As a Latin Mass Catholic, this has been on my mind. At some point it becomes exhausting to fight the church when our focus should be simply Christ and sanctification.
Maybe the problem here is rather that you're valuing temporal things like orientem over eternal things like Jesus founding the Church on St. Peter. This is why I've come to the conclusion that radical trads are just as problematic as modernists. I go to NO mass and I'm very happy there, the Church was by no means perfect before Vatican 2 and it's about time trads understand why Vatican 2 was necessary and we could not go on without it. This is the new millennium and we need to reorganize, rethink strategies, and grow. Trads are still stuck in the past like Modernists are stuck in modernity.
Please look into Orthodox and the rich spiritual tradition of the church…you won’t regret it! Start with The Way of a Pilgrim, the Philokalia and unseen warfare.
@ I have investigated it rather thoroughly and have read way of the pilgrim. I have a few problems though: 1- the orthodox mass is not as beautiful or reverent as the Latin mass. 2- their view of the Trinity sort of makes Jesus not fully God and throws the Trinity out of balance. 3- the icon veneration being essentially a sacrament makes me uncomfortable. 4- Jesus commanded us to follow Peter and gave him the keys. And the schism in 1054 seems square on the orthodox from my research especially after they all agreed to papal supremacy in 519. 5- orthodox adding in god energies that has no scriptural or church father’s basis. But I do very much love the Orthodox Church.
I’m a 32 year old single mom, last year, myself and my two kids entered the church, I was drawn to continuity, reverence and clarity on scriptures, among other things. Glory to God. This article was kind of harsh and sensationalistic, I’m not drawn to the masculinity of the church, but God in it. I was drawn to the Eucharist
I live near the SSPX Seminary and I talked to my Priest and he said that they're bursting at the seams because these young men want be in the Traditionalist Latin Rites. I believe that 28 young men have entered the Seminary meanwhile there has been a major influx of the Faithful attending the Mass of All Ages. God Bless to all.

I was in OCIA (aka RCIA) but on the fence between Orthodoxy & RC when Fiducia Supplicans came out. Priests and Catholic laity made every excuse to follow Pope Francis even in this clear heresy, so I became Orthodox. Best thing I've EVER done.
@@kyriosbooks8400 I am an ex-catholic who converted to Eastern Orthodoxy at the age of 55. I knew about Eastern rite. It didn’t change my mind. I went to the source and experienced a Divine Liturgy. I knew I was at the original church established by God at Pentecost.
Orthodox, in monastic life, here. Well said. The priests I know are now routinely baptizing 9-12 catechumens at a time. Many are atheist young men, straight from the world. The RC church seems to be starving its laity. I feel we have a giant buffet, but Rome closed theirs and forces everyone to McDonald’s. When I travel in Catholic countries, where so many stopped practicing, people often want to open up. I try to encourage them to turn to the Saints. The Saints see what has become of their lives’ work, and they see when people are abandoned by their hierarchs.
@jaqian they didn't have it 30 years ago ! 😊 Monk doesn't mean a beehive cell on a windswept island. They probably have a fancy nespresso coffee machine in their ref. Most monks are living in community but not separate from the world.
I'm going to speak from my own experience here in my Diocese. We are defintely starving for reverence especially the younger faithfuls who are turning to the SSPX. We have a good chunck of our Parishes here where the Mass resembles a Protestant praise and worship service. I call it jazz hand litrugy. By October 2025 the 2 Parishes that offer the TLM in my area will be no more. We are starving.
@@AgapeDemetrius i see the opposite, i spent time in the eastern block, and not much people attend the EO liturgies. Under 1 percent in russia, and that is the biggest church.
Of course you are especially glad since you are from a predominantly Orthodox land. Your countrymen here in the diaspora in Sweden cater almost exclusively to their own little ethnic group of Romanians. They don't care so much of us natives, or to evangelize. It hurts me because it's my country and we took these people in. 😮And I am Swedish , not ROMANIAN (with capital letters for some reason. ) We have said it before, these parishes will die out if they don't start using the local language! So foolish! They can't even use Swedish for their services schedules making sure no native Swede can even find them unless he/she knows where to check this out.

