It’s pretty cool to see how far Chris’ comedy is reaching. As an Australian so many of the characters are truly Aussie cliches that we have grown up with and are still in our towns today. He is a straight up legend!!

I’ve lived in Australia since 2004 and I’ve always wondered why no one has touched upon this side of comedy on Australian tv until Chris came along and made it globally known, i mean when you get into the gritty true characters that you find in the middle and poor class areas that’s where comedy is at its best, eg everyone knows a Jonah from Tonga growing up in school, or any other of his characters we have come across in our everyday life here in Australia but somehow the comedy we get on television is the bloody footy show 🤦♂️

Theo always seems gracious for every guest he has on here, but I've never heard him this excited and energized about someone before, and it's easy to see why. Chris really struck a positive chord in Theo. Hats off to both of these guys👏🏼

God I love Theo and Chris Lilley and was so excited, however this was so awkward. I think that the cultural differences are apparent in this interview - Australian performer v American comedian = this was really interesting in an incredibly awkward way. If Theo was Australian this would have been a match made in heaven but as an Australian and a Theo Von listener I could see where Theo was unable to tap more out of this interview with Chris Lilley e.g. Chris not wanting to speak about himself in a serious way, if presented differently he would have been comfortable to say more but Australians don't speak about themselves in positive terms as easily as Americans - it needs to be done in a way that is self-deprecating. Chris was happy to speak of the creative process but not his individual experience of celebrity :) hahaha because if he did he would be a wanka :) and would internally cringe - similar to the idea of loss of face - it feels disgusting!!! Thanks Theo - welcome to Australia.
