How long have you been using this oil? I got an 871 over the summer, and I've actually had quite a few problems with the valves (my repair guy told me that Yamaha horns are all like this...they are great in every way except that there is something in the metal of the valves that makes them oxidize faster than any of the other valves he works on). I've been using Hetmann, and it's okay, but I find myself having to compromise on the performance between fast valves with the lightest oil and functional valves with a heavier oil. (In other words, my valves tend to freeze up if I don't use the heavier oil, no matter how careful I am about regular maintenance). I guess I'm just wondering where this oil fits in on the spectrum, and if you've had any oxidation issues with it. Anyway, I get it if you can't get back to me, but I hope you do!
I’ve been using the oil for close to a year. I never have problems with valves now, Yamaha horns valves have a very tight tolerance and need a thinner oil, but the thinner the oil, the more often you need to use it. That’s why this stuff is so great. It acts like a thinner oil, but lasts much longer. I love it!
@@ChrisCastellanos1 This is what I was hoping to hear...thank you! The light Hetmann oil worked the best, but even oiling them every other day or so wasn't enough to stop them from seizing up if I didn't play every single day (and I play a lot, but I'm a PhD student NOT in music, so I do have days off...lol!). Thanks so much!!!!
I put it on my food too! lol - Seriously though, I put it on everything but the springs, although I suppose you could .. (tubes, rotors, linkage and spindles).

Ordered mine! Do you put it on the rotors (under the rotor caps)? inside the tubes? on springs? Do you put that sh_t on everything (NOT food) ?