Latin mass is more and more outlawed in my country, Austria. There are almost no Latin parishes left. RCC has become very feminine, lukewarm, and it simply lost its backbone.
It doesn't compare to the Holy Orthodox liturgy. I've tried the latin mass and although it was a step up from the typical, organ filled roman mass it doesn't come close to the feeling of Holiness and Christ in the Orthodox liturgy. Just try once and you'll see.
I'm 63, and I converted to Orthodox 30 years ago, from being a lifelong Catholic... here in the UK. Of course, the Orthodox have problems with jurisdiction disagreements and internal politics... That's nothing new in Apostolic Christianity over the past 2,000 years, as we are fallen humans. But, the one thing that unites all Orthodox is total agreement on the Faith, the path of theosis, and how the Faith is practiced. I was disillusioned by the Catholic Church after Vatican II, and the steady roll of modernisations that followed. It was clear that it was to have more 'modernistic appeal', which is something that the Church has never done before in all it's history. The prime reasons for young men becoming Orthodox across the West is exactly as you explain. It's difficult and thoroughly engaging. Almost half the year is fasting, with strict fasting throughout Lent and Advent (vegan diet), and other times of the year. Fasting every Wednesday and Friday... and then there's a lot of mysticism around the Faith, not legalistic as in Western Christianity. The experience of the services is what grips people, feeling the reality of heaven come down to earth in the unending heavenly Liturgy. The reverence, prostrations, and awareness of the awe of God. If we wish to receive Communion, we have to fast from any food and water from the previous evening, prepare with pre-communion prayers, and any personal quarrels with others must have been reconciled. Otherwise, we must not receive Communion, because we are receiving Christ Himself. Yes, it's difficult. Orthodoxy is daily living, with an ascetic focus. And yes, standing for 3 hours if you attend Matins followed immediately by the Liturgy on a Sunday or Holy Day. We have confession face to face with the priest, in the open of the church before the icon of Christ... an icon Corner in our homes where we pray... and we have a personal Spiritual Father for spiritual advice and help. It's a way of life, and it's constantly engaging and difficult. That's the Christianity of the New Testament. Probably the main reason for so many young men turning to Orthodoxy is because it doesn't change with society and current fashions. The Church is Christ's body, unchanging in beliefs and it's essence. There is no single Head of the Orthodox Church who issues new declarations that everyone must accept. No single person has that power, which is a safeguard against heresy for the whole Church. Even if it has many human flaws and fall-outs over politics and jurisdiction, Orthodoxy is secure in the Faith and it's expression of the Faith. We are reminded we are not of the 'world', but of Christ's Kingdom. For men who feel that their masculinity and maleness is confronted by society, and we don't really know who we are anymore, then Orthodoxy offers a traditional identity, and expectations beyond any Protestant, and unfortunately I have to add, Roman Catholic expectations. Plus, there's an incredible experience of love. One thing that has enormous appeal is the personal compassion of Christ found in Orthodoxy. As individuals, we sin and fall in our weakness and get up again, and fall, and get up again. If you want an easy life, I suggest not becoming Orthodox. But then again, Christianity and Christ's teachings were always rebellious, unconventional, going against the grain of society. It still is.
Hello. I have been considering the Orthodox Church too, but there are several problems. There are scarcely any Orthodox Churches in Spain fitst, second re-chrismation is a big deal for me and third, the liturgical degeneration of the Novus Ordo is not so pronounced in many places. Specifically in Spain we have an acceptable "average" Novus Ordo. My real problem with the Catholic Church is NOT the Liturgy. If this were the case, I would become an Easter Catholic (also very difficult in Spain). My real problem with the Catholic Church is her specific theological positions in regarding issues such as Filioque, Original Sin, Inmaculate Conception, Purgatory, Grace and Predestination. I tend to think that both, the Eastern position and the Western position does not differ in essence, BUT they differ in explanation, in theological exposition. The West thinks from the perspective of Saint Augustine and has rejected for centuries the Eastern perspective in all this questions. I think that the Faith in the West is correct, but the theological explanation is NOT correct. Should I be asked: what would be your (my) reason to leave the Catholic Church? I would say without any doubt: saint Augustine is one of the greatest reasons to leave the West, insofar the West is not anything else than augustinianism in permanent conflict with itself.

The sad thing is there are no role models for the women in the church. There are no sisters. We need to have a increase in vocations for women to religious life.

