    I'm living for Nesta finally getting her main character moment. As for Cassian, he's just ok to me. I agree his arc is more plot focused. The Gwyn/Emerie/Nesta trio really is the best part of the book. My favorite thing about this book is that it shows none of these characters are perfect too. One of the most surprising things for me was Nesta and Azriel's friendship. I know he's in the background most of the time but I appreciate that man! As for that whole pregnancy thing, it was disgusting. Rhysand being mad at Nesta and just pissed me off lmao. He remains a menace to society. 🎭🎭🎭

      rhysand just needs to go somewhere... don't need that man in my life. i really enjoyed cassian. i don't think he's the greatest character ever written, but he was fun to read about.

    I resignated with Nesta so much. This book had me bawling at so many scenes and I have never cried in a book.
    I think Nesta is so beautifully human and we are a flawed people. I think Sarah did a really good job of showing the ups and downs and how even after you recognize what you're doing wrong, there are days and times where you just can't stop it and that's beyond frustrating and where you BELIEVE others are better off without you. So you push away harder in HOPES they will give up.. You know you're spiraling and hurting people you love and tou don't WANT to, yet you feel powerless to stop it.
    It's why mental health sucks and is so different for different people and is so hard to navigate. Everyone recovers differently and sadly many don't.... For the one in it and their loved ones. It's why there are even so many different opinions on Nesta in this book I think.. Some readers are frustrated with the slow going healing, just like so many loved ones in our daily lives are. And then others 100% get it. Some get exactly why she's lashing out and others think her just a bitch. This is definitely a story line that I think impacts yiu differently based on your own life experiences. For me, Nesta gave me hope that mt own 2 year struggle can survive. I.too can find a desire to truly LIVE again and heal. (Again, I bawled in this book. Ugly ass bawling bc I understood her on such a deep, vulnerable, flawed level.).
    Through Nesta's story we see her pain and self hating goes way further back than the war. And she can never change that or fix that part going forward. Eatching someone die happily to save you after years of doing nothing to them, that's hard. And it's been less than 2 years since this death so her timeline of needing this whole 750 page book to even start to try making a turn around. It's very realistic if you've been in similar mental spaces and is different for everyone again.
    I think Sarah jusy really made Nesta so flawedly, beautifully human. And in the end does show that you can survive it and learn to thrive again.
    I think this book did what it needed to fke Nesta. I wasn't bothered the plot took more of a background and what we did get I was invested in.
    Also, fully agree with keeping the secret from Feyre was horrendous. And we see Rhys in a more asshole way, bit we are seeing him through Nesta and not Feyre anymore. And he's not perfect bc no one is.

    • @itsmonteprice
      @itsmonteprice  3 года назад +12

      rhys has always been an asshole. i don't think that he was written any differently than he was in the previous books, it's just okay to not like him because we aren't in feyre's head. the man is consistently garbage. and that whole situation with feyre and her pregnancy is definitely the part of the book that let me downt he most.

    I want Lucien and Elains and Gwyn and Azriels book next, then Tamlins book of rebuilding his court, finding a way to heal himself and then realizing Briar is his mate... to bring everything full circle. Everyone finds happiness. The end

    • @9cloudrachel207
      @9cloudrachel207 Год назад +3

      I think azriel and elain will get together. The mating bond doesn’t always mean they would be a happy couple- like Rhys’ parents. So I don’t think her and Lucien will end well. That’s my working theory rn, I’ve only read the ACOTAR series so pls no one spoil anything

    • @fandomsnwriting
      @fandomsnwriting Год назад

      @9cloudrachel207 Not with the clues. Azriels shadows only hide from her and Mor. Thats no coincidence. Plus Elain and Lucien are both constsntly compared to light and sun and glow. And since theyre already mates, and Rhys said there is no way tonget rid of a mate bond, only verbally reject it, it would be torture for SJM to put Lucien and Elain through that...feeling each other forever

    🎭i love nesta and i think the discussion around her anger and trauma was really interesting. loved loved LOVED her friendships with gwyn and emerie. the reason i gave it 4 stars is my criticism of maas in general where i feel as though there is such a difference in pacing and the endings always have a deus ex machina element that make everything happy, but that didnt deter from how much enjoyment i had and how much i see maas putting her love into it

    • @itsmonteprice
      @itsmonteprice  3 года назад

      i don't miind that her books all have a happy ending. i think she's made it very clear in interviews that she doesn't have any interest in writing books that have more bittersweet endings, and i think that her endings usually make sense. it doesn't come out of left field. i do think that house of earth and blood is the weakest in that area, and here i felt that the pieces were there to make it all make sense.

    I am in love with these books. I love SJM. In fact I even enjoyed the novella in between. I don’t care that it didn’t have a point or wasn’t necessary. I enjoyed it nonetheless. I only have one small insignificant ridiculous critique and it is totally 100% a me thing. It’s petty to even say this but I stopped counting how many times I read the words “could’ve sworn”.. Every single chapter every few pages someone “could’ve sworn“ some thing. Like over and over and over and over throughout all of the books. Typically I don’t notice stuff like that and wouldn’t care but after 25 times reading that same phrase I just I wanted to beg her to not ever say that again. It doesn’t matter at all and it doesn’t change how much I love the books but my goodness girl, can we maybe come up with a different couple words instead of “could’ve sworn” OK I’ll shut up now

    • @itsmonteprice
      @itsmonteprice  3 года назад +1

      before i read acosf i thought the novella was going to have a larger role, but they immediately decided to remove any connection for no reason. i didn't notice repetitive phrasing, but i'm sorry you had that experience.

    I just got into the acotar world, and let me say this it has been a RIDE. I absolutely loved the last book and the love I have for Nesta, Gwyn, Emerie and the House of Wind is undescribable!! Not everyone is going to understand Nesta and that’s okay. This book showed us who Nesta really is and what she was going through and I think it was something that was done beautifully!! And my man Cassian, I love that he never gave up on my girl Nesta!!🫶🏽😩

    While reading it, I kept seeing parallels with ACOMAF. We had an Acheron sister, recently turned fae dealing with trauma. Along their journey, they train physically and/or magically, go on quests, fall in love with their mate, get a found family and come to the conclusion that they’re looking forward to life at the end of the book.

    Really liked this! I agree the Valkyries were my fav part of the book.
    And yess as a ...I wouldn't say a Nesta hater (she really did piss me off at some points) I definitely came out of this book disliking her a little less😅

    • @itsmonteprice
      @itsmonteprice  3 года назад +1

      I will never understand not liking Nesta. I mean... I guess I kind of get it, but I also do not see it. The Valkyries storyline was great though and I was very happy that I got to see it all play out and didn't feel like it got short changed.

      @@itsmonteprice the first time I read the series I didn't like her. But the second time, I really took my time and really paid attention to Nesta's parts. And I came to understand her more, and started to like her more. And reading her story I actually fall in love with her. I actually loved this book, and I never thought I would say this but its probably my favorite book in this world. I don't know if its my favorite of all the books she wrote. Thats probably between 3 books. Heir of fire, kingdom of ash, and Cresent city/house of Earth and Blood. In no certain order. This book made me cry a few times and I loved the houses relationship with Nesta. As well as the friends she made. I am more of a character driven person. So while I do want a plot, I want to love the characters. Or at least, understand why a character does whatever it is that they do. Rather its a hero, heroine, or the villain.
