So wish they still did dances like this. I don't mind some of the themed ones, but I wish they'd do some proper, no bells and whistles ones occasionally. We never get to see actual jives or quicksteps or tangos anymore - it always has to be a Latin hybrid.
The other week at Strictly 2021 they did one which was just a ballroom dance.
Other then that though I would agree. The Halloween dance last year was HORRIBLE

I agree. I miss strictly being an actual DANCE competition with the proper outfits. Now it's just an entertainment programme. When we had the old format it made the theme weeks that more special and appreciated. I used to look forward to them, now it's basically another week.
I loved Strictly back then. The pros all had personality and the dancing was entertaining no stupid costumes every week! It was a true dance competition.
The professional dancers were absolutely superb and I remember all their names as they were proper stars 🌟 The professionals now are good and probably have more variety, but I doubt I'll remember them all in ten years or so. I adore this group jive 💞

Here I am at the end of 2023 and I've made a special effort to find this particular dance because I love it so much. Routine was simply sublime. Love (and miss!) every single one of them. What a routine!
Watching in 2022. They don’t do group dances like this anymore. I miss a lot of the old pros. You can’t just watch this once xx
I think this pro dance was from 2007? I never tire of watching it. Still yet to be bettered!

Loved the couples too! I think they are much better dancers than who they have on now. It was more about the dancing then but it seems more about being a ‘celeb’ themselves!

This is my favourite pro dance in strictly. Everyone is giving it their all, and they are all proper ballroom dancers, unlike now, when the influence is far too much back row of the chorus in a show at the end of a pier somewhere.
The glory days of strictly are long past, unfortunately, but this always cheers me up when I view it online

I love the pro dances they have now with the big production and concepts but I miss pure dancing like this, it really shows how phenomenal the pros are

Totally mesmerising. Best group dance ever. I was trying to think of the original couples....remembered most of them. Shows how production has changed, couldn't really make out their individual faces whereas now the clarity is amazing....More, more, more please.
My entire life, i have only witness this group. It’s top notch with so much energy and love what they so.
The Strictly of today could learn a lot from this performance. The professional dancers were wonderful and I loved watching them.
Please can we go back in time as it was so much more entertaining?

Nice to see the old faces - the whole show seemed to be more professional then, not so ego-driven.
Probably the best jive by anyone in Strictly history, incredibly complex with the circle and constantly changing partners…….every dancer was on their A game.
How clever are the women dancing in high heels!!

Masterful, commanding performance. This is my best dance of strictly of all times. It is a beautiful unfolding story line and the music by Billy idol is his best ever. Everytime I watch it, I get goose bumps. I love all the dancers and miss the ones that are absent like Nicole. Brendan's entrance was spectacular.

Mine too. I was really upset when Matthew, Darren and Ian all left the show at the same time. This dance is brilliant. I'm not sure what the show has lost but it just isn't the same now.

I miss this being the pro dancef lineup 😭 I love current dancers like Amy, Gorka, Johannes or Dianne, but you can't beat dancers like Darren, Lilia, James, Ola, Karen Hardy, Brendan, Anton and Erin!

He's fab, getting rid of him was a big mistake imo. I still miss him every year it's on and he's not in it!
Spangles70 I agree, he was brilliant. Yeah the new guys are good, but they're nothing special, and they have no personality. Matthew was a great choreographer, and he danced this jive like I've never seen before. If he, Ian Waite and Karen Hardy were back, the show would be the best thing on TV.

Loved that dance at the time Love it now - the group dances of late seem to favour a mix of styles
And I am SO impressed the women dancing all that in heels! Yes, the jive is up on the toes but still, I can barely walk in heels after 10 minutes

I think series five as the annus mirablis of the show in some ways - certainly the group dances were better than anything we've seen since - there are a lot of really good pro ones like this and apart from the week two boys one. All of the pro/celeb group dances were great too. i really miss pro/celeb group dances.
I think this is best group dance, even after 7 years, I still think of this one.

I agree. What I love about this is the way that every couple is given their own bit to do and no one hogs the spotlight . I think Nicole Cutler actually chereographed this - that poor lady never got her due on the show. It's also pretty astonishing the speed at which her legs move such a shame she never got a good enough partner to show what she could actually do.