Just come from evening mass. The singer up beside the altar with a microphone for herself and a seond for the guitar. Much of the music Christian, but very American born again/ new age type stuff. One tradational Christmas hymn as we are still in christmas tide. I find these intrusions like a penance, I just pray to endure it. Of course, rounds of applause for the singer at the end. Of course, singing over the eucharistic prayers. It was like the preist was the roadie for the concert, busying himself with something in the background. The homily was completely forgettable However..... and this is the exciting part, I'm sure all the rest is very familiar. The priest , a young man, early thirties, sang the eucharistic prayers! He had a fine, strong voice, and the gregorian chant style singing echoed around the church, and for a few moments, it was magical and mysterious and reverant and holy. More of this, please
I listened to yet another wishy washy homily today. Us all looking like lost sheep, no wind for the sails of Irish people. Just "hope".. And to top it, clapping at the end of Mass cos the choir sang from the balcony, while we remain mute in the pews. It is awful. And I gave out to myself for grumbling... But it would be nice to hear a homily that was real, and ban clapping and chatting in the church after the mass..reverence, and for everyone to sing again.
I joined the Antiochian Orthodox Church from Celtic Neo-Paganism. My heritage was also very important for me so much so that I went full pre-Christian for 9 years. But Ireland has Orthodox heritage too cause it has pre-schism Christian heritage, and its pre-schism heritage is much closer to the Thebaid tradition than to Rome. The desert fathers like St. Anthony the Great and St. Athanasius. So the middle eastern culture i’m immersed in at my parish is actually very comfortable for me, I learned some Arabic and help with the chanting and I even got to do the gospel reading in Irish for the Agape Vespers service last year. Cultural difference is becoming less of an issue as people from different backgrounds become Orthodox, but it takes centuries for an entire culture to be fully baptized into the church and become as established and unique as say the Romanian Orthodox, so we must have patience I’m also a young woman, married to an Irish Catholic. But much of the catechumens at my parish are indeed young men of various Christian backgrounds
I’m so happy I converted to orthodoxy - the true original church. And to compare the problems of the Catholic Church with that of the Orthodox Church is not fair - not comparable
I am not American but Swedish. I went the other way around, became Catholic. Eastern Orthodoxy is regional, national and ethnic, not universal. 80% of the world's Eastern Orthodox is residing in only 10 out of 195 countries in the world (and 50 % of the world's Eastern Orthodox are in only one country). The diaspora here is predominantly ethnic with many jurisdiction. Not many parishes use the native language of the land despite being here for many decades. Despite them making noise, there's only 0.3 % of the US population that are Eastern Orthodox.
I thank God that I found the Oratory of St. Philip Neri (Toronto). When I came back to the faith I chose this church even though I'm not within the parish boundaries (based on taking the time to first educate myself by watching your blog among others Robert).... it is EXACTLY what I had been needing all my life. I grew up attending two churches one with the guitar kumbaya nonsense and the other alter girls and boys (and here even lay people handing out the Eucharist - when this started I realized I wasn't sure what the point of any of this was because I didn't know there was anything different). How different my life would have been had I known about this important distinction earlier!
Western Rite Orthodox, like St. Patrick Orthodox Church in Bealeton, VA, is the best of both/all worlds. Genuine, authentic Olde Episcopal/Anglican liturgies and impressive Orthodox ceremonies. Wonderful RUclips broadcasts.
I think we need a return to Catholic liturgical orthodoxy, BUT not JUST that... it needs to be combined with a return to the understanding of the teachings of Apostle Paul and the early church fathers during the first centuries of the Catholic church. Only then will we once more have a solid fundament on which to grow solid and strong Christian Catholic communities here in the West
The Orthodox Liturgy is simply beautiful. It has a warmth that is missing in the traditional Latin Mass, and Novus Ordo. The icons, veneration, singing, just beautiful. It is like Heaven on earth.

I began attending Orthodox services in '95. The elusive higher theology that was always right around the corner but not shown or taught, I am finding in the Catholic Church. I am missing the sights and sounds of Orthodoxy, but theology is foundational.
In '95, that doesn't surprise me... although, all the services are jam packed full of theology. In my parish, you'll hear the young men standing around in groups after the Liturgy with their coffee and cake, and the main topic of discussion seems to be theology and what books they are reading. It seems that things have changed.
Father forgive my interruption, but I belive that nowadays we live, not only young people thirst for tradition and something sacred, but most of the people do want that.. I think we've reached to this point where people got bored of continuous intersections and changes in the church...everything is changing so fast in our lives and people need something stable

As a former rad trad now ROCOR cathechumen, my advice would be to STOP making believe the changes in Vatican 2 don’t exist, making believe that Bergoglio and the past popes aren’t all at least, borderline commiting heresy, focus more on the church fathers, end the innovations, lastly, Convert to True Catholic Orthodoxy. I will always be grateful for the Catholic faith for bringing me to God, but Orthodoxy is where true spiritual contact with Christ can be found.

