It's pretty stunning how many concepts carry over between machining and pottery: lapping, using a turning wheel to create concentricity, and how similar trimming is to turning on a lathe. The tolerances are different obviously, and one is significantly more manual than the other, but truthfully crafting is crafting, regardless of media. Thank you for the video and for taking us inside your studio, it's a joy to watch.

I think this is the type of style that is the best for explaining about a process. Not only are you artistic, professional and clean, but you're easy to follow. Bravo to you for sharing your process and eliminating all of the background nonsense. You're really good!

@@floriangadsby I copied your design for making teapots I am not going to sell it out of respect I'm going to keep it but I made a few of them and I'm going to keep all of them or give them to my family perhaps. The design lends itself very well for production work. Every time I walk by it and look I have to stop and look at it for a while. I'm having trouble finding a high iron content clay that doesn't turn almost black when firing if you have any suggestions I am open LOL. As a tea enthusiast I am glad to see all the details that must be taken care of when making a teapot. A good teapot must feel natural, an extension of one’s hand and allow for clean pouring and easy maintenance. It’s that combination of little fits, chamfers, angles and bores that make or break a pot.

Such a beautiful process, that not only creates a lovely piece, but also gives a story and an identity to each one of them, as an architecture student, I would love if my study plan included workshops of hand crafts such as pottery, woodwork etc, i believe that it creates a relationship and a deeper understanding of materials and how to develop their own expression and their own voice, not just simply choosing from a catalog and using them.

Currently in a wheel throwing class, I love seeing the culmination of the basics and fundamentals that we've been practicing in class being demonstrated here as well! a wonderfully condensed video of the whole process

Though I have never made a single pot, something about these videos is just so... beautiful, not just the pieces themselves, but everything else as well

thanks for the video. I just discovered your channel. As a potter myself, it is good to see a video that aptly shows and explains all that goes into making something like a teapot. Love your work, simply beautiful.

This is my first time watching a clay craft tutorial. I don't know why this was recommended to me, but you have a soothing voice and nice handiwork.
