Even Jaja being Ibo never called his kids by an Ibo name, he does not consider himself igbo but ibani. Apart from language which was as a result of some crazy Idea and Trade, nothing else connects us to igbo. we call our king Amanyanabo and not Eze, Alabo and not Mazi, Alabota and not Lolo. and the list goes on

Opobo isn't igbo, my fellow igbo brothers , stop all ur claims, it only makes u people a land grabber , just bcus of mistake their elders made andu people are still leveraging on it to make them igbo. I love opobo as we all igbos do. It's better they are our close relatives because we have some people with igbo ancestry but are now enculterated t be igbo.its through that I can hear some back ground igbo like egwu ogwugba pr something lidat, but they are not igbo please and take note. Do not make them hate us.

They actually don’t speak igbo but they have a certain language that is a bit mixed with igbo and that’s actually the one some of the younger people understand (like me).

@@isaackalu2132 No, the igbo language was influence by trade with the Ndoki people. The language was also used in Bonny. The ibani language was seen as a language of the royals. However opobo has a mix from different tribes including Ibani(Ijaw), Igbo, ibibio, andoni and even the ogonis who are now ibani people by enculturation. so even when the speak a dialect of Igbo the have not forgotten their root.

    • @udob4939

Because majority of the inhabitants of Opobo are of Igbo extraction due to slave trade and also Ndoki-Igbo migration and influence.