I am Western and the Eastern Orthodox is alien to me. Though there is a effeminate tendency in the post V2 conciliar church, the Roman Church is my home in spite of its pathetic leadership...there are many fundamental theological obstacles that would keep me from joining the East.
I'm curious about that, as it's the theology of Rome that changed after the Schism, not the East, which remains the same as it was since the early Church Fathers.
@@OrthoBrit Catholic theology hasn't changed, but some areas have developed in description and greater understanding. Its really not surprising or unexpected that we can improve and grow even closer to God through theology. If a catholic teaches something that truly is change, then he would be a heretic. I totally agree that catholic leadership in recent years has often been scandalous. But a Ferrari with a bad driver is still a Ferrari. Just most Ferrari drivers tend to be good historically.
I've thought the same about the traditional Latin mass. Despite silk vestments, left hand on the breast, doffing of birettas, and even lace, the ancient mass is masculine. A priest in a Roman chasuble at the altar looks very much like a workman in his apron at his bench.
Well, I think you’re spot on with these problems… I’m a Ukrainian Catholic in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Our liturgies are mostly in English and we keep faithfully the traditions of our byzantine Catholic heritage in my particular parish. The average age at liturgy is probably about 35. We have tons of kids, and no fewer than six altar servers at any liturgy. I admit that orthodoxy can be very attractive to guys that want more masculine liturgy and wanna be challenged… The problem is is that if you scratch the surface, you will find a church that has multiple divisions, in fighting among hierarchy, and a host of other problems. I must admit I’m kind of sad, because I’m 69 years old and I probably will not see the renewal of the (Roman Rite) in the Catholic Church in my lifetime. But… It is coming and it’s going to come with a vengeance! The young priest that are coming out now are going to set things straight… We just have to wait for the old guard to pass, and the road will be open for positive change.
The "new synodal church" welcomes EVERYONE BUT actual catholics! Im a Byzantine Catholic, so im still very lucky to have our Divine Liturgy and prayer/fasting life. I pray my faithful latin brothers get theirs back soon!
Just a small correction: you don’t actually “have to understand Latin” to serve at the authentic Roman Rite; in fact, even if you are the acolyte/server doing the responses, all you need is to memorise the responses, as they are always the same, without the need* to understand them.
@@maddyproctor1443 It wouldn’t and it isn’t 👍 I learned to serve at the Traditional Mass in my childhood, and guess what: that allowed me to serve the same Mass in 5 different countries so far, whether I spoke the local language or not.
i am quite confident you need to understand them because you are replying in the name of everyone but the Priest. If you a replying in the name of every person, you need to be able to speak on their behalf. It is not a hard thing to do to learn both the Latin and vernacular. But you must remember that while laymen attending the Mass may be even praying the rosary, the acolyte can't do just any other thing and his mind must be on the subject matter of what's been said.
@ I said you don’t need to understand Latin*. If you memorise the responses, you’ll also memorise their English translation, naturally, but often servers learn the translation before even training to serve.

