Thanks for posting this. Good stuff here. Just picked up a timber bear for $50 from the guy who bought it brand new back in the day and only cut a few cords of firewood. I think i read that the timber bear is around 55cc where as the pm610 is 60cc. Not surr if thats true, but if so, its doing real well beating a 60cc husky. I like husky, but there are no $50 460 ranchers for sale near me
I'll bet that chainsaw hasn't been modified at all. The Timber Bear and PM 610 chainsaws get a lot of hate. Probably because of how beautiful they are. I'm not surprised that it beat the Husqvarna. They have tons of torque and don't really slow down while cutting. My dad and both of my grandad's had them and they are the first chainsaws I remember. I have 2 of them. They are very tough and very fast cutters. My dad's looked like they used it to build Noah's ark and it still always ran and cut well. I have compared one of mine to my Stihl Ms 291 and my timber Bear is faster in big hardwood. I hope they don't ever become popular so that there will be plenty of them for me to collect. Another bonus is that they are Clark Griswold approved.
I havent been impressed with husky saws. My dads got a 455 rancher and honestly it barely outcuts my MS211 stihl, and the stihl is actually reliable. He used to run an old timberbear and that thing would have spanked them both

What’s been done to that timber bear?

@@Mac-610 big fan of mcculloch
Mac 20 Seconds Husky 28 Seconds is what I counted. My gramps got a timber bear running last fall and says it runs like a dog, must not be tuned right?
So that’s what that ropes for… oops
I think the McCullough won but maybe all that weight

460 has never been a speed saw
