Below and some other stores have opened there too.I have to admit that I do like the new Giant.
Dan Bell may have you beat on this one.
+Jeffrey Drozek-Fitzwater oh yes he likes malls almost dead still partly open dying retail I only shoot abandoned malls! Cheers!
I should've written that better. He also went to Owings Mills when it was being torn down. The video is in B&W, so it's hard to tell if his video or yours was filmed further along in demolition.
As a fellow NEO native, I appreciate your work!
+Jeffrey Drozek-Fitzwater oh I’m not sure but this is owings and Dan Bell is a friend does great work! Thanks!
Awesome Video! So sad Malls are closing at sucha rapid Pace! Thankyou for all your great Videos Seph! Always watch them and like. Subscribed in October and enjoy watching! You have amazing Talent and it's awesome of you to share it with Others with your Videos!
I'm curious - what do these abandoned malls smell like?
+pixelilly strong mold smell
+Fans and elevators With Mr. Pullchain ...mold is just one of the aromas ...over a decade of going into malls all over the world I can tell you each mall smells different and it's usually not pleasant.
+Fans and elevators With Mr. Pullchain ...all depends on when you went. I photographed it several times since it closed all the way until it got torn down. Through my images you can watch it slowly decay from a good state to a very bad state even filled with snow over the years.
like bad vagina
How are you able to gain access to these dead malls to make these videos? Sorry if this questionhas been asked already on this thread, just curious
It's sad and a disgrace how these fantastic buildings are left to rot. It's not progress.
Use the sound track from the horror movie "Carnival of Souls" for maximum effect.
Marble floors imported from France
Dam soo sad how i grow up going to this mall now luk is gone forever wat a shame🤦😥😪
am i watching a horror movie or just an abandoned place?
the ambiant sound gives it te video and sad, errie feel, i love the respect you give your videos
They actually stripped all the tile out of that place? That is amazing.
So cool
Cool
+T Pro Thank you
Awesome video, annoying sounds
Your videos and photos are truly beautiful, in a eerie, haunting way. the most iconic photo, to me, is the falling apart escalators at Rolling Acres. Demolition has begun on Rolling Acres, and amongst all the demo around it, the big, beautiful, orange fountain still remains. I am new to your RUclips channel, however, not unfamiliar with your work.
Tamara Rohlin There is a 19 part (and growing) series of the demolition of the Rolling Acres mall. It is from DAWN FRANK. She uses a drone and its very good. Check that out. Very beautiful and sad. :(
Bad that the ladt video is from dan bell .
+Leos Technik Kanal ..Dan is a close friend of mine and definitely would consider that as well...by the time I went here nothing was left inside as construction crews were tearing down the mall. Dan Bells Hotel series is on Amazon now go check it out! ✌🏼😀
que orrivel
I'd stay out of those places if I were you guys.. they're good spots for killer clowns or cereal killers to hide out..
It's serial killers .... Cereal is something you eat for breakfast ;)
..I see my mistake now..
I'm a cereal killer, I kill cornflakes every morning. :P
ITS AUTOCORRECT OK??? geez
You're a master at what you do Seph...
+Debra Evans Thank you!
I really like your videos, but the music is a little off putting. Anyway, don't let my gripe bother you as I tend to gripe a lot in my old age. ;) Keep up the fantastic work, you've got a new subscriber!
So brave to go in these places alone.
🙏🏼
@@SEPHLAWLESS And the background sounds make it even more eerie to watch you walk through places like these. But I love watching you still. Stay safe
Clever idea and I like these videos, but this is about 10 minutes worth of the same escalators...
Yea you’d enjoy the other 23 abandoned malls I’ve been too they have far more things left in them
Awesome! Which was your favorite to explore?
This one was fun ruclips.net/video/Pb6Fl5RBExQ/видео.html
Very cool! I like the way you read the quotes from people. Gave it life. Well done man
Thx!
Do you know what the former site of the mall looks like right now?
+OG Based Bitches Hoes demolished
SEPH LAWLESS is it just plain empty? I seen a video where it is last seen in February 14th all empty but I haven't seen it in March
+OG Based Bitches Hoes they didn't post it till then this is the last video I was kicked out by police and security
SEPH LAWLESS oh alright. It's actually quite surprising this mall has garnered recent attention
+OG Based Bitches Hoes I'm known for bringing attention to several abandoned places across the U.S. most of my projects have gone viral over the years bringing a lot of attention to these places 👍🏼👍🏼