I will say a few years back Timothy Flanders from OnePeterFive was orthodox for a few years and I think he said it on pints with Aquinas that he thought that the orthodox were unified in everything well, just like you said No. I, therefore will not join them either. We have mass every day if you can go I’m working, it’s early in the morning two masses on Sunday. First Friday and first Saturday. And quite a few altar boys, and we’re getting others coming in from other parishes that are sick and tired of the dillydally that is going on in their parish. Other than that, I think God for everything and like every parish there can be problems I’m not the priest we are gifted with three priests. So other than that, I’m actually gonna stay where I’m at and I have been for almost 40 years. So my friend take care and God bless and best to you in 2025.
@6:52 Imagine being a missionary in the 800s and a Bulgarian pagan reaponding with "Yeah, but which kind of Christian: Latin, Byzantine, or Frankish? My ancestors have been pagan for millennia!"
The statement about the tidal wave entering Orthodoxy may be a little overstated but only a little. It is also true that the Orthodox have lost much of their original members ( Greeks, Russians, and other Central Europeans over the years in the USA) I attend the SSPX Mass here in California
I spent most of my life as a ‘perennial philosophy’ type, saying “all religions hold some truth” etc. You know the type.. I started to see how foolish this attitude really is and decided it was time to choose a path and commit. And it was Christianity that drew me most. I got baptised Anglican 2 years ago.. I liked the music and I like CS Lewis. But I didn’t really know anything about ecclesiology and church history etc. Since then I have become obsessed with the topic and have basically concluded that a) Protestantism is untenable and b) the Church of England is spiritually dead and is just another vehicle for the woke neoliberal consensus. So where I am now is.. I still attend an Anglican Church but.. I’m basically in a state of paralysis unable to choose between Orthodoxy and Catholicism
there are eastern rite parishes/churches within the Catholic Church. So, who aims for all of that (or he likes more eastern spirituality then latin/western), if he does not have it in his own parish - search for eastern rite catholic parish, in that way you have all of that (beatifull sacred ancient liturgies etc) and you are staying in the true Church - Holy Catholic and Apostolic.
I attend an FSSP parish in Adelaide, South Australia. Our church is always pretty full, 3 X Priests when most Novo churches are struggling to get a priest for Sunday Mass. Many new altar servers too. People today want the old Faith, not this Protestantism style Catholicism.
Well. I didn't join the Orthodox Church. I did however change sui iuris to the Byzantine (Ruthenian) Catholic Church recently. Divine Liturgy has saved my soul.
I'd agree that the overall package appeals much more to the male psyche than large swathes of the Western church. I would also say though, that there is a very tender pastoral aspect to Orthodoxy too. As regards Catholics, well, since becoming Orthodox I've found a new affection and respect for my Catholic "separated brethren" that I sadly didn't have in my decades as an evangelical protestant Christian - forgive me for all the untruths and misrepresentations....
Greek Catholic Church lost 80% of their Sunday attendance. Not to mention the other orthodox strong holds. The Russian orthodox #2 was discovered to be sleeping with a guy and expelled. So before pointing fingers might want to take a deep look at the divided orthodox churches
The sad thing about some of these comments about converting is a celebration of apostacy from the See of Peter! Yes things are weird, but it does not justify in jumping overboard!
I dont understand, not just here but on other blogs too about downgrading and dissmissing the happy clappy people! Im.one of those people. I love the Lord Jesus..i have a personal relationship with him.and seek to serve him every day. Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice! Praise him, dance, sing to the Lord. I love to sing dance and clap. Many times, it's at home in my house as i work. What's wrong with it please? My heart sings with delight and I give Him Praise like this most days. When God answers my prayer i shout and praise Him. Please explain what's wrong with being happy clappy ? Occasionally, while i love and agree with so much you say Robert, it does seem a bit dismissive or judgemental of anyone who takes a slightly different approach.
I think there should be room for both kinds of adoration. Loving Jesus our Lord is the most important thing, as long as the Holy Eucharist is venerated with reverence.
I found the talk at the link below interesting also. Between 21:50 to 22:50 he talks about Iconoclasm and how Vatican II is a bit of Icon Smashing itself. Maybe that’s a common thought, but first time I heard it stated that specific way. ruclips.net/video/MVmwnZj4Qnk/видео.htmlsi=G1OhJLviwj_kHoEp
While you are correct that the Orthodox are constantly bickering about jurisdiction, that has pretty much zero effect on the average person in a parish. A Russian layman can still receive the sacraments in a Greek parish and vice versa. On the other hand, when the Vatican restricts the TLM, that affects lots of people in the pews. Yes, we Orthodox have a multitude of jurisdictions in Western countries, but that also means that for a layman they have more choice.
In 1965 at the age of 12. During that summer, the Novus order was introduced in the parish that I lived here.. I was baptized by Vincentians and confessed , Communed by the same . I was raised in a small Italian immigrant parish . Vincentians ran parish. Both of my parents sang in the choir.. in Latin and Italian. But at 12 years old., I knew instinctively that that liturgy was wrong. And obviously as the years passed the infrastructure of the church , I. E. The priest themselves, the importance put on the laity , as progress, the Franciscan push by John Michael Talbert. The image of Saint Francis skipping through Europe, like a daft hippie . 1991. I was into the fullness of the Orthodox Church. With my children, I’ve been baptized and Chrismated into the church . My wife for her mother to die, and then was the church also.. 34 years later, I’ve never looked back and have no desire to ever go back to the Latin church. Thousands of young men coming into the church.. thousands of men and women and children are coming into church from the Catholic Church on the main protestant churches fundamentalist, and Evangelical churches. Cruel to be kind
The Novus Ordo wasn’t imposed until 1969-70. If you’re thinking of 1965, that’s when the Tridentine Mass started to be offered in the vernacular (at least in the US). Paul VI also suppressed the Leonine prayers, which weren’t actually part of the Mass, and the Canon was no longer said silently. There may have been a few other tweaks I’m not remembering but it was still essentially the old Mass in English. Although they were already turning the priest around to look down on the people
Interesting. I'm from south africa and what you are describing is not happening here. Full engagement and full churches. But By and large African people are very religious .

As a Latin Mass Catholic, this has been on my mind. At some point it becomes exhausting to fight the church when our focus should be simply Christ and sanctification.
Exactly!
@ every single one of your concerns has been answered by Orthodox. They’re on here, find them.

