Love your Dad! Good old 🌲🌲🌲Yankee Engineuity right there. First thing we though when we saw the dirty lens was “Balls!” First giggle your Dad gave us in a previous video.😂
Family, Salt of the earth relationships with the people God picked for you to spend your life with. I'm 72 and my father will be 104 the day after Christmas. Lost my mom about a year before you lost yours. The next 10 years can be the best of your life. Get out there and start cutting.
Morning Chris! Your pop is one of a kind. Looks like he is doing well. Love his property! Looks like he has as many trees as Scheib has planted on theB40 live stream!! 🤣 Glad to see your Dad is still hard at it. 👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Thanks Chris! I remember years ago my Grandpa would use a Sickle. He would be in the nursery from sun up till sun down trimming trees. He would of been in hog heaven with that Husqvarna!
No I do not unfortunately for me I live outside of Milwaukee, but I'll travel to get a decent tree, last time I purchased a balsam, two days after the wife decorated it got in the morning and just about all the needles where on the floor, literally filled a bag with all the needles and took it back to I purchased it from, have not purchased one in quite a few years now, bought a fake one
Loved seeing this. Being with your dad is priceless. It shows people how much work goes into growing trees I think a lot of people don’t know what goes into raising trees. From planting watering trimming and harvest for 10 years. Worth every penny to buy a real tree for the holidays. Peace
Well Chris that was a awesome video it's great that you go out and help your dad and your brother out helping to glad yall are still helping out your dad hope he is still doing great also tell him your viewers love him and wish him the best. Goodnight Irene
I always wondered where those balsam hill catalog trees came from😆😆 Man if you could get the price those things fetch you’d definitely be drinking wine out of a glass with a pinky in the air. PS…good thing Kenny didn’t burn these fields of trees.
Morning Chris, nice to see your dad again, what a great spread he has there. “I don’t reveal numbers” he is as tight-lipped as you are about your pallet sources, haha the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Have a good day
ANY video you post with your dad is going to be a special thing for us, your viewers, now. Very cool that he is sharp, physically and mentally able to work hard, and healing from a significant loss. Glad you and your family are there for him. Christmas trees. Love it as a business model. Keeps the low lifes away. Gotta plan too far ahead. Same with firewood if you want to sell dry wood. Problem with firewood, too many competitors willing to sell garbage or green wood. Can't do that with a Christmas tree I guess. Nice video tho.
Thanks so much for watching Geoffrey, I have about 450 videos you need to get caught up on and a new one every morning at 5:30 am central! You have work to do! Thanks!
I see that the animal didn’t wander to far from the herd. Thanks for sharing your dad. One day you will get to re-live seeing and hearing him on these videos. Priceless!!
Good morning Chris, it is always good to see your family helping out. Your dad does not look to be a day over 70. Great video and learning about Christmas trees, always learning and doing something new. 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Nothing against you youngsters but watching your father trim trees didn’t make me cringe at all. Chris enjoy every minute you can with your father. I lost my father in 2007. I miss those great talks we had.
My wife and I bought a house on an acre 4 years ago and i have planted about 50 trees to date. Also have a bunch of voulenteer maples growing. The trees i planted are white pine(which the deer love to eat) black hills spruce, white cedar, and austrian pine.
Good morning Chris. Looks like Dad is doing good. That Christmas 🎄 farming sounds like a great side gig for retirement. Thanks for sharing with us. GNI
Good morning Chris. Great to see your father again. He's just as chipper as always. The man is definitely not afraid of work.I see where you and your brother get their work ethic from. I hope you go up and hang out with him you'll be glad you did some day. I would pay to be able to shoot the breeze with my parents 😩 Great video as always. Get out there and get......trimming!
Morning Chris! Your dad’s 82 year old Christmas Tree trimmer was awesome and I would like to see another video of it with more detailed information about it. I could use one for myself? lol Thanks 🙏 and have a blessed day!
Just for beautifying Kenny could get a bush hog and spent a couple days brushing, make it a family share of expenses, as you could use it to for cleaning photogenic areas and trails. Kenny could pick up some extra custom work in area.
Hello Chris, you guys did a Great Job trimming those trees. You Dad look Good. Chris, 25 years ago I brought 15 Blue spruce trees in 1 gal. pots and planted them at the back of my prop. because of a drop off down over a steep hill. I never trimmed them up. I guess I did not know any better. I planted them 10ft. apart. They now touch each other. Today they are 30 ft. in the air. Chris the tops are doing well, but the bottoms are not so good. I cut all the dead branches off the bottom about 6 ft. up. I now store my cut firewood between some of them. My Question to you Chris is, if I would top them off would they grow better at the bottom and spread out. In some of the places at the bottom where I cut the old dead branches off new growth is coming back, small green shoots of pine. Just asking for some advice, I see you have been around Pine trees along time. Thanks !
Thanks Stanley, the bottoms of your trees are done now , all the needles need to get sun so when they get to touching and crowded by other trees or tall grass the bottoms will die off. They need a lot of space to spread out and trimming is not necessary unless you want them really full and thick.
Interesting how there is a difference in style for christmastrees, in Europe we would never cut the top, they even set small sticks on them to prevent birds from bending them, here a beautiful tree had like floors on them.
People want that fast return. I don't blame them but if you want a good retirement job and can afford the time/money, anything with trees is a heck of a good way to go.
Hi Chris!!😀😀 Your dad is looking good!! Nice to see you and Eric helping him get them sheared!! He has a really nice piece of property on the river there. I've got it narrowed down as to about where his place is. LOL!! Are you going to help him harvest them also? Your dad's trimmer is a nifty piece of equipment. I have never seen one like that before. It really does a nice job. Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al
Fantastic video. I learned more about Christmas trees than I ever knew. Down in Iowa, the deer are nasty to what they grow here. How are the critters on the trees, up there? Everything here is cut your own and they make a big circus out of it with horse-drawn rides out to the field. 🎄
Most x-mas trees sold are 5 to 6 feet tall. So I wonder when you chop of the top of the smaller trees, doesn't that make the tree grow a split top. Would it not be better to leave the top untrimmed until it has reached the desired height? Also I wonder about cutting the undergrowth. does he leave it like that on purpose for some reason? It was such a great video I had to watch it again. So how far do you live from your dad? I have alot of Christmas tree farms around me here in Southern Michigan but never paid much attention as to how they managed them other than seeing them cut them for sale in the fall. Going to have to go for a drive next summer to check them out. Very interesting.
I agree with your Dad, his tree trimming machine is quiet, fast and doesn't smell. How often does the ground between the christmas trees get brush hogged?
Nice to see a different income stream with forestry. Those farms by my house have like 10 foot fences all the way the trees. Are those your dad's bees?
Chris, can you show us a cherry and locust tree? We in Minnesota don’t see them so it’d be interesting. Also, do you ever get elm? If it’s not possible, no problem. 🙂
I don't have any on my property but I can show you the logs side by side so you can see the bark at least. And yes I do get some elm ...aka...SATAN WOOD! I do not like elm, tough to split!
Does your arm get trimmer-tired when you chainsaw? Or does the chainsaw kind of hang on the end of your arms more, along with resting it on the log, making it not as tiring?
put a goatee on that man and its Kenny! So awesome to be able to spend time with your Dad. What a property he has.
Yup, it is a nice piece!
Love your Dad! Good old 🌲🌲🌲Yankee Engineuity right there. First thing we though when we saw the dirty lens was “Balls!” First giggle your Dad gave us in a previous video.😂

