Changing names for me was super easy -- I just changed it to my lifelong childhood nickname. I'd already been going by the name for most of my life, so it just made sense. When I first legally changed my name, I would joke that my nickname became my legal name, and my legal name became my nickname (though that was over 25 years ago now, and no one uses my birth name anymore).