I didn't think monks would be allowed access the internet. Is this normal?
@jaqian they didn't have it 30 years ago ! 😊
Monk doesn't mean a beehive cell on a windswept island. They probably have a fancy nespresso coffee machine in their ref. Most monks are living in community but not separate from the world.
Your giant buffet does not make your faith true, my friend. You should care for truth and not allowing something else directing your moves.

Actually we were organized many of us said the same and were censored and banned from synod...eg no more zoom conference which was really zombie conferences..and then the real man of power emerged...Austen Iverleigh
The synodal process has absolutely no interest in the liturgy. When you read the documents they published it becomes very clear.
You should talk to Taylor Marshall.
Traditional Roman Catholic Mass is heaven on earth. Unfortunately not too many can experience this beauty.
I 100% agree.
It won't be the same but there's nothing wrong with looking at the live Masses online. Several places offer that on RUclips.
Yeah.. the orthodox say that about their faith. I guess it’s all relative, but they are both beautiful.
Well said. Ad a convert I couldn't agree with you more. The latin mass is no substitution for the original Orthodox Holy liturgy.

The homily was completely forgettable
However..... and this is the exciting part, I'm sure all the rest is very familiar. The priest , a young man, early thirties, sang the eucharistic prayers! He had a fine, strong voice, and the gregorian chant style singing echoed around the church, and for a few moments, it was magical and mysterious and reverant and holy.
More of this, please
You could inform the priest of the parts of the singing that you disapprove of.
Indeed. Irish homilies are mostly moral therapeutic deism.
We tried mixing the choir in with the congregation but no one else sings, gave up after 2 years and went back to being a choir
Clapping ......aaargh!
You're looking for the Holy Orthodox Church then! ☦☦☦
Cultural difference is becoming less of an issue as people from different backgrounds become Orthodox, but it takes centuries for an entire culture to be fully baptized into the church and become as established and unique as say the Romanian Orthodox, so we must have patience
I’m also a young woman, married to an Irish Catholic. But much of the catechumens at my parish are indeed young men of various Christian backgrounds
I’m so happy I converted to orthodoxy - the true original church. And to compare the problems of the Catholic Church with that of the Orthodox Church is not fair - not comparable
exactly!! ☦☦☦
Indeed and in the Irish synodal report they said the mass is boring. Our liturgy has been stripped so much it has become a show

@@dogmalife2540 I spent almost a decade researching it. I’m convinced the EO are wrong for exactly the claims they make: the Papacy, the Filioque, Essence and Energies, etc
I am now considering leaving my Catholic Parish to the Orthodox Ukrainian Church.
Why not be a disciple and renew your parish? There is a deep deep Catholic mystical tradition to discover. We need to renew the faith in the midst of the crisis
Dont leave. Catholic Church is true Church which Christ established. Dont forget that you have eastern rite catholic parish you can visit. Dont go orthodox cause you are breaking communion with true Church. if you like eastern spirituality you have it within Catholic Church. Search for byzantine catholic parish in your town.
Why not the Byzantine Catholic Church?
@@thecatholicman - Robert! come on the game's up! The grass IS greener in Orthodoxy, you should know that! The 'problems' of Orthodoxy are not even on the radar compared to the utter mess the RCC is in. Sure we have disputes about jurisdiction etc sometimes but NONE about the Liturgy or teachings on Faith and morals. We don't have the heresies of the filioque or papal 'supremacy' not to mention 'infallibility'! When there are squabbles between the patriarchs that doesn't impact on the laity or even clergy below a bishop. Whereas your whole structure revolves and centres around the Bishop of Rome and therefore; his 'Synod', his pachamama, his protestant communion service, his dodgy papal documents, his view that all religions lead to God (and therefore we don't need Christ) etc.
Yup, as a convert from the RCC to Orthodoxy I confirm that the grass IS greener!
Good for you! I was Roman Catholic, received into the Orthodox Church last year, best thing I ever did! The Orthodox Church is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by Christ. When people suggest becoming Byzantine Catholic, remember the Byzantine Catholics give lip service to the heresies of the filioque and papal 'supremacy' and knuckle under to Francis.
You won't regret it ☦☦☦☦☦☦☦
Blessed Miguel Pro. Jesuit. One of the best examples of a true, strong man of faith. All priests should model themselves after him. The Jesuits need to get back to the qualities he modeled. As a woman, I want to have the faith and bravery he had.
Indeed ! I did a video on him in Mexico
@ Yes. I’ve been following you awhile snd I’ve watched that video several times. 😊😊 He ‘s my favorite saint, and I am spending 2025 with him and really deep diving into his life.
Nicole Marie, the SSPX run retreats on the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola. They have a retreat house in Bristol but I don't know if they have one in Ireland if that's where you are. St Ignatius would have a fit if he saw what has happened to the Society of Jesus. To think there will be a special service for the pink brigade in the Gesú for the Jubilee where he is entombed. He must be spinning in it.
Being Catholic and converting to Eastern Orthodoxy, well they are saying that purgatory and the immaculate conception are things that they previously held true and now they say no to the things they held and professed?
Lovely Romanian Orthodox monastery at Shannonbridge ... well worth a visit. A
Bookshop with english books explaining Orthodoxy ... the service today - Divine Liturgy and Vespers was three hours long. L8veky fellowship as people gathered together for lynch afterwards
I’ve been there, I know the Sisters who I met
Yes, I watched a SSPX mass just lately , it had a full house and I asked what they did to get so many people !! All my children and 3/4 of my grandchildren went to top Catholic colleges but no one goes to church !! I think the colleges don't do their job either as far as religion goes. Greetings from Australia
I'm a Coptic Christian, but i think Catholicism is more likely to be true than Eastern Orthodox. Im not sure how they would adress Pope Agathos Letter at Constantinople III. I've seen the Latin mass its beautiful, hopefully things will change.