Thanks Chris! I remember years ago my Grandpa would use a Sickle. He would be in the nursery from sun up till sun down trimming trees. He would of been

I always love to see you with your dad,and I love balsam trees my favorite may have get a tree from your dad
Thanks so much John, are you in central Wisconsin?
No I do not unfortunately for me I live outside of Milwaukee, but I'll travel to get a decent tree, last time I purchased a balsam, two days after the wife decorated it got in the morning and just about all the needles where on the floor, literally filled a bag with all the needles and took it back to I purchased it from, have not purchased one in quite a few years now, bought a fake one

I always wondered where those balsam hill catalog trees came from😆😆 Man if you could get the price those things fetch you’d definitely be drinking wine out of a glass with a pinky in the air. PS…good thing Kenny didn’t burn these fields of trees.
Ha! Yes, one acre will grow about 1000 trees at $40,000 an acre is good money BUT it takes 10 years to get it.
I like how he flicks the top off the trees, like a baseball player watching the ball fly into the stands as he hits a home run. What a boss.
HA! Ya, showmanship!
I really enjoy watching your videos 😊
I do the same thing but just started to really get serious about it.
Nice, keep cuttin'!
Morning Chris, nice to see your dad again, what a great spread he has there. “I don’t reveal numbers” he is as tight-lipped as you are about your pallet sources, haha the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Have a good day

Yup, that could be done too! Thanks Ronald!
Great hard working family that enjoys being outside.

Thanks for watching Mr. Canvas!
My wife and I bought a house on an acre 4 years ago and i have planted about 50 trees to date. Also have a bunch of voulenteer maples growing. The trees i planted are white pine(which the deer love to eat) black hills spruce, white cedar, and austrian pine.
Nice! Yup, deer will eat them up, you will need to protect them.
Your dad looks good
And very knowledgeable about trees
Thanks Dwight, yes and yes!