I began attending Orthodox services in '95. The elusive higher theology that was always right around the corner but not shown or taught, I am finding in the Catholic Church. I am missing the sights and sounds of Orthodoxy, but theology is foundational.
Indeed, an the Catholic church has extremely deep roots and it comes to that topic
In '95, that doesn't surprise me... although, all the services are jam packed full of theology. In my parish, you'll hear the young men standing around in groups after the Liturgy with their coffee and cake, and the main topic of discussion seems to be theology and what books they are reading. It seems that things have changed.
Not just young men.... this 60 year old became Orthodox three years ago, previously Baptist.
In this video you hit the bullseyes 🎯!
Father forgive my interruption, but I belive that nowadays we live, not only young people thirst for tradition and something sacred, but most of the people do want that..
I think we've reached to this point where people got bored of continuous intersections and changes in the church...everything is changing so fast in our lives and people need something stable
As a Lutheran in practice of common communion, well,as Catholic too as to Evangelic..but ..u hit the nail square on that man..Amen God Bless, how many marathon runners are u going to find ..James 11:11 Amen..fisherman and Duty ..
I was in France on the Chartres pilgrimage and there were some sort of French Catholic scouts and they were quite a manly bunch. I do not think that there is anything like them elsewhere, but I could be wrong.
I saw those guys at a latin mass in Rennes. Well put together people
Thank you Robert! ❤️🙏
We have been prepared by Our Lady for these times. The Orthodox Churches (plural) can’t show unity, and it many ways departed from the faith (giving communion to those married 3 times)
@ yes, Catholics are very united. Just look at how novus ordo Catholics treat trads…how everyone thinks SSPX is schismatic. Go to an Eastern European country and ask a novus ordo goer what their opinion is on the Byzantine Catholics there... “United” indeed, and this is what I mean. Problems such as these are completely ignored by many online Catholics. This is what leads people to orthodoxy btw. Just letting you know.
Amin!! well said! ☦☦☦☦☦☦☦
@@thecatholicman - Educate yourself Robert - there is PERFECT unity in the Orthodox Church (SINGULAR). Sure the various autocephalous Churchs SOMETIMES have disputes over jurisdiction but NEVER over the Liturgy or Faith'n'morals, unlike the Roman Catholic Church. We have inter-communion and the same Faith and therefore PERFECT unity.
Sadly for us Orthodox we havn't diluted the Liturgy or our Faith, we havn't worshiped pachamama or instigated this wonderful Synod on synodality! how lucky you are! Our patriarchs have not declared 'all religions lead to God!'
Divorce?? please Robert! annulments given out like confetti by the RCC, MORE actual divorce among RCs than the Orthodox, divorce in Orthodoxy allowed in VERY rare cases and not easy to come by; adultery (as sanctioned by the Gospel), desertion or abuse. Wake up Robert.

I converted to Catholicism for truth and dogmatic reasons. I would never leave for a church that denies the doctrine of immaculate conception and purgatory. I truly believe without a Pope Christians cannot be a powerful force in the world.
❤ Being Catholic is not always easy
Tradition appeals to many people but we must never leave the barque of Peter, no matter what!
Don't tell us; tell Bergoglio, Fernandez, & the St. Gallen cabal.
@avantibev7759 everyone needs to be told. This is a test. God is asking us, will we be faithful, despite all the bad guys?
Our new priest is so reverant. Mass now, even though still the new order mass has additions!! He says certain parts in latin and welcomes the Eurcharist on the tongue. He uses incense regularly etc etc and guess what??Altar boys are coming back (with smiles)and the church is now packed out. He also does regular benedictions!!!and Adorations. Families are flocking back. I just hope the Bishop will be in favour? One complaint and i know which side the bishop will act 😢
Support him! Make sure you and other like-minded parishioners have his back against those that would bad mouth him. Always stand up to any one making a snarky comment. " Actually, I find Fr. X says a very holy and sincere mass, I'm glad we have him"
Volunteer for parish committees as this is where he will need your support the most. Sitting at a table with 4 po faced old dears clutching their pearls he dared to use incence or pray a few words of Latin. Here he will need support.
You are very blessed to have a good preist
The Church Fathers are the fathers of the Catholic Church. But orthodoxy I would argue has fossilised, fragmented, and accepted divorce long ago. Sad.
Indeed. And all those outward signs, are a message to the unseen
Thanks, Robert you’re like John the Baptist ❤😂 Happy Feast of the Epiphany
These old hippies have done so much damage! I am hopeful for the future though.
Exactly. It’s so bizarre. Imagine any other organization closing its only growing department.
Our lady said all over ,stand firm.
She dosent say go to the ortodox church.
So i will stand firm
Just a small correction: you don’t actually “have to understand Latin” to serve at the authentic Roman Rite; in fact, even if you are the acolyte/server doing the responses, all you need is to memorise the responses, as they are always the same, without the need* to understand them.
The Latin you need to memorise can be done in a week. And you can use a books or page to read it while serving until you know it by memory
The vernacular would be better!
The conciliar church's leadership doesn't want the old liturgy to flourish because the old liturgy teaches the old theology
Let us praise Almighty God, the birth and rising of his Messiah of Israel as a Divine Spirit is just about to take place, an enormous blessing and salvation for those souls aligned with him and a curse and condemnation for those who are not.😄😁😅

Like the Polish people chanted in Warsaw during Pope John Paul' s visit." We want God" The Catholic Church has everything we yearn for in this world. Show it to us in its magnificence.
Robert, you don't have to turn your back on the Catholic world and still benefit from the Orthodox experience. Go Polish Eastern Catholic, still in communion with Rome, but very orthodox in their liturgy.
Indeed. But we also don’t need to turn our backs on Roman Catholic tradition. We have a very rich heritage which needs to the renewed
@@thecatholicmanExactly! So many people fall into schismatic communities like SSPX. You should make a video explaining that bc a lot of your commenters are involved with that group, which is overtly heretical and at odds with Rome
@thecatholicman novus ordo is not rich, but simply lame. In the same time latin mass is outlawed and prohibited in my country.
I believe that there are Irish Orthodox missions, but probably not many.
I've seen on the internet many references to Irish Orthodoxy or Celtic Orthodoxy, but other than immigration, it doesn't exist. Irish Christians were always thoroughly Latin and Roman and resisted the Henrican/Elizabethan protestant savagery right up until recent times. The Greek Schism was never even on the Irish radar.
My parish has a Catholic school, but there often are masses where there are no altar servers. I am amazed.
I see it all the time here in Pa, glad I’m eastern Catholic

I am a traditional Latin rite Catholic. I will not say which one do to backlashes that we always seem to get, but I am sick and tired of it.
I can NOT blame them ... but I prefer to move to the Greek Catholic Church.
Well said, Robert. Well said. God bless you, and Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to you and your family. ❤
And I don't even see the gays coming for their blessings to the Novus Ordo...
Our parish Mary Queen in friendswood, TX have a large number of altar servers (boys and girls)
New video (22 hrs now) but the comments are running roughly 4 to 1 of Orthodox Converts vs people still trying to reform the failing Latin Church.
Greek Catholic Church lost 80% of their Sunday attendance. Not to mention the other orthodox strong holds. The Russian orthodox #2 was discovered to be sleeping with a guy and expelled. So before pointing fingers might want to take a deep look at the divided orthodox churches
@@thecatholicman See my other comment.
What is your opinion of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church
I don’t understand why ban the latin mass?
Thank you.
I found the talk at the link below interesting also.
Between 21:50 to 22:50 he talks about Iconoclasm and how Vatican II is a bit of Icon Smashing itself. Maybe that’s a common thought, but first time I heard it stated that specific way.

Although they were already turning the priest around to look down on the people
There must be a traditional parish somewhere in Ireland?