Thanks Mary, they are balsam trees, still evergreens but not pine trees.
Beautiful tree 🌲 farm. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching Richard!
The old balsam fir trees are my favorite looking tree, I planted a bunch at my camp there about 2 -3 ft tall
Yup, they look and smell great!
Good to see your dad!
Thanks Jeff!
Beautiful video Chris!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good morning Chris. Looks like Dad is doing good. That Christmas 🎄 farming sounds like a great side gig for retirement. Thanks for sharing with us. GNI
Yup, he is doing great, and yes his trees have been a good thing for him to do for many years now!

Love it!
Thanks!!
Morning Chris! Your dad’s 82 year old Christmas Tree trimmer was awesome and I would like to see another video of it with more detailed information about it. I could use one for myself? lol Thanks 🙏 and have a blessed day!
I plan on doing another one or two around cutting time.
Just for beautifying Kenny could get a bush hog and spent a couple days brushing, make it a family share of expenses, as you could use it to for cleaning photogenic areas and trails.
Kenny could pick up some extra custom work in area.
Yes but Kenny is 3 hours a way from the rest of us.
Hello Chris, you guys did a Great Job trimming those trees. You Dad look Good. @@InTheWoodyard I wish I knew the about the trimming 25 years ago Chris. Thanks for the info. 😁
Interesting how there is a difference in style for christmastrees, in Europe we would never cut the top, they even set small sticks on them to prevent birds from bending them, here a beautiful tree had like floors on them.
Maybe on the last year they can be left to be full height but trimming promotes a full growth.
People want that fast return. I don't blame them but if you want a good retirement job and can afford the time/money, anything with trees is a heck of a good way to go.
Yup, good work that is good exercise!
Morning fearless leader! Has your dad ever sold potted Xmas trees? Sort of a good sized market for that here in the northeast. Great video today
No, just cut.
Enjoyed this awesome video with my coffee this Sunday morning. God bless. @theloghog
Thanks for watching Bob!
Hi Chris!!😀😀
Your dad is looking good!!
Take care my friend!!😀😀
Logger Al
Thanks Al, yup, it is nice to still have him around and help out. His trimmer is a cool tool for sure!
Good afternoon Chris. Another excellent Video. What is the parts list and assembly sequence for the “Carlson electric tree trimmer”? Cool tool.
Thanks Brian, I am not sure but I can tell you that it does include TAPE to hold the battery on!
I have a five years old busy 123hd60 heagcutter it has the springs to stop the vibration with a 16 inch bland
Yes, I wish I had gotten a pro model now!
Hows it going? Nice property. The Christmas trees are a great idea. Better than a 401k.
Yes! That is what my dad says! Thanks Tom, everything is good, how are you doing across the pond?
Good morning from Grand Forks
Thanks for always being here Dean!
I am getting dizzy watching you go around those trees! I gotta get outside and get cutting, see ya.
HA! Yes get to it!
Fantastic video. I learned more about Christmas trees than I ever knew. Down in Iowa, the deer are nasty to what they grow here. How are the critters on the trees, up there? Everything here is cut your own and they make a big circus out of it with horse-drawn rides out to the field. 🎄
The deer do rub on them sometimes. Some places here do that circus thing too, most are just sold on lots.
Loved the vid and gave it a thumbs up.
Yes cutting it helps more side growth, thicker and fuller tree.
Awesome video. We grow Fraser Firs here where I'm located. They're similar to your Balsams. How do you all keep deer from eating on the younger trees?
Fast flying lead! HA! there is plenty of other stuff for them and the more trees there are the less it matters if a few get eaten or rubbed on.
👍
Thanks!
No, I haven't seen enough trees!!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Turk, I live about 80 miles away.
I agree with your Dad, his tree trimming machine is quiet, fast and doesn't smell. How often does the ground between the christmas trees get brush hogged?
He used to mow a couple times but with my mom dying this spring he did not do much work on the trees this year.
Nice to see a different income stream with forestry. Those farms by my house have like 10 foot fences all the way the trees.
Are those your dad's bees?
No, they are a friends, we did used to have them now my dad get free honey for rent!
🤟
Thanks!
Good ole pop! He's pretty swift with that battery operated machete. What does he do with the giant trees?
Thanks Shannon, some he sells and others will be left to grow big and tall for future residential lots.
Your dads looking great. How long does the battery last.
Thanks, full charged 5-6 hours.
Hi, great video. What time of year do you guys trim the trees? Thanks
End of summer to end of winter. Not when the growth is happening and soft.
Oh! I get tired alright! After cutting for hours and chucking rounds, I get tired!!
Chris I think you're faster but both ways were good
Yup we got it done!
